The WELL at Sac state is a great facility. They do seem to be suffering from success as it is extremely busy at certain hours, so much so that I only really go late at night after my classes (~7-9pm) to avoid waiting double digit minutes for all machines. There's something for everyone here and as an alumni they offer very cheap post graduate memberships. Included (without choice) in your tuition however, is a $442 University Union / Well fee. For a 4 month semester, $110.50 a month is an absurd price for what you get, especially considering that you are forced to pay it whether or not you actually use their facility. 5/5 facility 3/5 value If you're interested in travel/local review content you can find us on most socials @sunsetourist

The Well is probably the biggest attraction on campus. There are so many great programs and equipment. I've been to a lot of gyms and this one by far is the best one I've ever been to. Once you workout at The Well, you'll never want to workout anywhere else. They have so much equipment downstairs on the fitness floor as well as upstairs in the Circuit Area if you don't want all the hustle and bustle of the fitness floor. There's also a huge room dedicated just for cardio, as well as several other cardio machines spread throughout the whole facility. Not to mention an indoor track as well. Free weights are located all around the building and the staff is really great on keeping them racked so you're not running around looking for dumbbells. They have a variety of fitness classes (all free) as well as small group classes for a small fee. The one thing I will say is that during the first few weeks of the semester it tends to be a little crowded, but they offer a swarm tracker on their website that lets you know how busy it is. I've always had great experiences at The Well. The staff is always friendly and will try to accommodate all of your needs.

The Well has everything you could ever need and more. It even borders on overkill with its fingerprint recognition entry system and free towel service. Part of me loves it while the other part of me thinks I'd rather do without and have cheaper tuition. Eh, why complain? The facilities pretty much kick ass and the staff are super friendly.

The Well is one of the best gyms I have been to. It tends to get pretty busy because all of Sacramento State goes here, but all the machines are up to date and it is pretty spacious with something to do for everyone. They offer free fitness classes for students, small group classes for $6, and personal training. I personally love the small group classes, the personal trainers know what they're doing and they know how to make you feel welcome. I'm surprised more people don't utilize them. From the classes, to the machines, to the locker rooms, to the people, the well is overall a great gym :)

Classes: Group fitness classes are limited to 35 participants. The workout space has a large pillar in the middle that blocks visibility for some attendees. Parking: Plenty of parking available in the underground garage. Members receive 3 hours of complimentary parking at the Golden 1 complex, which is a great perk if you want to explore nearby businesses after your workout. Cleanliness: Workout areas are generally clean and well maintained. However, the restroom area tends to be messier. Amenities: The gym features a full-size basketball court, a swimming pool, sauna, steam room, and whirlpool. Recovery Room: This is a major advantage since the recovery room is currently only available at four locations. The add-on costs $9.99/month and includes: * 4 massage chairs (20-minute sessions) * 3 zero-gravity chairs * 2 Hyperice massage guns * Hyperice Normatec leg recovery boots The room is well air-conditioned and comfortable. The only downside is that it is located beneath the basketball courts, so the sound of bouncing basketballs can be quite loud and distracting at times. What I especially like is that there is no strict time limit on using the recovery room amenities. At another gym I visited, members had to reserve equipment in advance, and staff would activate each machine for a limited session. Once the timer expired, the massage chairs and recovery boots automatically stopped, requiring another reservation and staff activation. This location offers a much more flexible and user-friendly recovery experience.

Front desk receptionist are friendly and provide great service. My 24 hour membership was actually declined and i found out it was because my membership was changed from Nation wide access to just regional access. The receptionist was very understanding about this and let me in the gym still. Once inside, i do gotta say the layout of the gym is a little off. not a fan of the 1st floor and 2nd floor set up. But overall I had a good chest day. The top floor has enough bench presses and weights are very organized. People there are friendly and organized. It wasn't too busy at 6am and was able to do all my sets without waiting for machines. I was very impressed with the amount of squat racks they had. Lots of open spaces to stretch and do plyometric work. Lighting is good too as they have big windows overlooking 7th street and it's cross street. My experience here was really good.

I called around 12pm and was told they were at lunch and would call back. I didn't get a call back, so I called again around 1:30 and was told they were still out. I waited another two hours (around 3:30pm), called back and was told they'd call me back around 4pm. Finally at 4:30pm, Jared finally called back, only to be told that the pricing we had previously discussed went from $55/month to $65/month. I understood that there was a price difference and was okay with it. Jared had quoted me what was going to be due upfront, roughly $270. I said okay and proceeded to give my credit card information and was told I was good to go. Five minutes later, I get a text from Jared stating the price mentioned did not include the two guest passes, which I had stated from the beginning to include the price. Overall, it was unprofessional to have me waiting four hours for a call just to be told the wrong price after giving my card information.

Her classes are thoughtful, challenging, and always leave me feeling stronger and more connected to my body. The level of instruction is truly unmatched - they don't just lead you through movements, they guide you, explain how you should feel in each exercise, when to breathe, how to align, and they correct your form in the kindest and most encouraging way.
