It always seems like there is a really relaxed vibe and the low lighting and heated bar really add to this experience. I used to think that The Abbey was just a bar (by no means a bad thing!) but I stopped in for lunch and had a spectacular pulled pork sandwich a few days ago. Dare I say it... The best pulled pork sandwich in downtown Menomonie?! The sauce sounds like it would be weird because there is mustard in it but I can confirm that it is delicious and really makes the sandwich. Props to The Abbey for having a limited menu and having a few really good dishes instead of a bunch of average bar food. Apart from the atmosphere, food and staff there are really good drink specials at The Abbey as well! Every day there is a near unbearable special. When school is in session these deals are definitely taken advantage of by the Stout students. If I had to credit this place for just one thing it would be that the building itself is such a relaxing place. No flashing lights, no overly loud music and no amateur DJ screaming at the top of their lungs like other bars in Menomonie. Even yet, if inside is a little too much you can always step out onto the patio. If you're looking for a relaxed cocktail in Menomonie this is your place.

Flight choices were Brickyard a Red Rye IPA, Brunch a Brown Ale brewed with coffee, Slow Hand a Robust American Stout and Space is the Place a Double Oatmeal Stout. There was a decent selection of vinyl....not sure if they have a record player or it's just fun "decoration"? My friend gave me the explanation of the names on the shelving behind her. Again....fer cute!! I won't divulge it, go on & ask for yourself, I think it'd be funner hearing it in person from an owner! One friend opted for an Inbound beer. After having Brenda pour me a taste of Chubby Chipmonk Pale Wheat, which was good but better than a standard wheat beer since it's a Pale Wheat, so if you're looking for a muted beer, this isn't it, so go on and taste it. I asked my other friend f I could have a sip of his Bicycle Brown? There it is....that's what my palate is looking for! I opted for a pint of Bicycle Brown Ale... it hit the mark....as I still had a couple hour drive in front of me to the cities.
