When I say they thought of everything to make your stay enjoyable , I Mean everything . The historic charm of Aiken is carried throughout the home with an updated style sure to make every visitors stay feel like a retreat! When we arrived, we were greeted with a huge hello and smile by the host and given a tour of the home. I already felt at home ! The tour lead us through the beautifully decorated living rooms to the bed rooms that were filled with everything from snacks to cold drinks in the fridge to a Nespresso machine. The immaculate bathrooms have every amenity you could possibly think of with a five star hotel feel. Best of the best of everything from the hand soap to the professional grade blow dryer . Oh and if you are a TV watcher, no worries. Each room has a large TV! As the tour continued to the rear of the home, we walked past a "reading nook or meditation room " and through the "workout room" which opens up to a beautiful back porch that overlooks a beautiful in ground swimming pool . The deck is huge with a lot of comfortable seating and table top fire pit. This is where we enjoyed the "charcuterie and wine hour "after we enjoyed a polar plunge in the salt water pool. In the morning we enjoyed a Delicious gourmet breakfast prepared by the chef, our host! While over filling our bellies we enjoyed the tunes coming from the record player that was turning old vinyls ! The valet folks were friendly, everybody smiled, and for a moment I thought we might have stumbled onto one of those places where Southern hospitality still gets practiced instead of just printed on brochures. The inn itself has that old-school charm. The front porch alone looks like it has stories to tell, and most of them are probably better than the ones you'll hear at the average chain hotel breakfast buffet. The room was nice enough, though getting to it felt a little like a low-impact obstacle course. After stepping off the elevator, there were three steps to negotiate before reaching the room. No big deal. I shuffled the luggage and carried on. Then I discovered the room itself was split-level, complete with three more steps. That arrangement seemed perfectly reasonable until the 3 a.m. trip to the bathroom, when those same steps suddenly became an adventure sport. One suggestion: every room ought to have a proper nightstand and a place to charge the electronic gadgets that have become attached to modern Americans like an extra limb. We may not all travel with a typewriter anymore, but most of us carry enough electronics to launch a small satellite. Things got a little more interesting when hunger arrived. We tried to make restaurant reservations through the Resy link on the hotel's website. No luck. The restaurant wasn't listed. Fine. Technology fails. It happens. So I called the restaurant. No answer. Turns out the restaurant number appears to be the same as the front desk. I left a message and waited about 45 minutes for a callback. Never got one. Again, no big deal. DoorDash and an Indian restaurant came to the rescue. While pondering the mystery of the missing callback, I found myself staring out the window. That's when I noticed the paint splatters and streaks all over the glass. Now, I don't know who handles maintenance around there, but somebody needs to explain that painting a window and cleaning a window are two entirely different activities. And that's really the story of the Partridge Inn. Nice people. Pleasant room. Plenty of charm. But charm can only carry you so far when attention to detail keeps missing the bus. The little things matter because they add up. The unanswered phone, the broken reservation link, the paint on the windows, the awkward room layout--they're all small by themselves. Together, they're enough to make me appreciate the stay but probably not enough to make me come back for another one.

The staff member (woman) who greeted us showed none of the southern charm we hear so much about. We felt like we were a burden during check-in. We saw her one other time, and she didn't ask how things were going, and walked away from the desk when we walked toward her w a question. She was not present when we checked out. Aside from the blasting AC--joy to our northern ears--we were really disappointed with our room (the one at the top of the stairs in the main building) and generally underwhelmed w the hotel experience. Upon closer inspection you see that the hotel is shabby and in need of some attention. The issues w our room included: the dresser drawers having improperly long bolts/screws which snagged clothes multiple times, nearly ripping items. The room didn't look clean; stained carpet, as well as areas of carpet w water damage, as the AC unit dripped nonstop. It's safe to assume the staff is aware of the problem, as there is noticeable staining on the wall under the drip. All of this extra moisture left the carpet soggy under the AC vent, and the room smelling musty. There were stains from, god only knows what, over our bed. And the cherry on the cake was the cockroach we saw running around our bathroom on our last night. We've stayed in loads of hotels in the south and have yet to have had that happen. The one saving grace was the kind cook. Suffice to say we won't be going back.

This is a terrible way to run a business and I will never go back and never recommend it to anyone.

We felt like family. The owner stopped and chatted with each table for a few minutes after the main course. The B&B was also a pleasure. We had a special need and the owner was more than happy to accommodate us. The room was cozy and had a couple of easy chairs that you could watch TV from. There was also a couple of bags of snacks and a fridge stocked with sodas and water, all complimentary. If you love animals, there is a resident cat who makes his way along the outside porch as an ambassador to all the guests. There are also some donkeys and horses on property who love to get their heads scratched.
