This is a review of the Owner/Manager, Sergio, rather than every employee at this location (there are some kind, helpful staff members but it is kind of like winning the lottery if they are there). Unfortunately, this is the only UPS store that I am aware of in the town, so options are limited. I had not realized that the store owner has a pattern of unkind, rude, unprofessional, sarcastic, condescending behavior towards the people of Walla Walla (his customers), as I had not read the litany of poor reviews from customers of all walks of life prior to visiting the location. When I requested clarifying information about the UPS delivery schedule to his store, he began to recite that his business is not and has no business with UPS, as though I were criticizing his business (or UPS for that matter); this was a simple request for information so that I did not return to the store on the wrong day/time. The latter part of his statement seems misleading at best because they do in fact take money to ship things via UPS so there is likely some type of business arrangement in place to make this happen, even as a UPS Store Franchise. He referenced Amazon a number of times in regards to this package, which was really confusing at first because the package I came to pick up today was not from Amazon. I then realized that he was lashing out because I had contacted Amazon before surrendering items to this store once previously because he refused to look at Amazon's directions for shipping a particular return, handing it back to me so I called Amazon to have them notate my account so I wouldn't be penalized on the costly item- nothing personal towards him (which was over a month ago -- a bit scary). To make matters worse, if you try to speak to him in a civilized, adult way to provide feedback on the unkind/sarcastic statements and tone of voice, he begins making rationalizations for the behavior and ultimately may or may not offer an apology which seems a far cry from sincere. It is best to bring a person with you when you enter this business so that there is an objective witness and to hopefully lessen the likelihood he will lash out with passive-aggressive or other poor customer service. It is very concerning that the UPS Store franchise does not monitor its franchisees for quality, as locations like this degrade the brand and make customers fear or dread to do business there. It seems like he takes advantage of being the only UPS outlet in town and that is disappointing because local businesses are such a rich part of the fabric of our community. Do yourself a favor and select UPS pickup for returns or consider other carriers if you are shipping something until the issues are addressed. The folks at the town US Postal Service and The Postal Annex store (which offers FedEx and other options) are genuinely kind, so in that way, Walla Walla does have other options and you will receive professionalism and care patronizing those other businesses instead. read more
