Friendly service and warm atmosphere. Us locals love this place and happy we can go "out to eat" and not go all the way to town as things are just too crazy busy anymore. Their breakfast is amazing and cannot wait to plan a lunch there sometime soon. We just always go for breakfast and a nice cup of coffee. Very accommodating to families with littles and have high chairs and even gave my kiddos a snack while we waited for our meal. read more

I've driven by this place many times, vowed I would stop in sometime to try it, and one day when I remembered the location so I could slow down on the highway in order to make the turn...I found it had been shut down due to a fire. It has now reopened and I finally was able to visit. It was smaller inside than I expected but comfortable. Everything is painted in a modern gray palette. The wait staff were friendly and the restroom was clean. The food was wonderful and servings perfect to left-overs large. I had huckleberry waffles (crispy outside with a sweet crunch) and they didn't skimp on putting a good amount of whole berries in with the sauce, and real whipped cream as well! They offer Woods (local) bacon which hands down is THE best. My husband had the chicken fried steak that came on it's own platter and the big fluffy biscuits and country gravy. The tab was a bit more than typical than I'd care to spend on breakfast but the quality is well worth it! Will be returning again, perhaps to try out some lunch items next time. read more

WORST WAITRESS EVER. Took our whole family here and a very large woman with the shittiest watercolor tattoos waited on us. Even though we showed up almost two hours before close she glared at us for 10 minutes before even bringing us water, she followed us out and yelled at us even after we left her a 20% tip she DID NOT deserve. She started putting chairs up around us 40 minutes before they closed and never offered boxes or anything. My sisters burger was COMPLETELY raw in the middle. Never coming back, the shitty waitress needs to be fired she was awful to us. read more

My travelling companions insisted we have breakfast at The View Cafe. I don't usually eat much breakfast but I indulged my friends and we traveled 25 minutes from Garfield Bay to this place. On a Sunday morning there was a wait to be seated. The place was hopping. That's a good sign. People don't usually wait in line for bad food. I ordered the half order of biscuits and gravy, which comes with a giant biscuit and hash browns, and add a side of four link sausages. It was great! The biscuit as so fluffy and the gravy tasty. A half order was the prefect portion for me. I loved it so much I jumped at the chance to go the next morning. Monday was much slower. No wait at all. I ordered a plate sized pancake with huckleberries and a side of two sausage patties. Another hit! Will come again when I'm in North Idaho. read more

The biscuits and gravy was a great choice. The side of bacon was not worth the money. Our breakfast came to $71. Absolutely not worth the price. When we lived in Sandpoint (20 years ago) we used to go there every week. The country vibe and the matching country cooking made the trip through the police traps worth it. The ambiance: I googled it before coming so the change wasn't surprising. That old world charm is gone. The X-gen grey interior already seemed outdated. It felt more like my doctors waiting room than a restaurant. The place just is not the same. The food: the coffee was very good. I ordered biscuits and gravy, hash with two OM eggs. The portions were huge. Unfortunately quantity never makes up for quality. The eggs were OE and must jave been 4 giant doughy biscuits split in half all smothered together. I ate what a could and left half on the plate. I'm a big person and a retired chef. I don't like wasting food. Serving more than your customers can eat is throwing money away. They will always return to a great meal. Service: if i could give 10 stars i would. She was busy but let me know she'd be right back. About 3 minutes or 3 bites she came to check up on me and my coffee was never empty. read more

We stopped for breakfast and lunch there yesterday en route back to Sandpoint. My husband had a breakfast that he really enjoyed. I ordered a grilled cheese, bacon well done, and tomato sandwich with a side salad. Our server was very nice but my grilled sandwich turned out to be cheese and bacon plus the bacon wasn't very crisp, as requested. However, my biggest problem was that the oil they used for my grilled sandwich was rancid and although I managed to get down three quarters of the sandwich, I really didn't feel that well when we got home. I didn't want to say anything while there as I didn't want anyone thinking I wanted my meal computed but I think it should be noted so your kitchen chef is aware that this is not satisfactory. read more

We had breakfast at this cafe and the food was good -- but the service was not great. The atmosphere was nice and the restaurant (bathroom included) seemed clean. We had a Veggie Omelette, Breakfast Burrito and French Toast. All our food came out with nice sized portions and the ingredients were fresh. My only complaint was our server had a poor attitude and seemed too comfortable with her employment. We only got our coffee refilled once and we had to ask for it. We also had a problem with the way our Breakfast Burrito came out and the issue was never resolved. Serious communication break down with our server. This place has potential. I hope the management keeps up the consistency standards and trains the employees on better customer service! read more

We are visiting sandpoint from Washington and wanted to find a diner that had great brunch style food, this place has really good food!! I mean really really good food! The view of the lake is nice but the food is 5 stars! Fast friendly service and the huckleberry mimosa was good, I added orange juice to it as it was a bit tart for my taste, I'd say ask for a orange huckleberry mimosa it's the perfect blend!
