Can you say "Highway robbery!"? I needed to ship a vintage rifle scope that sold for $5,750. I set up shipping with UPS online-cost (fully insured) was $98. When I tried to print a label I got a message that because of the high value of the item, it had to go through a UPS employee in person. Not knowing the UPS customer service on Clyde Park was shut down, I started there. An employee outside the building told me The UPS Store was nearby, so I went there. After considerable key punching, the clerk quoted me $248 to ship the package-including $178 in insurance! I told her the online price was $98 and her response was "Well, we charge retail." I stopped at the Wayland Post Office on the way home and was quoted a price of $94.60 for priority mail, including their maximum available insurance of $5000. They took it, promised to handle it carefully, didn't give me the attitude I got at The UPS Store, and had it to my customer in Nebraska two days later. Geoff C. read more

I do a LOT of returns at various UPS Stores due to Amazon and the nature of my work. I have been to SEVERAL UPS Stores, in MI and in several other states for work. My experience at this particular location is the worst customer service I have ever had at a UPS Store. In short, visit another location if possible. Longer explanation below. I had two boxes of light fixtures to return, they were delivered to me from Amazon as one order, and when I hit return on the website, I had one QR code provided to me from Amazon. When I arrived and they scanned my phone, the girl working at UPS refused to return the boxes, said I needed a bigger box for both. I could purchase it there, or return home and come back. I had one code, and it needed to be in one box. I asked why, as that has never been a issue before. BACK STORY: I have returned hundreds of items in my lifetime. Sometimes with up to 10 on 1 QR code. She was (rudely) insistent, that I needed 1 QR code per 1 item. Again, NEVER have I been asked for 1 QR code per 1 item. I stepped aside trying to look on my phone about how to get another code. While I waited I watched her help another customer. A woman with her arms full of smaller items as an amazon return. She told her the same, and made the woman purchase a cardboard box from UPS for $5. They put all the items in the box before processing the return. I stepped up again, asked if it was a new policy? She looked at me, and rolled her eyes, said it was always the policy, and they have always needed one code per item. I said "ma'am, I do hundreds of amazon returns at tons of UPS stores across the US, with multiple items, can she help me understand why is this the first time I am hearing this?" And she blew me off, and said that wasn't true, I was mistaken. A co-worker turned around and got involved and said "she is right, we tell everyone this.." I was confused, frustrated, and they had given me a LOT of attitude that I was wrong and they didn't want to deal with me. so I left. Drove to another location 5 min away. At the second store they were polite and explained: they can put things in plastic bags if they are smaller, but the items need to fit in medium boxes they send back to Amazon.. my 2 light boxes were too big, and would need to be processed individually. The other store helped me with my phone and getting 2 QR codes, and politely helped me understand the policy for the future. It was all handled quickly in a few min. This location was rude, dismissive, and gave no explanation. They also charged the woman ahead of me $5 for a box. After it was all done, it made me think they are just scamming people to buy extra boxes at this location. read more

Location is within a strip mall on 44th Street just West of Burlingame. The staff is always friendly. I am never in there too long because my packages are labeled before I go, so I am just dropping off most of the time. Store is clean, hours are good. Convenient location. Plenty of parking. Today they were closed due to computer being down so I ventured over to the main hub. which is about 10 minutes from this location. So no biggie. read more

Was so nervous to do a return the Monday after Christmas but this store really had it together! The line was to the door but I didn't wait longer than 2 minutes. The employees were friendly and efficient, and they even had an extra employee scanning Amazon returns at the front to expedite even quicker. Won't go to any other location. read more

I never thought I would find myself leaving a review for a UPS store but the level of service amazed me. The gentleman at the front helped me as soon as I walked in, took my package, closed it up, put a label on it as he talked very genuinely to me in the process. I left the store feeling like an important customer which is a rare find these days when the emphasis is on "me", it's nice when you find a business that is about "you". I will always come back here whenever i need something shipped. read more

I never thought I'd make my way to Yelp to review a UPS store, but after having repeated surprisingly positive experiences here, I thought I'd drop by and say you're in for a quick, easy, and friendly stop if you use this location. There's a main guy who seems to be there no matter what time or day I stop in and most recently saw me take several large heavy packages out of my car (full of textbooks), and met me at the door to take the boxes out of my hands for me. In the past, he has helped me reinforce packaging tape that had busted on my box and is very knowledgeable the process dealing with a variety of companies who provide pre-made shipping labels. It's obvious that he encourages his fellow employees to be just as friendly and helpful because when I've been in and been helped by others, they also provided positive experiences. In short, if you want a stress-free experience, you're likely to find it here. read more

A package was supposed to be delivered to my daughter on a Tues, will it wasn't. On Wed, I was told that it would be there NLT 7:00, again it wasn't. I called and after being hung up on, I called back and was told that the weather conditions was too bad. Which is funny cause 3 hours earlier they had delivered a package to my sister who lives 1.9 miles away from my daughter. Well here it is 2 days later, will it be delivered? I doubt it. I wouldn't do business with these people, I paid $17, was lied to, hung up on and put off, not very customer friendly. read more

UPS Wyoming, Michigan store: I was guaranteed a package for Saturday delivery. However the weather was bad...understandable. I could wait till Monday if need be. Waiting for a key to my sons' apt who is in the military and now unreachable. Rented a car Monday afternoon...Monday came and went. When I realized the package would not arrive it was too late to call. My husband and I both took the following day off work ....thought for sure they would deliver first thing Tuesday. Called and spoke with Kelly who told me she would check with the driver and get back to me. I told her my husband and I would be willing to meet the driver somewhere along his route (to make it easier for them and to obtain the key). Kelly didn't call back so I called an hour later...trucks are still too full with priority packages can't get to the back of the truck it's on. So waited another hour, now Kelly has all her drivers looking on their trucks. I told her I know a little about their system and they should know 'which truck' my package is on. The tracking number said they checked it in Tuesday morning at 5 am. Well, human error happens....KELLY kept saying, it's not a perfect system. So I said I'd keep calling. Called again, asked to speak with the District Manager, Derek....who happened to be in a meeting but was promised he would call me after. He didn't call. I called again...Derek just left for lunch. So I just decided to keep calling, I knew they recognized my number and were choosing not to pick up. After 13 calls (about 22-24 rings each time) Kelly picked up and said I was harassing her and being rude. Oh and still the promise that Derek will call. I thought UPS had state of the art tracking systems? Kelly probably threw my package away. I realize I have been a pain in her side all day ...but I was willing to go out of my way this morning to save them time, I wasn't asking that they change their delivery route. I just wanted to know which truck, which driver had my package...and I told her first time I called we would be willing to wait a couple hours so they had some time to unload a lot of their deliveries so they could find my package. Now it's almost 5 pm....what do you think my chances are of receiving my package today ... or even tomorrow. So, I rented a vehicle for two unnecessary days, both my husband and I missed an extra day of work ...had she just of been willing to think outside the box and try and accomplish what the UPS Mission Statement claims I would already be in MD! So sad....when I mess up at work I admit it and try to fix the problem....not Kelly, and Derek...guessing he is to afraid to call knowing how mad I am. Their drivers are always nice ...maybe it would be helpful if the office staff did a few drive-alongs....or maybe the tracking numbers they provide could actually be meaningful and helpful. I know it's frustrating when you write a negative review, then someone comes along and has a completly different experience however, fair is fair and I want to make sure that others read that I was very pleased with the assistance I received from the woman that was working in the store today 10/24 2015 she was polite and very helpful, you can't ask for more. they after all are dealing with many issues that are also beyond their control...Thank you. read more
