They spent all this money to build bars and kitchens, and none of them are operating. But the main issue is charging out-of-town fans $10 to watch their kids play youth baseball. It's absurd. They also don't drag the fields between every game, which is such a hazard and unnecessarily dangerous for youth players.

The field setup and field fencing was a bit unusual. For example, some of the seating areas are one way only, so you cannot walk from one field to the next. Not a big deal; however. The park borders a school, and the school parking lot was open. There is also a parking lot on Walnut avenue. A snack bar was open and sold everything that youth sporting snack bars sell (water, soda, candy, nachos, etc). There is a park restroom and a couple of portables. In regards to the spectators, parents, and coaches, they were friendly and good sports. Overall, this park is able to facilitate a whole lot of youth baseball games simultaneously. The game was great, and my nephew made us proud!

It lacks certain utilities, but it has that rare public football field. I felt comfortable here. Did I feel safe? Yes. This felt very clean, welcoming, and family oriented. I noticed Little League Baseball and their family; I saw teenagers praying since their church is nearby; and I saw families just resting. What utilities? This location has two baseball fields, one football field, one concrete walking path, a refurbished playground that's firetruck themed, many tables (some with a gazebo roof), a restroom, water fountains, and a pet plastic bag waste dispenser. What are the negatives? There are no basketball courts, tennis courts, and other typical, extra utilities. The walking path is very distinct, but the path is concrete and shade can sometimes be sparse depending on the day. Overall, Cortez Park squeaks into the 5 Star Rating Spot because it felt very scenic. Out of the many parks that I've seen today, I found a scampering squirrel happily eating in her tree. This rolling hillsides and small statues make this park a bit more memorable. This park is a nice, lovely spot to wander under a cloudy, new day. 4.5 out of 5

Woke up early on a Saturday for the SC MAF San Gabriel Valley track and Field championships. Yeah,…read moreproud papa of an eight-year-old who's going to run the 400 relay and the 400 m. The facility seems to be part of the San Dimas high school proper (insert Bill and Ted's Excellent Adventure reference here...) and appears to be a first-class facility for track and field, baseball, football, and other outdoor activities. The field is a blue all weather track, with large bleachers on either side. And array of solar panels adjacent to the 57 freeway, right next to an old windmill, give this place a sense of past, present, and future. There are ample restrooms, warm-up facilities, training rooms for both home and visiting teams, and plenty of space to spread out. There appears to be a parking area south of the track, but we parked up north of the high school, and walked him. Either seems to work out just fine. Signage indicates that the truck is open to the public at times, but events such as this preempt any public access.

We've taken the kids to a few movies. 4/5 Recreation Renovated playground gives the kids much needed play. There is a padded walking path near Badillo Ave. Always a lot of people playing fútbol or catch in the open areas. 2/5 Bathrooms Well you do have to worry about this thing Outdated and always smells like urine. A good powerwash could help. 4/5 Parking Street parking available all around. This park doesn't have a designated parking lot. 3.75/5 Likelihood to Return While it's no longer our go to park it's still nice to be able to walk on a spongy trail. Love the fact the parking is close to the park entrance and several co-located picnic benches for those with mobility issues. There was a small rose garden along the walking path in front of the stage, with built in benches around it in case you need a seat. Lots of beautiful open grass space, incredible playground, and impressive an coffee stand. This is what our communities look like when we invest in them. Great job La Puente local government and residents. You all rock! The basketball courts looked fun as well! I don't play but plenty of young people were enjoying all the recreational offerings as we older folks danced the night away!

Too many dogs without a leash at this park. There is many big dogs that are unleashed and they…read moreterrorize my kids they don't pick up their waste and they city ordinances are posted but nobody enforces them. Unfortunately the people who come here have birthday parties on weekly take over the grassy areas and leave so much garbage behind, bathrooms are left filthy. I always come on Sunday mornings and bring a trash bag to help clean the park up as I live across the street and the garbage bring back coyotes and possums. Hilda Solis our parks have seen better days and we should have an AED Device for emergencies as we do have many older citizens who visit this park. Many parks outside of your district have this feature.

There's a pretend airplane for kids; there's a small tropical playground where toddlers can run into a cat's mouth; and there's a lot of nets for climbing. This location is open from 5AM to 10PM. Did I feel safe? Yes. This park only had families with children. It's also one of the West Covina Parks that confidently post their rules. There's many signs labeled "Park Watch" to keep residents safe. What utilities? There's two main playgrounds. One play ground has an airplane that kids can climb into. That same playground has nets where they can freely climb; the floor is spongey foam, so they have a soft landing. The other playground is tropical and fenced. Toddlers can run near plastic trees, and there's a plastic cat with an open mouth where they can sprint through. The location also has a fenced baseball field; there's a public shaded patio with tables; and there's public park gym equipment equipped with umbrellas for shade. There's also a restroom and water fountains. What are the negatives? This location doesn't feel very pet friendly. I didn't see any pet waste bags, and there's not really a walking area. There's a possible concrete walking loop, but visitors will be walking on the sidewalk. Also, it lacks many common utilities (example: no basketball courts, no tennis courts, etc). Overall, Palm View Park squeaks into a 5 Star because it feels memorable for families. The playgrounds are very adorable, and I like how there's beautiful, big trees near the seating area. If searching for some interesting playgrounds, this is a good choice if already nearby. 4.5 out of 5

This park is such a little gym. There's so much to do here for all ages. There's a splash pad, big…read moreplayground and gym equipment all one little corner. The bathrooms and are large individual stalls with changing areas and a family restroom. There's even an outdoor shower to rinse off after using the splash pad. There's a limited amount of tables. Whenever I go the covered bench area always has a party going on. I don't see any phone numbers to call to reserve so I'm not sure if it's first come first served but there is a large concrete area and I've seen people bring their own chairs and tables.

We'd play board games, play outside, do a picnic, the works. I'm not sure if the kids these days still do that here or it no longer happens. It's a nice park that's been updated in those decades. The playground is nice and clean with good facilities and there's those exercise machines too. It does get a bit crowded since a lot of the local community comes here to walk, hang out, and there's baseball and soccer games. Once in awhile, there's food trucks here too. Parking can get a bit tough during those times, but the surrounding neighborhoods work too. Very clean, very safe and populated.
