This was my second visit to the Toy Box located on West Hermosa in San Clemente, and it definitely won't be my last. As a big Sanrio fan, especially Hello Kitty, this store immediately caught my attention when I saw Hello Kitty on the door sign. I was pleasantly surprised to find such a great selection of Sanrio merchandise inside. They also carry plenty of Peanuts, Disney, and other beloved character items, all displayed in a very organized and inviting way. I'd like to give a special shout-out to Roxanne, Karen, and Elena for their helpfulness and patience. About 30 seconds after we walked into this store, my younger cousins (who are teenagers) were innocently passing a dog toy to each other, not really thinking much of it. The owner immediately rushed over and confronted them with an incredibly rude, accusatory tone--stating that they were "throwing the toy and would get it dirty, thus ruining it for other future customers." When my cousins apologized and denied that they threw the toy (politely, might I add), she was still very adamant and just all around nasty. She demanded that we have a parent present despite the fact that it was a toy store primarily for children... Moreover, my cousins were already accompanied by me-- an adult. But I suppose that didn't matter. Regardless, a grown woman should not be so eager to act rashly towards younger customers. This could've been handled in a gentle and calm manner. My younger cousins would definitely have obliged and continued with their shopping. We were not being obnoxious or loud in the slightest, so I was confused by her aggressive, immature attitude. Judging by the other reviews on here, this is not the first time this has happened. The funny part is, I was really debating purchasing a certain item, but after this encounter, I was immediately turned off. We left the store quickly. It was just a really uncomfortable experience. If the store wants to get business, then why are they antagonizing its main demographic? It's quite strange to hate children as a toy store owner. read more

PLEASE, PLEASE review items that you plan to purchase as this "specialty store" will double and even triple their prices. I'm sure that the signed FUNKOs are worth it but other items deserve their correct pricing. This past weekend my tween daughter spent her hard earned cash on a transformer set that was almost DOUBLE what it was worth. It was sold to us as a "collectors item", and it looked it, but honestly, we didn't know and ended up finding it online for much lesser. I called and tried to get some information and was pretty much told, "then, why did you buy it"? Really? Great customer service and that's all I need to know about this place. The excuse about "location pricing" is advantageous and opportunistic. There ARE CA retail price laws there will be researched and calls made. Such a wonderful establishment! The owners are absolutely amazing and so personable. I recommend visiting the store 100%! They have everything from Squishmallows to life size cut outs (which they let me special order a specific character) for your party needs. Even just looking at the store windows brings your childhood dreams to life 10/10 recommend! On top of being my kids favorite store to go to, my daughter and I also attended their Margarette Kerry ,Tinkerbell, meet and greet. Delores is quite a jerk. We bought musical tv and asked if we can return. They say yes. We brought it back and she said exchange only. Then when we argued about it she called security and said I could not come back in store. Don't buy here. Rude nasty people. Buy at a reputable store. Return and exchange only is not the same thing. She knows she lies to customers which is why she is quick to call security. I see other yelp reviews that say she called security on them too. They should be out of business soon. read more

I think I was helped by the owner and he was super helpful and nice. He recommended variety of items for my kid. Good customer service here. The pricing could be a little better. I don't see myself coming back to this store because I just found out that the exact same item I just paid $40 here was available on Amazon for $24. I was gonna go return to get my money back but the receipt states that this store is an exchange only store so I decided not to waste my time for $16. read more

This is literally one of the best stores at The Outlets! The Toy Box isn't your typical everyday toy store nor should be treated like one! My favorite thing about this store is that the quality of their stuff is on peak, you know when you go to Walmart and almost all the toys are thrown around or scratched up? Yea you won't find that here. Which makes it so worth shopping because you get the best quality for the best prices. They have really cool collectors items too and so many things to choose from. My personal opinion quick summary: I WOULD KEEP MY CHILDREN AWAY FROM THIS STORE! The owner of this store goes by the name of Dolores and let me tell you, she treated us like an absolute LUNATIC!! She watchesd my little children like a hawk and pounced on them yelling and scolding them not to touch any of the toys (in a kids toy store) and went BIZERK! We spoke to the security guards about it and they confirmed multiple reports of this happening! I have been buying birthday gifts and love Gifts for mine, my family and friends little ones and love this store! This is the only place I go!! It is not your typical toy store. I bought my 1 yr old niece a singing moving teddy bear, It was such a hit. She would walk up and kiss it! The couple that own this shop are so very nice. They know what kids and buyers want. This store seems to be struggling to find it's identity, while the name suggests a toy store, it has very few toys and instead is a smattering of collectible Disney statues, some Funko Pops, a few games and some puzzles along with some Christmas decorations. The biggest question mark is the Funko Pops, none of which are priced, there is a small sign indicating that they start at $16.99 and that they are not priced because they are collectible, but that they will scan them for you. Why not put them in a pop protector? Most items they one have one or two off which leads me to think this is more of a personal collection rather than a true toy store. Worth a quick stop if you are here but not a special trip. read more

Why in the hell would you have glistening Christmas trees up with overpriced ornaments in APRIL. My kid barely touched an ornament and she snapped at him. He's 2. Got out of there immediately.
