I've been a patron of The Watch Pocket for about 25 years, since the days it was around the corner near CVS. Matt has always taken great care of our family's watches. He's smart, helpful and honest. Today, he resurrected my favorite watch, which I'd left by accident in a puddle of water on a counter and was no longer working. He definitely made my day. I highly recommend The Watch Pocket! read more

This was the second place I went to get my watch fixed. The first place in Rockville ended up taking about 4 months, and that was for a "consultation" to get a battery replaced & a cleaning at the cost of $125. After I declined their offer I went to The Watch Pocket. Matthew worked on the watch while I observed and he educated me on a few things: on the watch itself, the fact that it did not need "cleaning", the ease of simply replacing a broken piece, options for replacing a watch band & modifying it for my thin wrist, most importantly & impressively, his story behind The Watch Pocket (just ask him). All of that in about an hour and, most importantly, less than $125. I will always highly recommend Matthew to anyone that needs watch repair, hands down. read more

I stopped in here to get my grandfather's 50 year old pocket watch working again. I was in-and-out after 10 minutes. The staff is very knowledgable and answered all my questions with ease. This is my go-to store for all things related to clocks/pocket watches. I highly recommend this family run store. The father and son team know what they are doing. read more

This is the place to go if you need to repair any watch or clock! It's so nice to find a quality family run business that offers expert repair at a fair price. The watch looks like new, works perfectly, and was repaired immediately while we waited. It's so hard to find true expertise and fair prices as well. I'm so sorry that I went to another place in Kensington on antique row several months ago with an antique, family pocket watch. Now I know that I was totally ripped off and had to wait several months for it to be repaired. At the Watch Pocket, they have experienced, trained experts and have been in business for 50 years. I was so impressed and pleasantly surprised. The owners are very friendly and pleasant, too. All of my watches and clocks will be repaired at this store in the future. read more

I've been going here for years. They have excellent customer service and really know what they are doing. I have several old clocks and watches and the Watch Pocket keeps them all running smoothly. read more

They're very knowledgeable and helpful. They've been able to fix any broken watch I've ever had. They'll order a timepiece for you if it's not in stock. read more

The top-notch service complements the excellent selection and competitive prices at this old-fashioned, personal watch shop. I spotted the sign for this out-of-the way shop while at the nearby Starbucks, and as I had decided to buy my wife a watch for our anniversary, I gave it a try. Boy, am I glad I did! Matt listened to what I wanted and found some nice watches, any of which would have been very good. But then he took the time to help me find the watch that would be exactly right. He was genuinely helpful and very discreet about making sure to find the best watch in my price range. There was none of the snobbishness or condescension that one so often gets at jewelry stores - just a guy who really loves watches trying to match the customer and the watch. A real breath of fresh air! By the way, my wife loves the watch! Worth the trip and highly recommended. read more

Great family-owned business with fantastic, friendly service. The owner personally helped us repair heirloom jewelry and a grandfather clock. They also seem to have a variety of watches and unique jewelry as gifts. read more

Matt Stohlman continues the amazing good work and service his dad did. Whether it is a simple battery change in a watch or fixing the finest jewelry The WP is the only place to go. Been going there 20 years+ and it is as good as it gets. read more

Nifty little watch repair and jewelry store tucked away in the back of the shopping center. If you like personal one on one service that is not the big box store experience this is for you. It's basically a one man operation but Matt does give you his attention while he's serving you. Yes, it might take a minute for him to finish up with his previous customer but once you have his attention he is very service oriented. He knows his stuff as well. My wife and I took in five watches in various needs of repair. He told us which were worth repairing, which weren't, and completed the work quickly. He also has a good selection of custom jewelry that he has made himself. I particularly liked his pieces made from various watch and clock parts. Stop in and check it out. Oh, one last thing. I really like that he has a great lay-a-way policy. Basically put down what you wish, pay something each month, basically take as long as you like. I really like this as I often find pieces I like but don't have the cash to purchase right away, this allows me to get the jewelry I want/like and not break my budget or incur credit card debt and interest. read more

I went to Watch Pocket for the minor matter of having the batteries changed in a couple of watches. But, as is often true for jewelry and watches, the items had great sentimental value to me. So, I was happy to have them handled professionally and promptly at a business with such a great reputation. And the price was reasonable. It was a little tricky to find the place as the entrance is not on the front of this small strip mall. And the owner, by his tone in responding to my telephoned request for directions, was clear that he has lost patience with giving them! But I am glad to have found the shop and would trust it again with a watch or jewelry repair. read more

Thanks for a great and quick service! My wood watch fits perfectly since my links were removed. You now have a customer. read more

Came in to get 2 watch batteries replaced and walked out 5 minutes later with everything running perfectly. Pricing was fair and and service was great. read more

My husband and I have engaged the services of The Watch Pocket for the last ten years, to maintain and repair our antique wall clock and anniversary clock. They are superb. We had tried several other businesses in the area before we found The Watch Pocket, and those did not do nearly as good a job. The Watch Pocket is has always been a family business on operation for many years, the Stollman family. They really appreciate clocks and are true experts. They are honest and do not advise more maintenance than what is needed. We highly recommend The Watch Pocket for your clock and watch repairs! They also sell both, so if you're in the market for either, check them out. read more

The Watch Pocket is the place to go for something as simple as having a new battery put in your watch, or sophisticated repair work for a high-end timepiece. I have used their services for both, and have been very satisfied. I wouldn't go anywhere else. read more

I had two mantle clocks, one old and one very old, that were not working properly. A shop owner in Kensington Antique Alley suggested I take my beloved timepiece to The Watch Pocket. I agree with other reviewers in saying STOP going anywhere else. this *is the place to go. The owners are honest and communicate brilliantly about the insides of timepieces. They fellow who is the expert show maker there explained why my two clocks weren't keeping time correctly, make some tiny adjustments, educated me on how to keep them running properly and sent me on my way without charging me a penny. Even though The Watch Pocket is not particularly close to my home, I'll forever more go out of my way to go there to support and applaude the owners and their business. THANK YOU!! read more

Great selection of vintage timepieces at good prices. I bought one that is running flawlessly. Have had them repair/service a couple of other Swiss modern time pieces. Very satisfied with those too. I also like the fact they are a family business and they treat you with respect. Highly recommended. read more

I went to The Watch Pocket not intending to have all three of my watches fixed right on the spot, but that's what happened! Two repair-specific places had already turned down a band repair on a sentimental watch, but now it's fixed along with my other two that just needed batteries. One place said the Citizen would need to go to a watchmaker--it just needed a battery. You will get great customer service and knowledge here. Highly recommended and celebrating 50 years. read more

My father and I both collect watches and we both come here for all our watch maintenance and repairs. We have been going to the Watch Pocket for many years. Matt and Gene are very competent, reasonable and have built up a good network which is important to get parts for rare watches. They are really nice guys as well. read more

I had a Seiko I thought was going to need a new mechanism and these guys were happy to help ..somehow they got it working on the spot. Father and son both seem more interested in helping people than getting rich! I highly recommend them read more

Once again this amazing store refused to charge me for what was a quick fix to my cuckoo clock on their part, but as far as I would know, this could have taken them hours and they could have charged me for it! I ended up buying some cleaning cloths because I could not let them do this without buying something! Thank you to The Watch Pocket for representing the best of retail. read more

Just had a very positive and rewarding experience at the Watch Pocket. Was in need of a battery for a couple of "dinosaur" watches and Matthew had the batteries in stock, replaced them and all is good. Very pleasant store and would highly recommend for replacing watch batteries (even if your watch is not at least 25 years old). I have at least one of other older battery watch (at least 35 years old) that I will take there in the near future. read more

Totally ruined. I had saved my father's watch for over 20 years after he died for just one reason--- to give it to my brother on his wedding day. I brought the watch in to have it fixed because it had been over-wound. The cost was a little over a hundred dollars. The problem is that unbeknownst to me and without my permission they replaced the original wrist band. Since I was out of town my mother picked up the watch; if I had been there I would have noticed immediately and demanded it be changed back. Unfortunately, it was not until just before the wedding that I saw the "fixed" watch. Instead of the wonderful, worn, family heirloom, my brother got a shiny generic watch. I will NEVER return to that store and I strongly recommend that a customer think twice before trusting them with anything of sentimental value. read more

Walked in for a battery replacement for my watch and a new leather band. The owner did not address me directly once because he was chatting with a friend. Perhaps because I am a woman? When it came time to select a watch band (pricy one), he did not hear me at all and forced one that was too small on me, insisting it was fine. I know, I am an adult and I could have walked away, but come on! This is an old shop and one goes in with a lot of trust.... Never been back. read more

As a watch collector for 20 yrs, I have found Matt & Gene to be incredibly knowledgeable, very understanding of someone who likes everything running within seconds and reasonably priced for repairs & new/ or old watch purchases. They go beyond the extra mile to obtain parts for vintage watches and have the expertise to repair even very, very complex watches ! read more

I went out for errands with a bag full of broken items - 2 clocks, a watch, and two necklaces with more sentimental value than monetary value. The owner - the son of the founder - went over each item and told me the value and compared that with how much it would cost to fix each. We decided one clock was cheaper to replace, but I left all the other items. They were fixed quickly, and for the price he quoted. This was over a year ago, and they are all going strong. All the items have already lasted longer than when they were new and broke. I'd be happy to go back again, but he did such a good job I may never have to. I love this little shop. read more

I've been to The Watch Pocket twice now, once for a battery replacement and once for a new wristband. The owners of this shop are fantastic! They are very nice, very helpful, and very honest. Gave me advice on how to fix or care for my watches for free even when they were unable to assist. Also, watching their expertly deft hands replace batteries, change bands, and repair watches is an incredible sight to see. Watchmaking is sadly and truly an art form that I fear is dying. Even though it's out of my way, I always go to The Watch Pocket when I need a battery, a band, or a repair. read more

Great experience at the Watch Pocket. I brought two watches to the shop, one that needed its battery changed, the other had an ominous rattle. I arrived shortly after the shop opened, and the store owner saw me immediately. He efficiently and carefully changed out the battery on the first watch, and tended to the other (turned out it just needed the loose battery replaced). He also advised me on future watch purchases and recommended his favored brands. The charge was for two battery replacements, $20 in total. He seems to run a very efficient store, and I will definitely be a return customer. read more

My biggest mistake was to go to this local shop to get a clock repaired-- hoping to support a longtime Silver Spring business. I took a small clock, which was a graduate school award, to have the clock insert replaced. After 3 weeks, I picked up the "repaired" clock. There was no back cover over the mechanism. I was told, "No one's going to look at the back." I asked for an educator's discount after being given the ridiculous price of $65. Get this: "Frankly, $65 IS your educator's discount. If I had know it was going to be this much trouble..." The trouble was getting a clock insert and glueing a ring of cardboard around the inside of the frame to secure the clock insert-- which was NOT secure and easily removable as I walked to my car. There were also glue stains around the face of the clock in front. Someone IS going to see the front. What an insult to customers, academicians and educators. I will never return and will recommend that others turn around before entering this establishment. I hear there is a wonderful clock repair shop in Kensington. I bet they care more about customers and clocks than The Watch Pocket. read more

I stopped here based on other yelp reviews and so glad I did. The battery was replaced in four minutes. my questions about the watch were answered. Nice shop, nice owners. Highly recommend this locally owned and operated business. Do yourself a favor and support these folks. Oh, there's also a Yelp coupon for five dollars iff a battery replacement. read more

Very quick watch battery replacement. Efficient, inexpensive, and professional!

They replaced several batteries for me and did a good fast job that was very inexpensive. The employees are very nice and helpful.

Took my 3 watches here for various repairs and adjustments. Received fast, high quality service at fair prices to boot! Much better than kiosks at the mall. Will be back! read more

I brought 3 watches in to Watch Pocket, including a watch I bought from a small craftsman at an art show in Atlanta several years ago. I was immediately able to get my watches serviced and the owner took the time to puzzle through a unique watch in less than 3 minutes. Me other batteries were replaced in even less time. Nice selection of watches for sale too, as well as a few other jewelry items. If I have any other needs for my watches, I'll be back! read more

I've been going to The Watch Pocket for almost 30 years. The owners have always been the nicest and most accommodating of people. They are exceptionally knowledgable, and honest to a fault. I would never go anywhere else. My mother lives in Baltimore but I bring my mother's and my mother's friend's pieces to The Watch Pocket. The Watch Pocket is one of the last opportunities to see a small piece of life before the computer technology age...on so many levels. read more

I sent my daughter here thinking that this was a great little place. She had a Timex watch that needed a few links taken out of the stretch band. She was told that that was not possible to do and that they were one-size-fit-all disposable watch bands. Then she was encouraged to buy a new watch band. I told her that I would take it to the place I know in Kensington where they did the work immediately while I waited. Very disappointing, and a good recommendation for going to the place in Kensington! read more

I went to The Watch Pocket today to get batteries replaced in some of my watches. Prompt and courteous service!

Excellent service repairing my Grandfather clock at a fair price. I recommend them highly. A rare find in this day and age.

I went there to get a new battery on my Sean John bracelet silver tone quartz watch because the other place I went to get had one that was used for only 2 weeks. Now, this battery I have in my watch now from the Watch Pocket is still useless. Whenever time stops after a minute or couple hours, I tried to tap the watch hardly so that it is still active. Yet, the battery that the watch repair man gave me is still active, but with unknown flaws inside the mechanism. I recommend to never come back at all. They do a good job with replacing the used battery with a new one, but I feel like this watch or the store I went recently is the pits. I feel like getting a new battery or get myself a real man's watch at all. WORST EXPERIENCE EVER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! read more

I couldn't be happier with the quick and friendly service here. I have a Skagen watch, which apparently are notorious for being harder to access the battery, and my particular model had an unusual design that made it even more difficult. I took it here, and in less than ten minutes they carefully had it apart, replaced the battery, popped it back together, and gave it a quick polish... all for just $10! (I've been to other places that charge upwards of $15-$25 for this otherwise simple service.) I later went back with another watch whose seemingly simple battery replacement (that I did myself) left me with a back that I just couldn't snap back on, and they gave me the same courteous experience as before. With such a great price and service, I won't be fooling with this stuff myself anymore. I'm so happy to have found this place and will be returning for future needs with all my contemporary and antique watches. Thanks so much! read more
