This was my second visit to the Toy Box located on West Hermosa in San Clemente, and it definitely won't be my last. As a big Sanrio fan, especially Hello Kitty, this store immediately caught my attention when I saw Hello Kitty on the door sign. I was pleasantly surprised to find such a great selection of Sanrio merchandise inside. They also carry plenty of Peanuts, Disney, and other beloved character items, all displayed in a very organized and inviting way. I'd like to give a special shout-out to Roxanne, Karen, and Elena for their helpfulness and patience. I can be pretty particular about what I'm looking for, and they went above and beyond to assist me. The prices are very reasonable, and I know I'll be returning. read more

The owners of the store are so nice and helpful! They have everything from baseball cards to Christmas ornaments. I love all the different types of jerky too. I love all their exotic toys, and you can tell they put a lot of energy into making this the best possible place to shop for any kind of memorabilia! A+ read more

Such a great toy shop! Their online order system is smooth as well. Quick checkout process! I highly recommend this store.

Great prices!!! We went in for an item that is double the price on resale sites. They kept the actual price of the item and even rushed it to have in store before other stores. Excellent customer service!! Absolutely recommend! read more

The Toy Box - Nee Doh Swirl - Toy Stores Near Me - San Clemente, California

About 30 seconds after we walked into this store, my younger cousins (who are teenagers) were innocently passing a dog toy to each other, not really thinking much of it. The owner immediately rushed over and confronted them with an incredibly rude, accusatory tone--stating that they were "throwing the toy and would get it dirty, thus ruining it for other future customers." When my cousins apologized and denied that they threw the toy (politely, might I add), she was still very adamant and just all around nasty. She demanded that we have a parent present despite the fact that it was a toy store primarily for children... Moreover, my cousins were already accompanied by me-- an adult. But I suppose that didn't matter. Regardless, a grown woman should not be so eager to act rashly towards younger customers. This could've been handled in a gentle and calm manner. My younger cousins would definitely have obliged and continued with their shopping. We were not being obnoxious or loud in the slightest, so I was confused by her aggressive, immature attitude. Judging by the other reviews on here, this is not the first time this has happened. The funny part is, I was really debating purchasing a certain item, but after this encounter, I was immediately turned off. We left the store quickly. It was just a really uncomfortable experience. If the store wants to get business, then why are they antagonizing its main demographic? It's quite strange to hate children as a toy store owner. read more

PLEASE, PLEASE review items that you plan to purchase as this "specialty store" will double and even triple their prices. I'm sure that the signed FUNKOs are worth it but other items deserve their correct pricing. This past weekend my tween daughter spent her hard earned cash on a transformer set that was almost DOUBLE what it was worth. It was sold to us as a "collectors item", and it looked it, but honestly, we didn't know and ended up finding it online for much lesser. I called and tried to get some information and was pretty much told, "then, why did you buy it"? Really? Great customer service and that's all I need to know about this place. The excuse about "location pricing" is advantageous and opportunistic. There ARE CA retail price laws there will be researched and calls made. Never coming here ever and / or recommending this place. read more

I cannot say enough positive things about my experience with The Toy Box. They went above and beyond to help me find a sold out toy for my son's birthday. Their customer service was above and beyond. The store is also really cute with a great selection of toys and fantastic prices. read more

Just went in to get a highly solicited squishy ;) and they were so wonderful! Love that they were focused on making children happy rather than hiking up prices and selling out quickly! Thank you ladies!!!! read more

It's one star because 0 isnt a choice My sister used to go there all the time and look around she didn't always buy stuff as they are very expensive but she would look at stuff to save up for one day she went I and was looking at something and the store owner Delores told her to leave and to not come back because of "policy" but didn't say which policy My lil sister was so upset and I don't understand why the owner was so rude to her read more

Such a wonderful establishment! The owners are absolutely amazing and so personable. I recommend visiting the store 100%! They have everything from Squishmallows to life size cut outs (which they let me special order a specific character) for your party needs. Even just looking at the store windows brings your childhood dreams to life 10/10 recommend! On top of being my kids favorite store to go to, my daughter and I also attended their Margarette Kerry ,Tinkerbell, meet and greet. It was so personable and such a great experience being able to meet such a Disney icon. Keep an eye out for future events that they are hosting! Thank you for bringing such a gem to our town! read more

Delores is quite a jerk. We bought musical tv and asked if we can return. They say yes. We brought it back and she said exchange only. Then when we argued about it she called security and said I could not come back in store. Don't buy here. Rude nasty people. Buy at a reputable store. Return and exchange only is not the same thing. She knows she lies to customers which is why she is quick to call security. I see other yelp reviews that say she called security on them too. They should be out of business soon. read more

Absolutely love this place! It's a must stop whenever I'm at the outlets with my kids. Prices are good and selection is great! We buy a couple Tonies every time we are there. Better selection than any store I've been to, and I'd rather support The Toy Box than an online retailer. I've met the owners and they are really nice and helpful. I'll definitely be back read more

I think I was helped by the owner and he was super helpful and nice. He recommended variety of items for my kid. Good customer service here. The pricing could be a little better. I don't see myself coming back to this store because I just found out that the exact same item I just paid $40 here was available on Amazon for $24. I was gonna go return to get my money back but the receipt states that this store is an exchange only store so I decided not to waste my time for $16. read more

BRUH Kicked out the moment I walked in. I am a teen and I was kicked out immediately. Needs better workers! We aren't gonna burn down the store! Puzzles for the whole family, or challenging classic and new board games. Collectable funko pops including autographed funkos! There's a large christmas section with amazing statues, ornaments and high end decorations with desibgs of your favorite nostalgic characters like Peanuts and Disney. The Toy Box - Toy Stores Near Me - San Clemente, California

This is literally one of the best stores at The Outlets! The Toy Box isn't your typical everyday toy store nor should be treated like one! My favorite thing about this store is that the quality of their stuff is on peak, you know when you go to Walmart and almost all the toys are thrown around or scratched up? Yea you won't find that here. Which makes it so worth shopping because you get the best quality for the best prices. They have really cool collectors items too and so many things to choose from. If you have a chance to meet the owners, do it! They are so passionate in what they do and it shows right when you walk in the store. Every time I have family or friends over I bring them here. I personally am obsessed with Disney and Hello kitty and I try not to spend all my money here read more

My personal opinion quick summary: I WOULD KEEP MY CHILDREN AWAY FROM THIS STORE! The owner of this store goes by the name of Dolores and let me tell you, she treated us like an absolute LUNATIC!! She watchesd my little children like a hawk and pounced on them yelling and scolding them not to touch any of the toys (in a kids toy store) and went BIZERK! We spoke to the security guards about it and they confirmed multiple reports of this happening! Read all the other reviews on Yelp and Google and you will see for yourself that this is a common recurrence at this place and for my family, is to be avoided at all costs! read more

Always happy to support LOCAL businesses, especially one that is Family owned!!! (A veteran and wife who are both very nice!) Thanks Dolores for your excellent service. Wishing you much success! read more

I have been buying birthday gifts and love Gifts for mine, my family and friends little ones and love this store! This is the only place I go!! It is not your typical toy store. I bought my 1 yr old niece a singing moving teddy bear, It was such a hit. She would walk up and kiss it! The couple that own this shop are so very nice. They know what kids and buyers want. I really appreciate the selection! Good job! read more

This store seems to be struggling to find it's identity, while the name suggests a toy store, it has very few toys and instead is a smattering of collectible Disney statues, some Funko Pops, a few games and some puzzles along with some Christmas decorations. The biggest question mark is the Funko Pops, none of which are priced, there is a small sign indicating that they start at $16.99 and that they are not priced because they are collectible, but that they will scan them for you. Why not put them in a pop protector? Most items they one have one or two off which leads me to think this is more of a personal collection rather than a true toy store. Worth a quick stop if you are here but not a special trip. read more

Love this store! I am so fortunate to know Dolores and have worked for her and her husband Sean as a teen. Now I have daughters of my own (4,6, and 9yrs) that I can bring to the store which makes it extra special. My girls love shopping in there and Dolores always loves on my girls when we're there. They adore her:) Wide variety of toys and collectibles! Highly recommend! :)) read more

Absolutely horrendous customer service from the younger employee working on Memorial Day. You're a toy store, expect kids to be coming in and checking things out. Why in the hell would you have glistening Christmas trees up with overpriced ornaments in APRIL. My kid barely touched an ornament and she snapped at him. He's 2. Got out of there immediately. On top of that everything is overpriced. You're better off going to target ladies and gents. read more

The owners are extremely kind people despite what some reviews may say. The first time I visited San Clemente, I walked into their store to buy one of their toys. The owner greeted me and was extremely kind to me and gave me great customer service. Whenever I visit San Clemente, I will definitely shop here again. (My only complaint would be that there aren't enough transformers figures!) read more

To add to all the other bad reviews of the owner being very rude and targeting children for being children in a toy store, I went in with my three small children and as a paying customer I'm never going back. she touched my 13 month olds hands scolding him to not touch the Christmas tree/ toys and rudely said "mam watch your kids" not one thing was out of place or ruined or broken and she embarrassed me infront of the other customer's & my own children yelling for me to "watch my children" DO NOT TAKE YOUR KIDS HERE read more

Super rude service and told us to get out if we weren't gonna buy anything with a big attitude, and judged us of stealing bc of the way we dress and had eyes on us from the start, and ran out of the store harassing us cause they thought we stole and made us come all the way back to the store to show the rude ass lady where we put it, please don't come here if u don't wanna be harassed and judged by how you are as a human. To add on we were there to pick up something for my little sister but after that visit i'm never going back. read more
