I wasn't told that until I was paying. (Hadn't budgeted for that). I would've dried my hair at home. The chair was short, I am tall, my (very nice) hair dresser was shorter. So, I had to keep scooching down in the chair to get my hair done. I was aching after 3 1/2 hours. Finally, my (still very nice) hairdresser wanted to take photos of my hair. I was fine with this but I didn't really get a choice. Then, she was touching my face and the front of my neck. I wasn't asked if this was okay and I was uncomfortable. I love my hair. They did a great job. I don't think I would go back just because of the service aspect.

I happily swiped my card and tipped my shampoo lady and guy in cash and walked happily over next door to Ranch 99 to get some lunch. He did check in with me throughout the process, but it was confusing. I explicitly said I wanted my bangs shorter, yet he continued cutting them longer than what I had shown or said. I'm not sure where the communication broke down, but the end result was the opposite of what I asked for. He also asked if I wanted to thin my hair. I didn't know exactly what that meant, but he said it would look better. I hesitated, but when he suggested "just a little," I agreed. Unfortunately, he thinned out so much that now I have tons of short, frizzy pieces sticking out everywhere. Again, nothing like the photo I showed. It will take years to grow my hair out to fix this. On top of that, he didn't check my face before sending me out the door. I left the salon with tiny shredded hairs stuck all over my face, like I had just walked through a hair storm. For context the stylist I've been to for years is based in Baltimore and with how traffic can get I can't justify spending 40% of my saturday going to Baltimore to get my hair done. So I began the search looking for a new hairstyle salon. Tried Alexandria, Springfield, even Fairfax. But none have provided what I need and certainly not justifiable of the price it commanded. So I tried HairSocial because I found it on Google and I liked I can book online. My hair appointment consists of the following: Wash, Blow Dry, and an undercut. Sometimes I'll get it flat-ironed depending on the occasion. So I booked 4 days in advance and when I arrived for my appointment I had to wait 20 mins after my actual time (for context it was a Sunday afternoon and no one else was in the shop except for one customer). When I was seated I was only given a haircut and nothing else despite asking for a hair wash and a blowout. Considering I had to put a downpayment online to book the appointment I naturally felt bamboozled. They offered to do what I originally asked but they said I had to wait an hour. I didn't have time as I had a family dinner I had to attend so I decided to go home and wash my own hair. Before I left, the front desk offered to refund me on my card and then said no and could only offer me a credit. The credit was tied to my account yet the credit isn't available when you book online you can only access the credit if you call to set up an appointment. Extremely disappointed but the stylist did a great job with my haircut. I'm just disappointed that I didn't get what I paid for at a reasonable time. Thankfully the management of the loc in Tysons Corner set things right and as a result despite this location being closer to me I go out of my way to visit the HairSocial in Tyson's Corner (that review will be coming shortly).
