Beautiful, quaint toy store that provides free gift-wrapping. I have been coming here ever since I was young growing up in San Juan Capistrano. One can always find the perfect toy here. The store is large and there's always new products being brought in. I enjoy stopping by here to browse around. Looking at all the different toys allows me to find something great for all occasions. There is an amazing selection of stuffed animals, plushies, children's books, dolls, trains, board games, electronics, legos, dresses, figurines, and tons of classic toys from the 90's. The people who work here have really good recommendations if you want some direction. The gift wrapping looks great. They add a ribbon as well. The location is the best. While on a walk during a short vaca my daughter and I went into this toy store and instantly I felt like a giddy child again! My daughter, age 7 was heaven!!! She wanted everything and I wanted to buy her everything but so close to Christmas I had to note what she wanted and ended up getting her a giant slinky! In store they have so many cool toys and stuff like dolls, games, and lava lamps, things you normally can't find at target! There website is helpful too if you don't live near by! We were visiting Newport and stumbled upon this absolute cutest toy store! The ladies who worked there couldn't have been more welcoming and so knowledgeable on the products they sell. And they sell pretty much anything a kid could need or want! Lots of toys you don't find everywhere but also toys like Lego. This place is a Gem amongst toy stores in the area. Let me first start with the staff, they are not only kind and knowledgeable with everyday kids toys like legos, they are retired teachers who can help with finding the best sensory toys and award winning children's books. We were in last week and purchased Pokémon set for my son, unique beach toys by Waboba for our family and JellyCat (world softest made in London) stuffed hippopotamus for my daughter. We also picked up a Mailg gift for our home for Christmas. Love the quality and speciality of each item. A must see for anyone with kids or looking for that special something. In town visiting my parents who live in CDM and enjoying our visit. Everyone has been lovely and easy going. Then we passed this shop on our way home from the beach. Went in with my daughter and husband to let our daughter pick out a toy and THEN when I went to step out for a second to see how far down sees candies was - the owner (I'm supposing) of the store ran up to me and said "where are you going?" In somewhat of an implicit tone. Meanwhile I'm not carrying a tote or even my purse which was strapped to my yo-yo stroller in the store. A. I didn't realize parents weren't allowed to split up while tasking- could be SHOPLIFTING?? B. Is it a new sales tactic to ignore people in your store and then after 5 minutes run up to someone as they are leaving and say "where are you going" as a means to recoup a potentially lost sale? C. We are kind parents and promised our kid a toy- so we supported a small shop despite being treated narrowly. Neeevah Again. read more

The Wee Loft is the best toystore! As a Nonna of five grands and an special educator for many years I am super impressed with the selections available to teaching and learning and experiencing life! Tradition toys like Brio, Lego, Playmobil, Melissa and Doug! The beautiful Corelli dolls and Haba and Habe activity toys. Also my favorite Fat Brain development and age appropriate selections as well. The staff is eager and informed as well as friendly and in this Pandemic masked and social distanced. They even offer free gift wrapping!!! There Birthday Wish Basket is a joy for kids and parents and party goers! This is the only toy store you need to support! The Corona Del Mar store has parking behind the store and Dana Point is in a center with ample parking! What are you waiting for??!!! read more

Horrible customer service. I came in with the girls I babysit and the rude older woman working (around 5 on Tuesday) followed us around the store and watched us like a hawk. She then told my 7 year old that she is playing with baby toys which is not what a 7 year old wants to hear. After my girls checked out some toys around the store she asked me "are you even going to buy something?" Her last comment before we stormed out was "UGH you guys are touching EVERYTHING!!" These girls are very respectful and calm 7 and 10 year olds and I was watching them the whole time. They did nothing wrong. You can't work at a toy store and not expect children to look at the toys... unbelievable read more

This is the most non kid friendly toy store I have ever been to. The owner is so rude to kids and makes bad looks to her co workers if a kid messes up a display. I would shop here much more often if it wasn't such an awful experience to bring my kids in there each time. If you most shop, go alone without your kids. It's two days before Christmas. I stopped in at 10:30 a.m. No customers. I picked something for a baby relative, paid for it, and the sales person was very nice and wrapped it for me. I don't know if she's the older woman someone complained about but if she was, maybe she was just having a bad day that day. She was nice to me. And the store has German toys that are hard to find. First of all, no idea why this place has so many low reviews! I've been in this store, several times, with a consistently phenomenal experience! Despite other reviews, I have witnessed children visiting and purchasing from the store playing with various displayed toys and reading top rated books. There is something for every baby, toddler, child, teenager, and adult, with so much more! This store, besides toys, has many bestseller and top rated (Newberry award winning) books, and about all subjects imaginable. They have picture books about educational subjects, and novels for more advanced readers. As a teen, I have found many things that suit mine and others interests, and this is a toy store for everyone. The staff is wonderful and so kind, and most are retired children's teachers who want their young shoppers to learn as they explore this store and the world! One staff member, Tina, was a retired Special Ed teacher, helped me find a gift for my autistic cousin, which he absolutely loved! Nice little toy store with lots of variety. It's fun to look over all the toys - many very different from what is available in mass marketing shops and websites. Besides, I like to actually look at the toys before I buy them. I like the wrapping as well. I did have one problem there a few months ago when shopping for a grandchild. I was immediately asked whether it was a boy or a girl. I asked why that mattered and the sales clerk was clearly miffed at me. I said I didn't think toys should be classified as boy toys or girl toys - even Target has stopped doing that. My view received a very cold reception. HORRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE! I've shopped at the Wee Loft for years, I've even dealt with the long lines, as every customer takes advantage of the free gift wrap, so lines are extremely long. I was so disappointed with the service I received in the Corona Del Mar store. I received the holiday catalog in the mail, clipped my coupon, and decided to do some holiday shopping. The sales girl informed me that I needed to spend $50 or more to use the $10 off coupon, I said "no problem" and began to start shopping some more. Another sales girl said I can't use the coupon I brought in because it is not valid until December and the only coupon that is currently valid is the one on the back of the catalog. I told her I didn't save the catalog...and then a different sales girl found an extra copy with the coupon that was being honored so I had one to use. Then the other sales girl says "No, you can't do that, the coupon has to be from the catalog that was mailed to you!" I asked her if there was any way they would honor it, especially since there was an extra coupon sitting right there, but she refused. Good customer service in this case would be honoring the piddly coupon in order to make the customer happy and make the sale. I always try to shop at small mom and pop shops in the area, but I definitely will not be shopping at the Wee Loft anymore. I'll be sure to tell all my mom friends how much it sucks too. In fact, I found all the items I wanted on Amazon.com and Yoyo.com and they were significantly less, and I didn't even need a coupon! Plus I got free shipping! Weeee! read more
