I'm shocked how this store has this low rating! This is the best UPS store I've ever seen and let me tell you why! The staff there always nice, polite, courteous and greeting you with the smile! They always explain and answer any question nicely! The best thing I like about them is that they don't make me worried about anything! That means that I just put my shipment in the box and bring it to them and they help me closing the box and sealing it without any complain ! In fact with a smile and they don't ask for any charges like the other UPS stores! I never go back to those UPS stores that charge me any extras! Thank you to the staff, who have helped this amateur ship items. Am occasionally lucky selling on EBay, and often go to this store. The folks are very good. Usually I conduct more business with FedEx, as their pricing tends to be more competitive. Also I've checked on a leased mail slot here. Theirs are in a orderly spot, in the back of the store. These are small, and the key can make things difficult. Being as coordinated as the Russian bear riding the circus unicycle doesn't help. Sometimes due to volume, you'll want to watch out for boxes in the way. This is probably the smallest UPS store in the area. Parking is a headache. If you like your ride, park on the furthest side. That interferes with convenience, so it's your choice, but I highly recommend the walk instead of who knows what. read more

We needed help with notarizing some documents and had good experiences at this store in the past. This time was much different and very confrontational. The notary we first worked with was unhelpful and took an adversarial approach to our interaction from the start. We heard from the company who needed the notary that the form needed the notary's full name as it appears on the seal -- which was not written down when first notarized. We went back and were greeted with a similar unwelcoming team. It's a shame. We've used this store for years, but won't ever be back. read more

Fwzam, a young woman, who waited on me today was the WORST customer service individual I have EVER encountered in my entire life. And I am a 7 year customer of that particular UPS store and a 20 year customer of other UPS stores. AWFUL AWFUL AWFUL! She was rude, crude, abrupt with absolutely no basic skills of courtesy or decorum. My teenage daughter was there today to do two returns for me. She and her friend both reported to me that they were treated very rudely. In addition they said the person in front had been treated rudely. I called and spoke with the manager who seemed to know exactly who I was speaking of. She told me that they are very busy during lunchtime and if someone isn't ready they will have to stand to the side. The thing is that that would have been okay if they had asked my daughter to stand to the side and figure out which package was for which QR code. But they didn't they proceeded to lecture her on how she needs to be ready. Guessing they wouldn't have tried to lecture me as an adult. AND they could still deliver the message in a polite manner. "Hey, just an idea that in the future you could number the packages" goes a lot further than, "You need to be ready like have the packages numbered" in a condescending tone. Then the manager told me that the person in front of my daughter couldn't even speak the language. I do not believe that is an acceptable reason to be rude to a customer. The manager again said it was very busy and when people have to wait because one customer isn't ready they get upset. I think we have all been in that situation and we can see it's not the UPS worker's fault. But either way customer service is serving ALL of the customers. Even the ones who don't speak perfect English or are younger and feeling a little flustered. While I can understand being frustrated when people are not ready (been in customer service my whole life and I've had people yelling in my face) there is NO excuse for being rude to a customer! read more

They used to have a couple of people there that were a bit unpleasant to deal with, perhaps because they were getting overwhelmed, but lately their service has been great. I have been using this store for several years now and have always found the staff to be friendly and helpful. I have been by the store several times before the actual opening time and have been allowed to drop off my package even though it was a little before opening hours. They printed the seating chart for my daughter's wedding and backed it on foam core board. It was oversized and turned out great. They printed it for me once but we had to reprint it due to a change in the guest seating. For some reason, the second file I emailed to them wasn't delivered the first two times I sent it so I was pushing a deadline I was afraid they wouldn't be able to make. I believe this store recently changed ownership. Service used to be exactly as most of the reviewers mentioned and why it was given such poor reviews. Recently, within the past month or so, there have been different people in the store helping customers. The ones in the store now and much more conscious and interested in providing great service for the customer. Most of the time I go in to either drop off a package being returned with a return label and picking up a receipt or I am going to get a form notarized. I'm glad they have new ownership, as they are in a prime location and tend to do a great business. read more

I wish I could give this store ZERO stars for POOR customer service. On Monday, Dec. 2, I paid $22.07 to mail a package to California. Received the tracking code, and my package was delivered back to the store the following day. Seven days later and numerous phone calls to the owner and staff, I have NO clue where my package is. I NEVER receive any calls from the store and no one seems to care about my lost package. I will NEVER do business with this store AGAIN. I was told I would receive a call today from the owner... Please heed the warnings of other yelpers and reviews about this UPS store location. This is by far the worst UPS store I've ever been to. I usually go to the UPS store in Kingstown where the people are awesome and I ship at least five packages a month out of that location. When I ship out my packages I have to assemble my boxes and they always give me their tape gun no questions asked. So imagine my surprise when I walked into the main street UPS store to ship out some pants and asked if I can have two small pieces of tape to seal the already closed box because it was fraying on the end, and the gentleman behind the counter told me that we'll be $2.50. What! $2.50?? For 2 pieces of tape. He followed up with: if you don't want to purchase individual pieces you can buy a complete roll for $4.50! I told him that was ridiculous and that I've never been charged for tape in the UPS store. I promptly walked out and shook my head. Do not go to this UPS store you will be nickel and dimed. Update - I waited 3 hours before pulling the trigger on this review. I don't like being rash when posting something negative about a business, but even after my cool down period I feel compelled to post this. I would give them zero stars if I could. read more

This store charged me for returning rental books to Chegg, they told me it's a new fee imposed by Chegg. They lied, other UPS stores did not charge me anything -specifically the Fair Oaks UPS store-. This UPS store on Main Street even charged me for a couple inches of tape they used to tape the box. Ok, so I go in to mail a paperback book and I needed 2 small pieces of tape to secure the package (it's not like I was mailing a plasma tv and asked to borrow 2 rolls of tape without paying). I have to say, I know these places are franchises, but I was shocked today when I came into the store to learn that this particular ups store that I stopped at on my way home, charges $1.00 to tape the top of a box that's being returned to amazon. Not a big box, just a normal shoebox size box. $1.00. Have you lost your mind? The guy smiled as big as he could when he said it too, so I decided it wasn't worth it and left. Never in my life have I experienced such a runaround for an undelivered item. I took my daughter's birthday present on September 2 to be mailed from the store. It was insured for the customary $100. It was never delivered. The tracking number said they delivered it to my daughter's apartment, but they must have delivered to the wrong apartment building. The manager told me they would get it taken care of. I have been trying to get the claim reimbursement for over six weeks. The manager told me the package was delivered. I insisted it had not been delivered and they could not provide any proof of delivery. Then they said they called my daughter and she insisted she did get the present. My daughter never received a phone call from this company or the store. I asked them to provide me with the phone number that they used, but they couldn't give me a phone number. This whole thing started to sound fishy.They assured me they would take care of it In a week. I went back againThis evening. And was told that the manager of the store told the employee not to follow up with my claim anymore because they called my daughter a second time and she assured them she had her present. My daughter is furious and is ready to have a conference call with them tomorrow morning. Bottom line, the management and employees of this store lie to the customer. Quick service. The guy helping another customer is rather short and rude to him. Our clerk seems ok. The notary service is rather expensive. $5 PER SIGNATURE! (We needed him to sign 5 pages) Outrageous! Oh and they have a store policy to not witness signatures! They notarize but can't have employees witness a signature? Crazy! Very quick and very easy quick transaction in my life I think. Can't remember anything as quick as this. I went to this UPS store location to return my Verizon Internet box to Verizon. I walked in and a young girl was at the counter and I walked up she said hello, I told her that I wanted to return this item she said ok. I gave the box to her and she printed out a paper slip sticker and said hold on to it for a certain amount of days just incase there's a problem. I said ok, and that's it? She said yes and I said thank you and I went on my way. Maybe took no longer then 2 to 3 minutes tops. Awesome and amazing quick experience. Thank you UPS, but also could not have done it with out Verizon for also making it easy with that return label and box that they sent me to give to you all at UPS to return to them all. I have used the UPS store before without an issue. This time however, they screwed me. I was sending a painting to the Republic of Georgia. If it had gone through US Military mail, via USPS, the post office would not insure it for more than $100. Abraham, the manager, suggested I send it through the diplomatic pouch. The only size stipulation was that one side be no more than 36". Abraham knew this. He had used the diplomatic pouch before. I bought their 35" box which THEY packed. The box and packing cost me $72.23. The shipping was an additional $179. I assumed the package was on its way to the Republic of Georgia. Four days later, when I checked its progress, the UPS site said it had been returned to sender. I called the store, they knew nothing. The following day, I picked up the box. A sticker on the outside said it had been rejected because it was more than 36". I measured the box. It was 36.5" They had mispacked the 35" box to exceed the regulations. So I paid $250 for a painting to travel from Fairfax to Dulles and back. Abraham refused to admit his store's packing was at fault. And has refused to issue any compensation. I am giving them a star because, the front desk people, Nell and Felix were pleasant. read more

Went in a Saturday 3/17 to ship a 7 lb. package to Texas. They wanted $36 for it to arrive by the following Monday and said it wouldn't go out until Monday 3/19 (more than 7 days out for arrival). I said I'd like for it to arrive by Friday 3/22; she then came back with a cost of $76. Needless to say I left with my package, went to the post office, shipped priority mail for $26 and it will get there by 3/21. Don't waste your time at this UPS facility because they are definitely over charging with minimal guarantees of delivery. read more

If you are shipping UPS you are better off using tht UPS website, *NOT* the UPS Store, to pay for shipping, generation of the address label, etc. (You can then drop off your package at a UPS box or a UPS Store.) The shipping rates here are inflated, and the insurance rates charged are DOUBLE ($2/$100 vs $0.90/$100) what UPS charges with NO value added! I had a quote from UPS for $22. When I went to this UPS store they charged me $39! I asked why the difference and was told "that's what it costs, do you want to send it or not?" Nice attitude! Wouldn't give me an itemized receipt. Found out later that UPS Stores are franchises, and the owners pad their rates for additional profits. Generally disappointing experience. Will never use them again! read more

Listen, I am not the only one that feels like your customer service is poor. Look at your overall yelp ratings. You need to take a class in customer etiquette and learn to treat your customers with respect and class. I am surprised UPS hasn't contacted you to speak to you about your poor service. Look at yourself in the mirror and ask yourself why I used bad language, if someone says speak English and is talking over you, I'm sure that would irritate you. Nothing more to be said. i walked in to the store and initiated a greeting to the clerk. I had to say "hi" exactly 3 times before he hesitantly responded back with no smile. then i grabbed an envelope off the shelf from their retail section of the store to mail something and the guy immediately told me the cost of the envelope and that insulted me because i already know that the overpriced envelope is for sale. if he was more concerned with providing a quality service and worry about the payment at the end of the transaction then i would have done business with them. i can't trust someone who asks for money first before completing their job. they worry so much about getting money that they are losing customers. i ended up shipping with the USPS. the UPS one week shipping was the same price as the USPS overnight guaranteed. read more
