I had to stop by the store for picking up a package. The female store clerk checked my ID and gave my package. Often times, the package will be left at the apartment which is secured to a degree. I asked why the carrier didn't leave it at my apartment and her response was that the carrier thought the package was valuable. I can understand that but it was just inconvenient to stop by since the location of this store isn't exactly near my work. read more

I understand that this store recently came under new ownership, and I'm happy to report that my experience today was just as great as it has always been for me and my family; It's a nice store to walk into, the staff knows their business and gave great, fast service. We were helped by Paula today as were dropping off a package with a very rural campground address in the north woods that wasn't playing nice with the usual formats that the postal sytem looks for. Paula immediately understood what was tripping up the computer's system and knew how to "push the order through" to get the package the correct postage and the correct address so that it will make it to this semi-remote campground. She got it the package delivery straightened out and on its way in far quicker time than it's taking you to read it (or for me to write it) So the short review is: Great service as usual, great products and a staff that knows what to do for the "routine orders", and knows what to do when then the order goes "off the usual script" read more

In the dictionary under "above-and-beyond customer service," they really should have a photo of the Madison UPS store. To understand why, I have to summarize the very unusual service I requested of this store and manager Keith Johnston. Last month was my husband's birthday. The only thing he wanted was a Steelcase drafting-style office chair to match the one he already has. Only problem is, this model was discontinued 22 years ago. I looked everywhere, including practically every Craigslist post in the country. When I finally found a match, it was at a surplus office supply just outside Madison, WI--and the store doesn't ship. For a moment I considered driving there from Tennessee--but instead I called the Madison UPS store. The woman who answered wasn't fazed a bit. She simply put me on the phone with the manager Keith, who only wanted to know what date I needed the chair by, and whether it would fit in the back of his SUV as he planned to personally (!) fetch it from the surplus supply and drive it back to UPS for packaging and shipping. The chair is heavy as the dickens, and much too big for one box, so Keith and his fellow staff built a custom crate out of two boxes--it was incredibly sturdy. They wrapped the chair in plastic, padded it top to bottom and on all sides with a lifetime supply of bubblewrap, and taped everything so securely nothing could move an inch (see photos of the unboxing in my front yard)--and in a final act of amazing customer kindness, Keith made sure the box would just fit within UPS ground rates, in order to save me the hundreds of dollars more it would have cost to ship via freight. The UPS driver who brought it to my door said she'd never delivered anything like it. Best of all was the look on my husband's face the morning of his birthday. Thank you again, Madison UPS store! It is so nice to know that folks like you, and exceptional, friendly service like yours, still exists. read more

I asked for a signature at delivery so that it can be left in the package room of my apartment. Instead, they had it delivered BACK to the customer center for not putting an apartment number. I'm in the middle of moving so I don't have one. Then they told me there's nothing they can do so to just come pick it up. I have no car and it's a 40 minute drive there and back. Update: They got it redelivered and the guy that delivered it was so nice I'm giving them 3 more stars for making up for everything. read more

I was surprised to see several negative reviews. I've used this UPS Store many times over the last couple of years, and I've had a good experience. I always go here rather than the post office when possible, especially at rush times. Even when there's a wait I feel well served. Staff have always been helpful and professional. A couple of times when I've had questions about a package and needed extra help, I called the store directly (rather than the national number) and the people I've spoken with have been concerned and gracious about giving me the time I needed. There have only been a couple of very minor problems. Once I changed my mind about shipping options part-way through. The staff person created a new shipping order, but gave me a receipt with the tracking number from the original order. When the (old) tracking number told me the package hadn't shipped a day later, it caused some temporary concern, but a phone call resolved it. I know this staff person was new; I won't hold something like that against a trainee. And occasionally a staff member, while professional, doesn't seem gleeful and energized. I don't really expect that. I haven't ever worked a service counter like this, but I'm sure it takes a toll sometimes, and I don't think it's reasonable to expect someone's eyes to light up for every customer. Even a wildly energetic extrovert can have an off day. If a staff person is polite, patient about answering my questions, and does what I've asked -- I'm a happy customer. So I go here, and I'll keep going here if the service stays good. read more

They can be helpful and nice, but be sure not to bother the 20-something super cool dude behind the counter. He'll quickly let you know you have no right to interrupt his day. We use this store regularly for convenience sake only. The service is so hit or miss. They can be really nice and helpful. Or you can be treated like you're bothering them. Very disappointed with recent perishable shipment I sent with them. I was going to ship this package with them via USPS which had 2 day shipping from Madison to Houston. I was talked into spending more money to ship vis UPS because they had a "guaranteed delivery" of 3 days, so it was "guaranteed " to arrive on Friday and not sit over a weekend. So much for the "guarantee"! It got to Houston on Friday at 8:20pm but they won't deliver it now until Monday. I'm sure this shipment will be DOA on Monday. Not only am I out the cost of the food shipped but the UPS Store will not refund my $50 shipping cost. Don't use UPS. Snail mail is much faster!?! read more

This is by far the worst UPS store I have dealt with. A package was not delivered to my work because it didn't have a suite number on the address, a suite number is not necessary because we have a front desk that handles deliveries. Then they mailed me a letter stating that I had to go to Middleton to pick it up or they would send it back to the store. I live no where near Middleton and refuse to pick it up. So hope and pray that you do not have to deal with this store. read more

I needed to ship my mother's antique china cross-country and entrusted my precious cargo to the Middleton (University Avenue) UPS staff. Ruthie treated the china as if it were her own. She packed with meticulous care, using special packaging inserts to protect each cup and bowl handle. Each piece was specially wrapped and the shipment was double boxed to provide further safety. Every single one of the 70-some items arrived intact. The entire staff made me feel that they all cared about its safe arrival. I like to find free boxes but didn't want to use alot of time searching local grocery stores and having to alter the box to fit ---she gave me the size I needed and scored the box---gave me incredible info on best way to package and tape---I do alot of shipping and presentation of my items are important---I am so happy to have store local to me---definitely will go again. Way overpriced!! Ship it via FedEx, USPS, or another way.

I have used this store several times for "convenience" purposes even though they are anything but convenient. I won't get into my past experiences, which were painfully slow, but to my current complaint. I usually go to FedEx for my basic printing needs but today I made the mistake of coming here. Upon entering there are two copiers/printers I asked the associate where I place my thumb drive to make my prints, as is done at FedEx, and was told that these printers "weren't working properly" and I would need to use the computer next to them to access my thumb drive. The associate provided assistance and when I was checking out I was charged $5.84 for printing 26 black and white pages. I was shocked at this high price then was told that there was a $2.00 fee for using the computer!!! This was something I should have been told about prior to using it. Upon leaving I noticed a sign stating there was a $2.00 "fee" for use of the computer. What a scam!!! I will go out of my way to not use any of their services again. Total rip-off! read more

I've gone there several times for different things over the past year--ups, an international package to germany, and some print--and always had good service. Friends had told me about this place cuz I go to willy st coop. It can get backed up there at the end of day when I'm commonly able to swing by after work, but still pretty good service and friendly....I was there late today in pouring rain to get some pages printed off my usb, and it was simple. no problem read more

I had been a customer at this UPS store for flyers and signs for the past few years and had never seen this woman there before... Nonetheless, I will never spend another dollar in this place. Shipped the package on Jan 6th priority (3- 4 day delivery) and after 2 weeks it had not been delivered. UPS store had not sent the proper paperwork with it. Very poor communication about package status and finally I just had it delivered back to me again. Store manager at this store appears to have lied to me about when it was received back again.....covering for himself and his poor service. If I could give this zero stars, I would. I went in to have some documents printed off for work, and went in as soon as they opened. It took almost 40 minutes to print a total of about 12 pages because of some computer issue. There was no one else in the store. I also had two cards to mail to the same address and since I was there and ran out of time to go to the post office, I sent them through UPS. Or so I thought. I was given a receipt with a tracking number and went on my way. Five days later, I find out the package (which my receipt said was shipped as a "first class package") still hadn't arrived. I tried tracking the package on the UPS site and the tracking information was invalid. I called UPS and they could not use the tracking information and suggested I call the store. I did and as soon as I started to provide the tracking information, I was told "No, you shipped that with a first-class stamp. We can't do anything." Well I didn't ship it that way, you did, and it would've been nice to know it went through USPS. I then called the post office and they said the tracking information was invalid and have no way to track a first-class stamp without tracking information. So hats off to you, UPS, for losing anniversary cards for my brother and parents. You won't be getting my business ever again. read more
