Go no further for the best breakfast in Bonner County! We finally stopped in at this little roadside cafe after driving by it so many times and were not disappointed. It is clean, homey, and overlooks Cocolalla Lake. The menu offers several choices and I decided on the "half order"--perfectly cooked scrambled eggs, hash browns done just right, 2 thick slices of bacon, and instead of toast, opted for a huckleberry pancake which was amazing! So glad I got just the half order because it was plenty, and delicious! My husband had eggs and biscuits smothered in velvety, cream gravy. The portion was enormous, but so good he ate it all. The biscuits were the best I've tasted up here, light and tender. Our server was friendly and attentive. The view was lovely looking out and seeing the colorful fall trees on the hillside. Everything about this place was delightful. We would've loved to stay longer and linger over coffee and that beautiful view, but guests were waiting to be seated. We look forward to coming again and giving the lunch menu a try. read more

Great delicious food, friendly service. Only one waitress as it wasn't super busy, but it was perfect to enjoy a relaxing dinner with my grandfather. I had the Woods Meats burger which was absolutely fantastic. I paired it with the Parmesan garlic curly fries which are homemade and delicious! To complement my dinner I added the local huckleberry wheat beer, which I highly recommend. And as the name suggests, there's a lovely view of the lake to enjoy while you have dinner. read more

This restaurant has it all - great food, great service and yes, a great view! (I loved looking out and seeing the lake.) I live in Los Angeles but wanted to throw a surprise birthday party for my mom who lives in Sagle, ID. I was worried about trying to make arrangements long distance, but Cari and her staff made the party arrangements easy and fun! The night I flew into town my mom took me to "one of her favorite restaurants" - The View. To her surprise, her two best girlfriends and friends from her church were there for her birthday party! Our waitress (I wish I could remember her name - because she was awesome!) took great care of our party! She was attentive, fun and kind! And the View's food was DELICIOUS! It was "Taco Tuesday" the night of our party so that's what most of the party guests ordered - they loved their tacos! I'm vegetarian so I had a grilled cheese with sautéed mushrooms and loved it! We stopped by for dinner and enjoyed an order of clams, the Chicken Marsala, and the burger special. Everything was fast, fresh and yummy. The facility, including the restrooms, was clean, service was very good, and the view of the lake was lovely. The only negative was the television, on for no particular show or reason, with the volume up, which spoiled the otherwise pleasant atmosphere. read more

Sometimes food okay, sometimes, not so much. Always a slightly dirty table. Service, typical north idaho, slow, incomplete and inaccurate. Usually friendly. Last meal was fish and chips, had it before, it was pretty fair before. This time, two very skinny fish stick type of fish with small handful of potato chips... $13.00. read more

The service was slow. We were there at about 6:30 on a Friday night and the place was empty except for one customer at the bar. I ordered soup as a starter and my husband ordered a salad. He had finished his salad and I still didn't have my soup. Our waitress was chatting with a customer at the bar and not busy at all. We had to flag her down and remind her of my soup order. The clam chowder was ok, but very watery. Our food took a long time to come out. My Philly cheesesteak sandwich was pretty good. The only bad part about it were the onions were burnt to a crisp. I think this place has potential to be better. I won't be back, there are too many better options with good service. read more

One star because we would drive out there from Coeur d'Alene because of the cute cabin café nestled in the woods full Of character Overlooking the lake, and because of that type of atmosphere at the cafe, we would take our out-of-state company there too, but when they painted it white it totally ruined the character of the café. Its nothing special anymore, and the inside is super modern now, not cabin style at all. We were so disappointed! We rarely go there anymore and we don't take our company there anymore at all since they messed up the charm of it. On the good side their food is very good but you probably don't want to get biscuits and gravy because the biscuits are hard as a rock and I inquired about them being so hard In a very calm and friendly manner and the answer the waitress said was rude when she said "well their biscuits that's just how they are".... really?? they aren't like that anywhere else I eat, and what a lame answer. A good waitress would've offered to redo the plate and soften the biscuits or Ask if I would like to order something different. She said what she said and then just turned around and walked away. The people I was with were pretty stunned by how she acted. On another visit we went there to have breakfast and I ordered eggs, hash-browns, and toast. When I got it I started to eat the hash-browns and they reeked like the taste of fish. They had to have cooked them in some sort of cooking oil or butter that was used to cook the fish in and then they put my hashbrowns in it Unless they didn't clean the stove top after cooking fish. I had a couple of people at our table try it and they just about puked. I didn't want to say anything because it was pretty full of people, and you sit so close together that they would've heard me and I didn't want anyone to think that the restaurant does that all the time so I just didn't eat them. Other than their biscuits and gravy, and hash-browns, everything else is great so you're pretty safe if you get hamburger and fries, salad etc...I haven't tasted any fishy stuff in those LOL read more

Love, love, love this restaurant!! From the beautiful view of the cocolalla Lake, to the fast, friendly service, and yummy foods, all make this the best spot in N Idaho!! My family especially loves the Prime Rib and Taco Tuesdays. I highly suggest you take the drive and try them out. read more

I have been to the View Café many times in the past (when under different ownership) and have really been rooting for it to be a success. I love for small local businesses to be able to make a go of it while competing with big chain restaurants and other distractions. Overall we were all very pleased with our experience. The restaurant was fairly crowded and everyone seemed to be having a good time - always a good sign. The waitress seemed to be really working hard to keep everyone happy and was really hustling - also a good sign. The one thing about that was that she seemed to be just a little overworked and I understand that there is a fine balance between having too many staff and too few staff in any small business. I am more inclined to give grace in a situation and be more patient and willing to wait when I see that the staff are really motivated to work even if they are not able to attend to your every need. I think that was the situation for the day we were there. We were all pleased with our food and everyone agreed that we would be back. read more

From the ashes re-opened and much better than before. Great breakfast with real bacon, not sliced razor thin. Service was great, options were very good and we will be back. Our group all had the same experience...good. The only thing I would offer is to let us know if we sit ourselves or wait for the staff to sit us...kinda confusing...simple sign or comment. Stopped to try this restaurant out with my mom and two hungry young kids. It took way to long to get the food. Having to wait as long as we did was unpleasant. They also messed up my order and my son's order (cooks fault). I wasn't very impressed with the food. And the food is over priced. If money is not an issue and you don't mind waiting over a half hr. For food then this restaurant is perfect, otherwise I wouldn't waste your time or money. Need some improvements. read more

Ate here for the first time last week. Decided to have breakfast on our way to Coeur d'Alene. The inside is nice and clean and the waitress was Super Friendly. We came for Eggs Benedict, but they were out of ham. Disappointed, we ordered the chicken fried steak and an extra egg and splut the whole thing. Glad we did because it was huge! Not only that, it was delicious. Eggs, toast, coffee were all good. Nice to sit by the window and see Cocolalla Lake even though it was frozen over and covered in snow. Docked 1 star because the TV volume was up even though no one was watching. Drives me nuts that every restaurant had a TV now, especially when it's just causing noise. Also theres a refrigerator whose backside is visible towards the dining room. Not pretty. Needs covering or a mural painted on it. But we will be back to try dinner. Food was great. Great Breakfast on 12/14/2017, I had the egg sandwich (great home fries) and my wife had the veggie scramble. Everything was done just right, but next time I am getting the veggie scramble, too much for my wife to eat, so I finished it, Wow was that good, loved those mushrooms. Service was fast and my coffee cup never emptied. read more

We are locals and LOVE The View! We stop here for breakfast on our way up Schweitzer to ski. The home cooking is delicious, and of course the view of the lake is amazing. We take family here when they visit for lunch and we always leave satisfied. This is a must stop! read more

Wish I could give zero stars! Stopped here for lunch. My hubby and I both ordered grilled sandwiches. The were brunt totally black! It was gross. Couldn't believe the waitress actually brought them out. We sent them back and to our shock the new sandwiches were also jet black, burnt to a crisp. When I complained again the waitress said they have to be cooked like that so the insides melt. really! Show me any picture of a black grilled cheese sandwich. She seemed snippy when we said just give us the check. Threw out the sandwiches and will never go there again. Wish I took a picture but I was in too much shock that we were being served such garbage. Go at your own risk. read more
