Pretty typical Wisconsin small town bar. Not a lot of seating inside. Doesn't matter if you choose a table or a booth you are up close with other tables. Waitress went by saying she would be right with us at least five times before we got menus. Said she would be right back with water. 15 minutes later we asked for water. When she brought it we wouldn't let her leave until she took our order. 20 minutes or more later we got our food. Everything fried was way over cooked. It tasted like the fryer oil was old and over used. My sandwich on a ciabatta roll, the roll was too hard to bite. There was no mayo on the sandwich and the house made BBQ sauce I requested was not included. Chicken wings, tenders, cheese curds and most of the fries were not eaten. There were 3 guys working in the kitchen. They need more training. Our waitress was trying really hard to keep up while the bartender and 2 other servers did nothing but talk at the bar. The food at this place was great!!! The appetizer was super good, broccoli bites. We wished we had gotten 3 orders. My main was the Cuban sandwich and fries. The sandwich was really good and the fries were crispy. The place gives local college hang out spot. Which didn't bother us being were from Madison and everything is a college hangout there too. I have frequented this place over the past 5 years and I think it keeps on getting better - the menu is full of options but well laid out and they are not picky about substitutes. Staff is always friendly and accommodating, multiple tap beers and a few locals. I've had everything here from chicken sandwiches and wraps to burgers and fish fry and I have not been disappointed yet. They even have GF bun options and will also do wraps in romaine. The only good thing about this place is the view from the patio is pretty great. Though the patio itself feels old and the seating is cheap. If you don't like greasy, definitely stay away from this place. Everything seems to be fried. Sometimes fried can be great, but you could tell from the taste of the cheese tater tots that everything is fried in the same old grease. I could taste the seafood they probably fried a month ago on my tater tots. I got a Philly Cheesesteak. It did not taste good at all. And it's pretty had to mess up a Philly Cheesesteak. We came here Friday night at 6pm and it was pretty busy for seating outside. So, we decided to get a table inside. The service was pretty fast with our waitress. We ordered the Friday special and got the fish fry. I got the deep fried cod along with side salad. My wife got the baked cod with fries. Overall, we thought the deep fried cod was better than baked cod but it was good to try both. For $12.99, the fish fry basket was very generous with 4 large pieces. At Target Field, I paid the same with 2 skinny walleye strips and fries. Oh well, I was paying stadium price food so shouldn't complain. This place is definitely the best place for fish fry and would rank it better than any Culver's. Just beware if crowds are bigger since the menu states their small kitchen. I read about the venue ahead of time so I was aware that the inside was small and there might be a wait for food. We were celebrating my brother's birthday. He was happy. Sat out on the patio with my family this past Sunday. Blonde waitress walked by our table about 5 times, gave everyone a menu that came in after us and sat down. After she came through the doors about 10 min later she walked right up to the table across from us , I said excuse me twice in a pretty loud voice to get her attention and she turned her back on me and started talking to the other table. This is a great bar for Menombomb. They without a doubt have the best bloody marys in town! Oh, and the waterfront certainly doesn't mess around with loading those bad boys up, either! To top it all off, chasers are not of the crappy variety--two hearted? Eff yeah! Unlike seemingly every other bar in downtown, they are relatively consistent and have (as far as I know) never changed their name or closed. I only come here as an alum when I want to stay away from the real "collegey" (thanks Stout for the education!) bars and lay low. They serve typical bar food, but as you can see, my love for this place comes from the bloody marys (honestly, look at my picture and your mouth may start watering). It does overlook lake Menomin, scenic yes, but do yourself a favor and stay inside in August (that lake STINKS). Cheers! read more

Since we are a retired couple living in Menomonie we don't go out to eat often, but if we want a burger or other sandwich or maybe Friday night fish, the Waterfront is a favorite spot. We prefer to go early before the college crowd and others make it busy but have always had good service and good food. Latest visit was when a son and small grandson were in town. The waitress mentioned that ribs were the special that evening and she would check and see if they might be done early for us, and they were, so one of us got them and they were very good. I had the EBTKS burger which is almost too big to bite into. Nice to see beer on tap from two of the local breweries, too. I've found that the staff is always friendly and pleasant, even though there is a lot of turnover as college students. And we almost always run into a friend or two while we are there. read more

Delicious Bloody Mary's served here! My family goes here on occasion for drinks and burgers after a family celebration. It's kind of a tradition. Although beware the college crowd on Thursday-Saturday evenings and the weekend parent visits. But they have a great patio and a surprising amount of seating. Our waitresses have always been friendly and prompt. We usually get a basket of cheese curds too. The food is fine and I'm not sure how this place became our Menomonie "go to" but it's just your typical small town joint with good food and good people, but nothing else truly outstanding. read more

Visiting friends in this part of Wisconsin was absolutely lovely, especially topped off with a delicious supper with a lake view. This rustic ambiance, great customer service and food fit for a Queen filled my soul. Drinks came out right away. I had a perfectly made Martini. Our group all had the Prime Rib with all the fixings. They were perfectly prepared, tender, juicy and delicious. The restaurant was clean, the staff friendly and the prices appropriate. There is plenty of seating inside and outside. I highly recommend "the one pounder". Apparently they marinate their meat overnight (all burgers on the menu) and clearly this is the key to THE BEST burger I've ever had. New to the area, I recently yelped the closest restaurant to us while passing through Menominee. The Waterfront's name, alone, is enough to entice. So we stopped in. Reliable bar food for a fair price. The Californian burger is my go to. The service is sometimes slow when the bar fills up but it is a small bar with a small kitchen and people pack in quickly. At times the servers are stretched thin (mainly on nights with good specials) but all of the servers I have been helped by at the waterfront are very attentive and knowledgeable about the menu. If you buy a waterfront shirt everything you order is half off on Sundays. This is a great deal and it will pay for itself in a few weeks. For real, do this! You won't regret it. Side note: if you're looking for a cheap snack with drinks get an appetizer order of fries. They serve you a huge basket of fries which is a bargain for what you pay. read more

"Rustic" is an euphemistic way to describe the decor of this place. Definitely got the laid-back, dive-y bar/lake house feel to it. Food was pretty bad and the service was definitely slow. EXCELLENT FOOD! What a variety of good food! This is a college style bar so don't be surprised seeing young people eating and getting hammered at Noon but the food is amazing. The first two times we went here it was so busy there was no seats. So i figured it has to be good. CORRECT! The atmosphere is a typical bar but in the summer you can sit outside and enjoy the sun and the smelly lake! Nice bar and grill! I had the fish fry with a salad. The fish was delicious. Batter fried perfectly with flaky fish. Salad was made with multi greens and tasted crisp. I had a blue moon beer and it came with a frosted mug. A great place to go for fish!! A must stop in to try!! read more
