The bar itself is a fantastic mix of locals, fishermen, and students from the nearby school. I found it to be mostly locals during my time there and absolutely loved it. I met so many interesting people playing pool and darts or just hanging out talking. Some of my favorite nights were when a fishing boat would come in and the fishermen would use their newly earned money to ring the bell in the bar. I have visited Juneau for business on 4 occasions my first stop is always the Narrows. So far they are the only establishment in town with an impressive gin collection. If you want a craft cocktail or you are not sure what you want the bartenders will gladly make you something special that they love or think you will like. The Narrow's is a must visit when in downtown Juneau.

I'm in Juneau, Alaska on a long-term work assignment, and due to the limited restaurant options, I've ended up eating at The Hangar on the Wharf several weeks in a row. Every single time, they tack on a 3-5% "convenience" or "service" fee to the bill -- even when sitting at the bar with average service at best. I've asked ownership multiple times to remove these outdated junk fees and simply price the menu honestly instead of sneaking extra charges onto the check. Many states are now passing laws to prohibit businesses from randomly adding surprise fees to customer bills because consumers are tired of deceptive pricing practices. All this does is hurt employees' tip opportunities and frustrate customers. The food and service simply are not good enough to justify hidden surcharges on top of already high prices. Transparent pricing matters.
