Really incredible customer service from Rahul, he couldn't be a nicer guy but I also felt his professional advice was candid and he wasn't trying to sell me anything I didn't need, or an end product I wouldn't be happy with. I bought a 5-diamond wedding band online and took it to Atlantic Gems for resizing. He wound up advising me to remove one stone to better fit the style to my small hands and also did the resizing. Since my family jeweler closed his shop and retired, I have been on the hunt for a suitable replacement. I hate retail jewelry stores with their inferior products and shoddy work. I wanted someone who would remember my name, who had the creative vision to craft unique pieces if I requested them, and who would help make sure my jewelry would last me for many years to come, not just try to push new inventory on me. I'm so glad I found Rahul and his shop. I brought in a couple of pieces for a quote. I had a sterling silver and larimar ring that needed to be adjusted, a silver and opal ring that also needed repair, a white gold and diamond ring that was missing a stone, a pink sapphire and diamond ring that my previous jeweler made for me which needed repair, as well as one of my grandmother's wedding rings which also needed to be repaired. Rahul offered suggestions for each piece (including the recommendation that I not get my opal ring repaired since the opals were synthetic and would cost more to cut/replace than the ring was worth) and did not pressure me to make any decisions. He gave me plenty of time to decide what was best for me. I trusted his judgment and decided to go with most of the restorative recommendations he provided. When he returned my jewelry I was absolutely thrilled! My rings looked better than they did when I first purchased them. And my grandmother's ring... my goodness. He restored it to a brilliance that it probably hasn't had since her wedding day (long before I was born) She's been gone for over 20 years now and having that little piece of her means so much to me. What a great little store! This is a small, family-owned jeweler/bead store. Don't let the size fool you--they have a wide selection of semi-precious and precious gemstones, both beads and unset stones. They also have the BEST selection of Swarovski you will find in the area, and offer a Swarovski loyalty card, which I'm certain I will fill quickly. They also do custom jewelry work and jewelry repair. The family is very nice and customer oriented. They have become my new "go to" source for jewelry making as they also carry professional jewelry tools. Beading. For some it's a hobby, for some a business, for some an obsession. The folks who own and run Atlantic Gems certainly love what they do. It might be an obsession, I'll leave that as an exercise to the reader. The wife loves this stuff. I go along for the ride. Their hours are a bit odd - they close at 1pm on Saturday...ostensibly to handle inventory and fulfill the huge number of online orders they get. The guy who runs the place knows his stuff, and was exceptional at keeping tabs on all of his customers at almost the same time, which is important since a lot of the product is in glass cases and needs to be pulled out as requested. It's a family owned business, and everyone helps out. The selection, while it is deep in some areas, is shallow in others. The store is somewhat small, and space considerations probably dictate space allocation more than individual choice. This isn't a place to go for tools, but for crystal beads (swarovski), this place is a gold mine. As mentioned in the other bead review, people spend a looooot of money here, and amazingly quickly. Silver is weighed by the gram, and lo and behold, at 1KG, it gets a little cheaper (but not much). 1KG of silver is a lot when you are working with beads. Or at least it should be. Really, though, when it's on the scale, it looks like it should be so much more. Parking sucks. Use the parking garage a block away to avoid getting towed. It's right across from the post office. I think it's a family owned business and the place isn't like a typical jewelry store. They don't have a major store front and the only way to tell you're at the right place is a sign on the front door. The guy was very knowledgeable and walked me through what to look for. I'm going to be using him to get our wedding bands as well. The store is narrow and has a lot of beads. Bead hobbyists would love the place. I came here per Yelp recommendations to have a diamond ring repaired after I lost a stone in the band. I received immediate and friendly attention upon entering the store, clear communication about what work would be done on the ring in a timely manner, and a chance to approve the work before it started to make sure I was okay with the price, which was very reasonable. Rahul not only replaced the missing stone (and matched it so well I can't tell which one is new!) but also identified several other prongs in need of retipping (not surprising given the ring was more than 30 years old). He also moved one of the diamonds over to improve the overall aesthetic and reshaped the ring for no charge. The ring took about 1 week to be repaired, just as I was promised.
