We stopped by on a Thursday evening. We arrived right before 5pm and there was plenty of seating. The bartender came over right away to take our orders. The restaurant is small, nothing fancy, but pleasant enough, the music in the background not too loud. We started off with cheese curds, which were served in a tall cone. The curds were fantastic, crisp, chewy, and squeaky. We added an order of ranch on the side, and I was really impressed by it; our server said it was house-made, too. For my main dish, I had the chicken enchiladas tacos. Now, I'm from California, and I look at any Midwest takes on Mexican food with a critical eye, but these were really good tacos! My husband had the maple whiskey burger and really enjoyed his meal. I sneaked one of his fries and found it to be delicious. The restaurant was getting really busy about 5:30 as were we needing to pay and leave, so that process was a bit slow, but that is really the only criticism of our stop here. 5 stars for the chicken taco: slightly spicy and light 3 stars for the fish taco: too thick of breading that does not belong into a taco. Also, was not warm enough like the chicken taco. The breading dies not belong in here. Clean place and courteous employees. Large parking and on Main Street. I will definitely come back again and eat the chicken taco or one of their hamburgers. Price is within normal range for restaurants. There is a large front window good floods this place with light and helps you keep an eye on your car outside in case you are driving a Tesla or a Lamborghini. read more

First time tonight eating/drinking here. The beer was delightfully cold and very reasonably priced. Service was fast and very friendly and our server graciously put up an umbrella when it started to drizzle when we were sitting on the patio. I had the Rachel and hubby had the rueben. In Ellsworth, WI this week and stopped in Common Man. This place is my favorite part of Ellsworth! In fact, Wisconsin is totally impressing with their breweries. This is a tap house with about 25 beers on tap from Wisconsin breweries. I had the Central Waters Rye Barrel Stout and like any barrel stouts, it does not disappoint! Our friendly and informative waitress recommended the Hop & Barrel Lemon Break and it is so refreshing and delicious, it's hard to put down! They have a good menu with specials every day. Wednesday is BOGO burgers. They cater to both carnivores and vegetarians alike! read more

I have been a customer of common man since it opened I have been there most weeks the first years until a change in ownership, bought growlers, ordered food every weeks over Covid, went through ups and downs of ownerships but tonight was a total epiphany. The 2 waitresses were incompetent, We finished the cheese curds before our drinks came in. Then we got splashed with tomato salsa from one of the waitresses No napkin to clean up The waitress grab a rag from the kitchen and cleaned my pans with it Ordered battered fries and got corn chips Fries took 20 minutes to show up Asked 4 times 2 waitresses and then went to ask the owner at the bar for cutlery and napkins Took over 30 minutes to get cutlery Customers that came after us had been served with cutlery, napkins before us. Asked for the tab that surprisingly came quickly $76 for a few drinks cheese curds and 2 burgers In Ellsworth WI Gave my CC It came back $88 I asked if it was my tab? Yes we forgot your last drinks the waitress said. Could not leave without giving a minimal tip So ended with$104 for cheese curds 2 burgers a few drinks, ruined pans (2) tee shirt and sweater I never wrote bad comments but tonight was my worst food / restaurant experience in 60 years and I don't understand that neither waitresses or owner did anything to mitigate the situation I am not saying don't go to there. Hopefully you will have a Better experience than mine tonight but it was the last time I go there for lunch or dinner read more

We both had the campfire burger. Can you say incredible? Boy, they are doing it right so far. But they need to brew their own beer! They had good beer choices though. The atmosphere was great. We will be back again We are from the cities and do road trips a lot. I will recommend to anyone. Keep up the awesome work. People need to come and support this fine place! Came here on my birthday 10/20 from St Paul just for the poutine as I read it was the best.. first of all my bartender was amazing.. I didn't get his name but he was awesome. He was welcoming, funny, attentive and informative. I just moved to MN from AZand had heard about this infamous "Spotted Cow" beer so since I was in Wisconsin it was time to indulge... let me just say ahhhhh! I call myself a beer lover and this didn't disappoint. We opted to try the potato cheese soup and it was a cup Of heaven. Ironically we got the last two bowls so I know it was meant for us to have. The poutine came and it was savory but I can admit I don't love cheese curds lol. I understand it's a thing here but, I can pass. The gravy however was really tasty and seasoned just right. As we sat at the bar the place begin to fill up. We asked for a ginger ale and oddly enough there wasn't any but, fret not because our bartender MADE US ONE FROM SCRATCH and damn was it good. Our drive was beautiful, the service and food was great. Having lunch in Wisconsin for my birthday was a great experience and we look forward to coming back. read more

Update: 7/16/17 I'm docking a star. The food is still incredible. The service is very attentive and informed. But they still don't brew their own beer. You cannot call yourself a brewery if you don't brew your own. As a brewery advocate and aficionado, this is not cool. First review. This is the easiest review ever to write! Food is incredible. The poutine is delicious. We aptly renamed it "Rueben poutine". Tender corned beef. Crisp sauerkraut. Ridiculous beer cheese sauce. Yum! Also had the cheese curds; can't get much fresher. They came over from the creamery down the street. Service is impeccable. We went during their 1st anniversary celebration on a gorgeous saturday afternoon. We ordered the first round at the bar and then moved outside. Whenever we needed service, the bartender, or another server, was right there. The teamwork factor between the staff is noteworthy. We even had a nice chat with the co-owner. Such a funny lady. Was nice to get her take on the business. Disappointing that they don't brew their own yet, but they will get there. Give them credit for realizing that dining options were limited in town and not only filled that void, but filled it well. Kudos CMB! will definitely be back! read more

Excellent food. Seriously, great pub food. We had the jerk chicken and an excellent chicken sandwich called the Froghorn Leghorn. I will be back to try the Mac N Cheese Poutine. Very generous portions. They do not, repeat, do not brew their own beer, which I found a but deceiving. They have a good beer list but it is extreme. Lots of craft pilsners and lagers juxtaposed to imperial IPAs, with not much inbetween. Beer prices are a bit high for the area but not too expensive. The downfall is the environment. A warehouse look without the industrial charm of such a place. Restrooms are right next to the tables. The seating is limited. There is a huge projection screen on one end that is completely overwhelming. I like the concept but they need a different space. I suggest to sit at the bar. Overall, I like this place primarily due to the food. It really is good. I certainly will be back. read more

Went on a road trip in western WI and stopped at this place. Thought it was a brewery but as it turns out they haven't started their Nano brewery yet but they had 22 delicious beers on tap anyway. Ballast Point Grapefruit Sculpin and Founders Black Rye were my choices but they also had favorites such as Surly Furious, Bells 2 hearted, Nitro Chub, etc... We ordered lunch and the burger was far above my expectations. I did the NFC Black and Blue and it was amazing. The burger was hand pressed fresh, cooked to perfection and perfectly seasoned. The Bleu Cheese dressing was homemade and they topped it off with fried Ellsworth Cheese curds and camelized onions. It was possibly the best burger I have ever had! My wife had the Flatbread which also impressed. The little Italy Flatbread had roasted peppers and big chunks of pepperoni with a tomato sauce and cheese. Very good. I look forward to coming back not only to eat but also try their beer once they kick off the Nano brewery. Would recommend to anybody whether it be to eat or drink. read more

Nice place. Love the old metal lunch boxes. Reminds me of my father. Tap selection is above average. Menu is decent. Not overly big, which is good to see. However execution of food isn't always good. Burgers have been alright at times, then flavorless and crumbly at other times. IMHO too many toppings are added to the burgers. Less is more, if you have good burger meat. Allow the burger to shine, not five different toppings. Charging for the LTO seems cheap also. Other sandwiches are just ok to me. Too much bread to meat ratio. Usually been dry and I literally have to cut my crust off. Salads look good haven't tried any yet. Service is very spotty. I've had excellent service at times and also horrendous service at times. All and all a great place to enjoy pints and simple food. I'll continue to patronage this place. read more

Ellsworth definitely needs a place like this! Beer selection was decent, but they were out of couple of IPAs when I was there. When I asked for a hoppy beer that wasn't especially malty, the server gave me a taste of a hefeweizen. A little odd, but a lot of small town places are don't even know what an IPA is, so I can forgive them for that. My meal was A+. I had the meatloaf sandwich with sidewinder fries. For pub fare, it was incredibly good. I would definitely go back! read more

The tap selection at Common Man was great. Both the beer and the cider my partner and I had were awesome! The food was adequate. Both my partner and I had burgers. They didn't ask how we wanted them done, which always makes us a little hesitant when we order burgers. They were OK. We would have stayed for a second drink, but the service was terrible. No one checked in on how our food was, and the second drink our server brought us was the wrong thing. We waited a long time to order and get our food. read more

Overpriced! It was $11.99 for a Cubano sandwich and flavorless chips. The sandwich was on a 4" square ciabatta roll. The pork was dry. The chips were awful. I will say though. The campfire burger was fantastic. It was still a steep at $12.99 for the burger and flavorless chips. Fortunately we got fries with that burger, for an additional $2. Don't know that I will go back to eat. read more

The bartender was very rude upon our entrance claiming we didn't reserve an Igloo when they had open ones. I did indeed reserve but he was very rude and claimed he didn't have any reservations under the letter of my name. However the waitress was super nice!
