Service is excellent considering one person was working the whole room. My husband really enjoyed the Biscuits and Gravy. He added eggs. My Biscuit Sliders were very good. I would skip the pickled onion next time as it was very sour. I added cheese for $1 but it was just a couple sprinkles. The breakfast potatoes are excellent and a don't miss. You know it's amazing food when you bump into your niece who is another food obsessed family member. She lives over an hour away. I live in Redwing 15 minutes from the bleu dog. The flavor is coming out of this kitchen are always special. I visit often. Jenny is always there welcoming everyone , her husband is the chef. You can see him working hard in the kitchen. I love that you can see the kitchen. Today's special was Cajun hash. The sausage was flavorful. potatoes are always amazing. Eggs are fresh. onions, peppers, cheese. My friend had the fried rice, curry eggs, vegetables we ended with blueberry pancakes smothered with fresh cream because it was my friend's birthday. I'm still full hours later. Definitely make reservations and check the hours on the website. Sometimes they are closed for catering jobs. I finally got over here. The ride up and back is beautiful. So I got 2 perfectly OE eggs with bacon. It's the thick kind which isn't my favorite cause it usually comes out rubbery. Not here, it's actually a little greasy which helps maintain the moisture and flavor. I was anxious to try the skin on home fries. They are an unusual cut which makes it easy to stab them with the fork and dip in the ketchup. Speaking of they have 14 oz. bottles of Heinz which is the perfect size and I wish they sold them in stores for singles. I got cheddar biscuits to go. The hash specials were very tempting, now it will be tempting to not order the basic breakfast, just delicious. Coffee is served with raw sugar, my favorite. I skipped the gooey bars to bring home. Amazing little cafe in Welch!! We pass through once per year and this is definitely going to be an annual stop! The menu had very unique local ingredients and it was hard to choose just one item! It came with a side cup of fake maple syrup (my only complaint). My boyfriend had eggs, bacon, & breakfast potatoes. He said it was fast....I stole some of the bacon...very yummy! The location is in an OLD bank, very fun! It is a small location, but we were there around 9 a.m. on a dreary, fall Saturday morning. I think there were only 2 other occupied tables. Was in town for a show. Looked for restaurant on google maps! The reviews suggest this is a great place with a 4.5 star rating. We went out of the way, to check this place out! Sat down and waited to be served.. Eventually the waitress came over and states all the tables were reserved at 10, about 50 minutes from the time we got there. She stated that it wasn't enough time for us to eat there. She was rude and unpleasant.. do not recommend at all. read more

This cafe was a happy surprise when we rolled into Welch. We missed breakfast by a couple minutes after 11am, (The breakfast at a nearby table looked fabulous) but settled into the lunch menu. Cous cous salad was good, fries with garlic aioli mayo delicious, but the cheeseburger.....the star! Cheesy, juicy, and cooked perfectly. Service was prompt and friendly. This is one hidden gem truly next door to the old brick post office. Previously the "Trout Scream" in Welch, MN., hosts a culinary genious. Today Cajun (no-- not too spicy!) Shrimp Quiche and the BEST bar none, take it from me, Bread Pudding French Toast. Seared and smothered in fresh, handmade Irish cream sauce, and real caramel. "Top 10 hidden best restaurants in MN" just got better. Not crowded and steps away from ski slopes. The Help is generous, kind, and lovely. My wife and I stopped in on our little trip to LaCrosse. We were greeted by a surprising menu of fantastic foods. Our waitress took the time to not only greet us but to get to know us.
