Bonjour, hi! We came by during a cutesy Sunday for a casual drink during HAPPY HOUR. Overall, one word: disappointed. Disappointedly, the vibe was quite boring honestly. Hoped for some nice music or maybe a cute fire place, but instead it was mostly quiet with pretty uncomfortable chairs. Service was disappointing. The server was 18 years old with no wine experience to share about the wines that they served. Lastly, and most sadly, the cocktail selection lacked creativity, only really having the staples (manhattan, margarita - not even flavored I might add, paper plane, etc), with no real vision for creativity by the consumer. I was also pretty disappointed with their white wine selection. Seems that they have a rotating wine menu with a very limited variety. When I went, there were only chardonnays, a sauvignon blanc, a Prosecco, and a rosé. Variety was really lacking for a wine bar. My go to spot for happy hour in downtown Danville! When with my friend for happy hour while both of our kids were volunteering at a school close by. We decided to stop in to enjoy a drink and eat a bit, awaiting their call. They have a good drink selection overall and good options on their happy hour menu. I enjoyed some Rose and a French 75 that was a bit different than the usual, the color of the drink was purple. It was strong and tasty, which is the best drink combo isn't it?!? I also like their happy hour food options; my friend and I shared a margarita flatbread, brussel sprouts and the chicken tacos which was the only one that I could do without, honestly. Great place to chill and to catch up with a friend over drinks and to enjoy some food. Service was good, our server who also a gentleman that was also working at the bar was frowns personable and friendly. My friend and I wanted a place to sit for a drink and snack, and we had never been to The Vine but heard good things about it, so we went. It is located at the end of the busier strip in downtown Danville, which is a little quieter. The outdoor patio is great for larger parties or for people who enjoy the fresh air. It had a nice lounge-y vibe. Overall our experience was good. The patio "booth" seats were comfy, and the cocktails were tasty and not watered down. We ordered the Korean fried chicken, which looked more like a saucy fancy chicken nuggets and was tasty. We later ordered a charcuterie board, which was bigger than we expected. The only snafu that occurred was they gave us the wrong drink at one point, and when we pointed it out, the server took it back but still CHARGED US FOR IT. Unfortunately we didn't discover this til after returning home. They did get us the correct drink after a short wait, but they should have known to take the drink off the tab. The prices were a little steep, but maybe not for Danville. As long as the service keeps up, I think The Vine is a solid place to visit for drinks and food. read more

The reviews mentioning "horrible service" are in fact accurate. We stopped bothering to go to the Vine three years ago or so when we had one too many bad customer service experiences. Recently, friends invited us to join them when they stopped at the Vine on a whim... and mid one glass of wine in, we were told it was last call (over an hour before closing time). We all ordered another round only to be rushed to drink them and leave as the staff stared at us from the sidelines, obviously wanting to close early and go home. From a business perspective, it's a bad move to leave money on the table like that. From a customer service perspective, it was just plain rude. Friends invited us again to join them- I got nervous of what was impending when I saw how unhappy fellow patrons around us were. I noticed people getting up from their table to talk to the waiter, pointing back at their table. Looking around us, many people had empty glasses. Not a good sign at a business based on selling drinks. The waiter came over eventually, took our drink order.... It took its sweet time to come out, BUT it did come out.... .... And then we sat for over an hour without any form of service. Honestly, I just wanted a glass of water and a freaking snack. After a ridiculous amount of time, the manager came by and asked what we wanted next. My husband is a blunt man, and straight up said to the manager "I am so sorry, I do not mean to offend you or be a jerk, but is it going to take another hour for someone to come back to our table? Because we want to enjoy our night, so I'm totally ok closing out and going elsewhere if you guys are too swamped. I just want my drink to come out in a reasonable time if we stay". The manager apologized for the delay explaining they got busy, but she'll take care of us, don't worry, it won't be a long wait again, she'll personally make sure of it. My husband even reiterated "it's not a big deal if we need to go elsewhere, I just want an honest picture of what the future holds". She assured us that service would be better, so we all ordered. We sat for over 35 minutes, no drinks at our table and no employees in sight, before my husband had enough and walked into the bar... Where he saw our drinks sitting on a tray, sweating, the ice of his cocktail had even melted. Our waiter and the manager hanging out behind the bar, talking with the bartender. We know customer service very well, and are incredibly patient especially when a business is short staffed. I will patiently wait for as long as it takes when I see a business is hustling. However, this was not poor service due to being short staffed, overwhelmed, etc. This was poor service from bad employees and bad management. We all swore to never come back. Came here to check out the live music on Friday night, which was awesome. Some easy listening music and sipping on some wine was just great. We got sat towards the front corner on the sidewalk and maybe this had an effect, but our service was subpar at best. Young boy server took our wine order and we waited. And waited. And waited, until we could wait no more. He came back and asked us how we were doing. He clearly forgot that he had already taken our order, which wasn't surprising given that he hadn't written anything down. Then we waited some more. I ended up going to the bar and a nice lady asked if I needed help. I explained our plight and she didn't seem surprised. I guess the dude was new. The dude and I came here for an early date happy hour in Danville on July 3, 2021. I believe happy hour was from 4 to 6 pm and we arrived about 5pm on the dot. We were greeted by the hostess and seated immediately however we didn't get approached for service until 5:35ish and felt like they were trying to drag out happy hour. Who knows. We weren't happy about the wait but we already knew what we wanted. I ended up getting the spiked Lemonade 9/10 and the dude (forgot his drinks but mine also) was delicious. Only $6 each and we got the Margarita pizza / flatbread which was so delicious for $6!!! It was nothing fancy but can't beat for the price at all!! I absolutely loved the cocktails here. And their happy hour is seriously the best. We were impressed with the quality of drinks and food. The staff was very friendly but just took forever to with everything. By the time we got our food and drinks happy hour was done and couldn't order another drink with the happy hour special which was a bummer. Totally willing to give this place a 5 star review but the wait to order was ridiculous. Will we come back? Definitely in a heart beat but hoping service is faster than what we received. It appears that the time we came that it was only outdoor seating which was nice. It wasn't too hot (was we were in the shade) and it was perfect sipping on the cocktails observing Danville at its Finest. I adore the scenery here, very relaxing and good music too! The dude and I overall, enjoyed ourselves here and so glad we had the opportunity to try this establishment out. Phew, we made it to happy hour. I'm so glad that happy hour doesn't end at 5pm because then I'd still be at work. From the happy hour menu, we ordered two nibblers and two drinks. Beef Short Rib Street Tacos with cilantro slaw and lime. The beef was very tender and dressed well with lime juice. These tasted better than they looked. They look like normal tacos, but then you take a bite and you taste the tender beef short ribs and it's the lovely experience. Warm Brie with Seasonal Fruit Compote, brandied pecans, coppa, and fresh herbs. I was worried that this dish would be too big but they were small slices of cheese with several toasted slivers of bread. The brandied part of the pecans was so very difficult to notice that we didn't notice it at all. Spiked Lemonade with lemon infused vodka, mint, house simple syrup, and soda. If you like sour lemonade, then I totally recommend this spiked lemonade cocktail. I pretty much love lemon anything. My date loves lemonade but not when it's too sour so this was not his favorite drink but it was mine! Moscow Mule with vodka, ginger beer and lime served in a chilled copper mug. This drink is pretty much what you would expect from a Moscow mule. Nothing special, it is just a good normal cocktail. What we didn't try were the burgers or the salmon which was recommended to us and it sounded really tasty we just weren't that hungry today. We are almost on that sweet spot where we have breezy but pleasantly warm evenings. The country back in business, the towns have got their hustle bustle back too! We strolled our way in randomly picked the vine and spirits due to the spot next to lively street and heater! It was indeed a good decision. We chose to sample local Syrah and French Sauvignon and really liked it. We had warm Brie with honeyed apples, flatbread with vinaigrette , baby arugula and coppa. Our host was pleasantly courteous to order one more without coppa! They also made sure we were warm even after hours while we sat couple hours enjoying the wine. Review is for takeout via Doordash during COVID19 SIP: The current SIP orders in the Bay Area make dining out impossible, while having a newborn at home makes cooking and washing dishes less practical. Imagine waking up every 3 hrs to feed a baby! For times like these, Doordash is wonderful despite added delivery fees, driver tips, and limited restaurant options. Vine and Spirits was recently added to Doordash. I've never been to the physical location in Downtown Danville. Their menu intrigued me since it reminds me of food you might find in an upscale gastropub like nearby Revel. Herb Crusted Salmon was a great dish: meaty, perfectly seasoned, and sporting a nice crispy crust. I was a big fan of the veggie side dishes of black olives, cherry tomatoes, spinach, and roasted potatoes. The veggies added nice color, acidity, and balance to the dish. Well worth the $22 entree price. Crispy Cauliflower is a bit of a misnomer, since its more soft than crispy by the time the food arrives. I'm a big fan, since the flavors reminded me of Indian cuisine with the use of raisins, curry, and toasted pepitas for crunch. It was way less mushy than the Aloo Gobi from Cafe Tandoor I had the other day. Fried Sweet Potatoes were these long and thick french-fries that also turned slightly soggy rather than crispy from the delivery time. The flavors were still good - a bit of sweet-on-sweet with maple soy glaze, feta, and pecans added to spiff up the dish. Overall, one of my pricier Doordash dinner orders, though very satisfying and good. 4 stars. read more

I usually like this place and have brought many large groups for happy hour on the patio. Yesterday we left not wanting to ever come back because of the poor service. We're usually not too picky, and very good tippers, but it was so bad we thought they were ignoring us on purpose. I'm a fan of the Vine! The Vine at Bridges, not to be confused with Bridges Restaurant, is a cute little wine bar and tasting room that's nestled in downtown Danville. It was my first time going to both Bridges and the Vine, but I actually got confused and ended up going to the Vine on accident. I got there a little early, so I decided to sit at the bar while I waited on my friend to arrive. The inside is very attractive! The décor is very modern with a mellow color scheme, beautiful artwork, and unique lighting. There are a couple of spots where you can cozy up on their sofas. This place definitely has date night vibes written all over it! They have some great daily specials throughout the week and a daily happy hour from 4-7! Yes, you heard me correct; their happy hour is DAILY, Boo! Happy Hour is practically my first name, so you know I was all over it! They have a nice little wine list and they also offer a few different wine flights as well as dinner and light appetizers. Since I made it in time for happy hour, I ordered their seasonal pizzetta and a glass of their 2015 Alias Pinot Noir. The pizzetta was scrumptious! At first glance, it didn't look the most appealing. But after trying a slice, I was instantly sold! The seasonal pizzetta is a flatbread that's topped with soppressata, pear, manchego, bacon accented arugula, and house potatoes. Not really sure what some of those toppings really are, but all you need to know was that it was GOOD! The culmination of flavors went together perfectly and the arugula added an immense amount of freshness to everything. For house wine, the Pinot Noir was actually pretty good, and the bartender really hooked it up with the pour! The Vine is also a wine shop and they conduct tastings on the other side of the room. The tasting room was packed the night that I went in! The tasting room is open until 7pm! Great hours for those who can't usually make the standard 9-5 window. I wish I could have spent a lot more time here than I did, but I realized that I had actually went to the wrong spot to meetup with my friend who has been waiting at the Bridges Restaurant just across the street! Yikes! But honestly, I'm happy that it ended this way because I wouldn't haven't discovered this little gem. After reading a few Yelp reviews, i was expecting to wait 20 minutes or more for our food and drinks. However, I was pleasantly surprised at the excellent service. Our waitress took our order and in about 5 minutes, we received our drinks. I loved the spiked lemonade. We arrived on a Saturday at about 5:00 pm and it was about 90 degrees and we sat outside under the canopy. Happy hour is until 6:00 pm. We ordered a few items from the happy hour menu, and the shrimp lettuce wraps from the regular menu. Food was good. Nothing special about the pizza and tacos. The fried rice balls could use more sausage, it only had a tiny bit of minced pieces of sausage. This is another great place to stop while riding (or walking) on the Iron Horse Trail in Danville. They have a great location with a beautiful outdoor patio and tables along the front of the restaurant. It is a restaurant with a full bar as well as a place where you can purchase wine. We typically stop in while riding bikes through Danville- a perfect stop on a nice warm day. They have a great Happy Hour which is currently Monday through Saturday 4-6pm, Monday through Wednesday 9-Close and all day Sunday. We have always had very attentive and friendly servers. We were looking for a good burger and we found it! The food was great! Fries a golden yellow, perfectly cooked and balanced between crunchy and soft. A little heavy handed with salt. The burger to bun ratio was well balanced and the high quality beef was flavorful and cooked to perfection! The service on the other hand was lack luster... when we sat down we didn't get menus, silverware or even water offered up. Sitting for at least 10 minutes with no wait staff seems unreasonable and I had to get up to ask for menus and water. Our waiter finally came and he was great- took our order and we got water and silverware. Drinks were great too; Danville craft beer and a cocktail- delish! Food came, but I asked for mustard twice by 2 different servers, which never arrived. It's the attention to customer service I was looking for; also our water glasses were also empty and I sure could have used more with the overly salted fries. We waited over 20 minutes from sitting down and the waiters actively ignored us while serving and checking on every other table multiple times. Usually I give the benefit of the doubt but they weren't that busy and it was really strange asking for help and watching the waiters pretend to not hear us. Even the other table was weirded out that no one was serving us. We ended up leaving without getting served, it was upsetting and I don't see us ever coming back. Although we ate at Bridges restaurant tens of scores of times during the years we lived in Danville, this gem of an associated wine bar and bottle shop was not yet in business when we moved away. Too bad for us because based on our first visit during a recent stay in Danville, we'd have been regular customers. BOTTOM LINE: Literally hundreds of bottles of wine for sale in the bottle shop, a creative and continually changing wine list for by the glass options in the wine bar, decent prices, happy hour specials, friendly and knowledgeable service and just funky enough "all people are welcome" interior. The Vine is on our "go to" recommendation list for wine lovers visiting Danville. WHAT'S NOT TO LIKE?: Well, maybe that their food menu is a more limited than one might expect with parent restaurant Bridges about a stone's throw away. Now that we have the menu at fantastic wine bar Vino Vino in Austin (yes, Texas - seriously http://www.yelp.com/biz/vino-vino-austin#hrid:vlC2nv9tTU_ANqkJ9yTQsw/src:self ) as model in that, it is the standard by which we measure others. But that's not enough of a "ding" to deduct a star, so five stars it is! Arranged as options to create your own flight or packaged in creative recommended flights or to order alone. Three ounce pours ranged from $5 - $6 and six ounce pours from $10 - $15. For the quality of the wine, ambiance and service, we thought this was a pretty reasonable deal. Given this is Danville, after all, and things are spendy in this neck of the woods. SERVICE: Striking the perfect balance of friendly and efficient to match the setting, the server could answer our questions and make recommendations. I imagine a wine novice and a connoisseur would feel equally welcome and at home here with this kind of service. We fall in the middle of that spectrum and we felt very comfortable. To round out the good service, the wine was served in good quality stemware and at the right temperatures. WHAT WE TRIED: I tried two whites that were new to me. * NV sparkling Vouvray by Domaine Vigneau (sp? - France?) * 2010 relase of an Italian varietal, Pecorino Offida, from Marche, Italy The former would be on my bottle purchase list next time. The latter was a good chance for me to know that varietal isn't my thing. We were there on a Wednesday, which is a "create your own flight" day and my husband took advantage of that to put together what he called "around the state" of California wines. *An Albarino (Lodi) from Odesia * A Pinot Noir (Santa Lucia) from Sandler * A Rhone Blend (Santa Barbara) from Sans Liege. He said he'd drink them all again. HAPPY HOUR: Monday through Friday, 5p - 7p there are some specials offered. On Wednesday you can create your own flight of any three wines on their tasting menu for $15.00. ACCESSIBILITY: Level in. All on one floor. And here's a big "woohoo" for those of us who have trouble boosting ourselves into the high perch stools at bar height tables and for whom "falling off a bar stool" has special meaning: The Vine has an adequate amount of seating at standard height tables on banquette bench seating too. PS: 1) If you can't find what you're looking for by the bottle here, you might toodle out to Blackhawk Plaza and take a look at the wine selection at Drager's market there. An impressive selection of wine and one of the best collections of Italian wines we've seen in any retailer in the area. 2) Given the limited menu, we skipped the eats at The Vine and walked across the street to Il Contro for dinner. Wow, what a disappointment.... Interior just isn't as cozy and welcoming as it once was. Dark, dingy and seeing the kitchen from dining are clearly wasn't part of the design. It all looks very modge podge . We ordered the honey Brie hardly any honey, walnuts tasted stale and when we asked for more of the crackers they offered two. The live music was "ehh" at best. Came here on a Thursday night and it wasn't too busy. The tables were reasonably spaced for social distancing purposes so I never felt too close to other people. I just wish they had umbrellas for the outdoor area to make the experience more pleasant. Most of us at my table were very hot sitting in the sun! We put up with it, but it was hard to focus on anything else. Besides that, the food was great! They have a small menu with a good number of tasty items to pick from. We are looking for a venue for our daughter's engagement party and wanted to try out some of the food before booking anything so we invited another couple to join us and sampled several of the dishes on the menu. We started out with their house made potato chips (incredibly light and crispy with a yummy seasoning) and blistered shishito peppers, which we all loved! The peppers were not something that I would normally order, but boy am I glad we did! They are creamy, salty & slightly sweet with just a hint of heat...so good! For the next round, we tried the sweet gems lettuce salad, the mixed heirloom beets salad & the butternut squash bruschetta. All were very tasty. The bruschetta looked a little plain, but had great flavor! We then proceeded to order the spicy marinara meatballs, the Korean fried chicken, the harissa Roasted Mexican white prawns, the seared Atlantic salmon & the grilled filet tips. Everything was outstanding! For dessert, we shared the Apple crisp and chocolate soufflé cake. My husband's only complaint was that they did not have vanilla ice cream to serve alongside of these. Both selections were delicious though. We were also impressed with their selection of wines and craft cocktails and the service was top-notch as well. I've always been under the impression that The Vine was just a place to grab a glass of wine or a cocktail and listen to live music, but I was so pleasantly surprised by their dinner options! We will definitely return and are now planning on hosting our daughter's engagement party there! read more

We love this local wine bar! Just wish they would carry some of our local wines from Livermore, especially from Cuda Ridge; their Cab Franc is to die for and would be such a good match for the porcini mushroom ravioli. read more

I love this place. Living in the city, it's a nice reprieve. Relaxing, high service, and a great selection! Their happy hour can't be beat. Love the 2 for $12 3oz pours. I went here for a happy hour a week ago. Prices and selection were very good as were service and location. We had the charcuterie board which is one of the happy hour selections they don't discount but it was very nice, it had great selections of cheese and meats and we had the pizza which is discounted for happy hour and was also very good.
