One scanned perfectly fine and the other wouldn't scan for some reason. I was told to reprint the label at home and come back again. This is confusing because anytime there was an issue with the label they just reprinted it in store and sent me on my way. Today I'm told it's a $3 charge and I decline stating I would rather print it and come back than waste $3 for them to print a label I already paid for. The associate tells me I'm wasting more money in gas by doing it this way... super classy UPS and what a polite way to speak to your customer! I will never be back to this location again and recommended the management retrain the employees on best practices when speaking to customers. UPDATE: I just left another UPS store location. They were able to scan my package successfully. I asked about the three dollar fee and they informed me that it depends on the store and sort of how they're feeling that day. If you're going to have a company policy, it should be enforced to everybody equally not just when you feel like it.

I packed to ship a piece of work with an insurance value of $500. I've always taken those to a UPS Store with no problem. This time, as I created the UPS label the bot told me I would have to take the two sets of insurance papers to the main location for signatures or schedule a pickup so the driver could sign. I live in a secure condo building so it's often difficult to schedule a pickup (which can cost up to $6.80), so I chose to drive to the main customer service center in Commerce City, which is about 6 miles away. When I got there I discovered it had been closed for good. It was an empty building with a bunch of UPS long haul trucks parked. I didn't want to pay for the pickup so I decided I'd just look for a UPS truck as I ran the rest of my errands. I finally spotted one as I was driving down my street to come home. The driver parked in front of my building to deliver a package across the street and I had him sign the papers and take my package. The driver was wonderful and gave me a tip as to how to locate a driver next time this happens. So, I'm really upset about all of this. They're making it much harder for their customers - first by lowering the insurance amount that requires a signature from $1K to $500. Then by removing the facility where the higher value items can be processed by customers - this leaves us without any real customer service on the ground. I don't know if they want to force everyone to schedule pickups and put more money in their pockets or what they're doing, but I may start researching other carriers.
