I think they could put some more filling on in some cases though. You pay a little bit extra if you want to eat in which is normal nowadays to be honest. The lady that served me was very friendly and struck up a conversation while she made our order. Considering she was new she was very calm whereas some of the other staff members looked a little bit stressed out. I wouldn't blame them it does not look easy. There is only one other place that I know of selling crepes in Birmingham and it's a bit of a walk so it's nice to have somewhere I can indulge on my love affair with crepes.

It took at little bit of time to receive my order, but it was beautifully made, served at a suitable temperature (when I've eaten them at other places before they've often been too hot to eat) and was a lovely option for lunch. My friends had the ham and cheese option and a strawberries and cream option, and they were equally as lovely! I'm certainly looking forward to revisiting!

I really, really wanted to love Dolce Lounge. After being recommended I visit by a business…read morecontact, I had a quick look online to get some information. I discovered that the Cafe is a Independent venue set up by two Aston University Graduates to try and encourage more of a "Cafe Culture" in Birmingham. They have obviously put in a lot of work and hard graft to get it started, but it's just not there... yet. The little venue is based at the top of Corporation Street (passed the Law courts). It looks reasonably appealing from the outside (although the neon words listing it's wares does seem to cheapen the exterior), but I don't think it would drag you in unless you knew what was being offered. The first thing that caught me was the selection of Gelato. So many different flavors are on offer here, from Bubble Gum to Cheesecake your more traditional Chocolate flavored treat. The cakes also looked amazing! Beautiful, delicate and definitely sinful! As I am trying to eat healthy at the moment, I managed to avoid these temptations and just ordered a Red Berry tea (I tried for Peppermint, but they were out). I asked if I could sit around for a bit and do some work and was told I could sit downstairs (there are small tables designed for two) or upstairs where there is more room. I plumped for upstairs. The cafe has a lovely print of venice as wallpaper on the upstairs (obviously, again to put you in mind of the cafe culture). When I went up there, there were three other groups of people. Two of them were studying and one group was just... hanging out and having a chat. It all seemed quite nice... until someone decided that everyone needed to listen to rap... quite loudly. Now, I am not a fan of rap music at the best of times, but listening to a man shout at me whilst I'm trying to enjoy a nice cup of tea and get on with some work is not ideal. It was eventually turned down a touch, but the music seemed at odds with the relaxed, classy vibe the cafe was trying to create. That all being considered, I would pop back and give it another go. The cake and gelato are too much of a draw not to try this venue again. I only paid around £1.75/£1.85 for my cup of tea, so the prices seem about right. I didn't ask the prices of the desserts, but I will update next time...

I decided I would go for the peanut brownie milkshake and the Dolce Royale Sundae. Both came in a standard size glass you would get a large take away milkshake in and were well made and super sweet and exactly as advertised. The only downside to this place is the wait time for the order to arrive...... it took around 1h15 to get to my door. If you have a sweet craving you better order from here as soon as you realize.....otherwise by the time this place delivers you may have already manned up and made the trip to the shop to stock up on five family bags of m&ms!

Just a short walk from the train station, Eis Cafe is very conveniently located as well. I ordered the skillet cookie with ice cream and whipped cream. Wow! So good and so rich. The cookie was ooey gooey chocolate chip perfection, baked to order in a cast iron skillet. I chose the marshmallow ice cream, which tasted like frozen clouds and it was all topped with a toasted marshmallow. Other reviews have commented on the price, but I think the price is very fair for the portion size. Even though I had intentions to finish the cookie by myself, it just wasn't happening - I had to share y'all. To complement my cookie, I ordered a spiced Arabic tea. Absolutely divine. The loose leaf teas are blended for aromatic and flavor balance and steeped to order. The spice tea is garnished with fresh spices and mint leaves and lightly sweetened with honey. It was everything I ever want in a good tea. No expense was spared in decorating Eis Cafe. Think Pinterest dreams come true. Even the ceiling tiles are cute. The tables are cosy and perfect for a cute date night or afternoon sweet tooth. Love this place.

But no, while patrons of Heavenly Desserts may be dressed to the nines, this dessert bar necessitates elastic trousers more than a "go out shirt". Heavenly Desserts was one of the originators of the type of dessert bar that has popped up all over Birmingham in recent years. Starting out in a smaller shop front, they now take up a very large location in Sparkbrook that can seat many. Despite this, the place is packed with queues on the weekend. The wait is managed very professionally by an army of staff members. Once you make it to your seat, a literal bible of sweet goodies awaits. The shop is most known for their outrageous waffles and cookie dough, but it's entirely possible to pop in for some gelato and a coffee. This is exactly what I did while visiting with friends recently, as the cookie dough was tempting but I wanted something smaller. The gelato can be purchased on its own, but it's also a key ingredient in their other dessert dishes. I was hoping for the best based on reviews, but my cookies and creme/chocolate combo was average at best. Given the amount of competition in Brum, the gelato was not up to par with a generic flavour present. The Americano I ordered as my drink was substantial in size, but lacked finesse in its pull, with a bitter, acidic quality. The overall service here is spot on, with our waiter checking on us throughout our visit. Paying was a hassle though, as we had to walk to the back end of the shop and pay at a card kiosk. Speaking of, the prices here are at the upper limit of what you can realistically charge, especially since it's not in city centre. Heavenly Desserts is a nice dessert shop for the most part, but if you are looking for high quality ingredients or a low-mid price point, south Brum has many more options for you.

It's a…read moregreat spot to grab dinner before a film, although it seemed like it was the only restaurant close to the theatre. In fact, that is the only reason we ate here. We were seated quickly on a Wednesday evening. The restaurant didn't appear to be very busy. It took nearly 10 mins for a server to come over and take our drink order. In his defense, I think he was the only server on. I ordered a bramble which was seriously mostly ice. Highly disappointing. It was a happy hour special though So I forgave them. The second drink I ordered was a martini and tasted very weak. I'm not sure if they were watered down due to the price or if all drinks are just plain weak. As far as food, we ordered some garlic dough balls which came with a wonderful jalapeño cheese sauce. I liked the sauce so much that I ordered a meal with it. The potato skins were pretty good. There was one favour with pulled pork that was well worth the calories! As for a main, I had a baked wrap with chicken, lettuce, tomato, cheese sauce and bbq sauce. Also came with a strange salad and a sad serving of coleslaw. What bothered me here was the wrap was baked with the veggies. So the lettuce and tomatoes were boiling hot and soggy. Maybe I'm being too picky, but it kinda ruined it for me. And the fact that our dinner sat under the heat lamps for a bit because our poor server was running his butt off. Not sure why the two managers doing nothing did not deliver our food.... The dessert menu looked amazing so I was hoping it would make up for the underwhelming meal. I ordered a cinnamon crunch waffle that as you'll see from the photo was mouth watering. However, it looked better than it tasted. The ice cream had frozen ice chunks in it from being thawed and re frozen. And the waffle didn't taste fresh. My partner's dessert was a chocolate brownie sundae and he thoroughly enjoyed it. Our server was named Don or Dom. He was lovely and friendly. Very good server. Despite all the disappointment, I would try again. All the 50s rock and roll reminded me of home (although our italian restaurants do not play any music remotely close to that). The menu is large enough that I'm sure I could find something that works.
