The crew here are extremely helpful in printing, packaging, and posting things off. It is somewhat of a small store which causes the place to get crowded real quick with a constant flow of customers but I like how the employees keep everything going. Remember the advertisement where UPS lists all the things if can do for it's customers: pack it, ship, print it, mailboxes, printing, banners and postcards to help your small business grow. Nope! Today they trained my husband to scan, bag, seal, label and toss our Amazon returns into a bin. All 9. Apparently customers now are instructed to work there, have no choice and then pay for the privilege and wasted time of doing so. I think we should get a 50% discount. read more

Customer service is not good. Yes, I will always ask you if there is a less expensive way to pack or ship my item. I'm spending money and don't like to spend more than I need to. Further, and possibly more relevant, I will always question your packing practices as they are excessive and appear to be designed to make money for the store. Examples include using an 8x8 box full of bubble wrap and paper for a women's bracelet that is not fragile or expensive. Really? An 8x8 box. Other packing excesses include trying to box two shirts. Really, what packaging is needed for shirts. UPS needs to start considering the amount of waste in paper and plastic that is generated by the excessive packing model. Most egregious is your comments when I question. Rule 1, the customer is always right and customer service matter. You would do well to retrain your employees on this issue. read more

Perhaps others have had a more fruitful experience here, but I have to relay my own experience with the staff. One previous reviewer commented on the friendliness of the staff. I would like to disagree, as the staff person who was supposed to assist me spoke very condescendingly. When asking about printing a label, she said it would be over $2 for a normal black and white document. Alright, I did not expect this as my document was paid for by the owner, but I agreed to it. When I asked another question, she interrupted me and said, "Ma'am, like I already told you before, I can't help you with xyz." Rather blunt, but I didn't really mind. It really rubbed me the wrong way when, upon finishing up with the document, she didn't say anything polite, not even a thank you. Let me emphasize I came in with a document supposed to ship for free. To go over the $5 minimum payment, I bought some grossly expensive packaging tape, bringing my total to $9. Ridiculous. Further, the staff person charged me $2 for something I could have printed at home. Normal paper, BW ink. Waste of time and insensitive service. Not the worst, but certainly not the best or even remotely efficient. read more

What do people expect from a UPS store?? OK, seriously, we surely only expect this to work like a reasonably efficient post office (which is not saying much). This UPS store seems to being living up to that expectation. I'm concerned about those who have written scathing reviews of this place. Are the employees happy here? I doubt it. Why would the employees be happy here? They mailed my package. It got where it needed to be. I'd like the employees to be happy (just cuz), but I'm not going to take their despondency personally. Utterly incompetent. I've tried using them a time or two, but they've mishandled literally everything they've touched. Worst experience to date was shipping some Christmas presents that never arrived -- when I called them they said it was because of some (blacked out) chemical labeling on the box. When I'd dropped the boxes off, the minimum-wage counter person told me it was all just fine. By that time I was in another city and couldn't go back and deal with it. Go to the "industrial" UPS place (their loading center) on North Lincoln -- as weird as it is and as odd as their hours are, they know exactly what they're doing and always get your stuff there on time. read more

After reading the bad reviews I was nervous to use this location. That being said, it was the only location close by and I had to catch a flight later out of O'Hare. I found the employees to be very helpful, were respectful of my time, and overall very nice. I would definitely recommend this location. Know what you need to do, be nice, be patient if there is a line, and you will do well. Don't let the other bad reviews scare you! read more

Took ATT equipment to return. ATT instructions said all packaging and shipping was paid. UPS wanted to charge me for taping the box. Left and went to FedEx where they took the equipment and processed the return for free. read more

I went in around 5:45pm to drop off my daughters college books to return. There were 3 people in the store still taping up their packages. I went to the counter where there was no one being helped. Just needed to set my package down and leave, no receipt needed. They told me to go stand in line, I explained as was going to the back, I was not trying to get in front of anyone I thought they were finishing their packaging. She asked me why I thought people were standing in line. She was very short and rude, so I asked her name. She said "nothing" and I am not giving you my name. I said I would go to the other UPS store in town and she said "good" and "don't come back". I do not need to give them anymore business but thought others might like a heads up on the rudeness you may encounter with "nothing". read more

In the summer of 2017 I had this store pack at least ten separate shipments (eBay sales of audio gear). Four of the items packed by them were damaged in shipping in a two week period. As of today, 10/05/17 they haven't refunded me one penny of my packing costs and UPS has denied one of the claims. I made the mistake of shipping a $4,000 acoustic guitar through them. UPS packed and shipped the item, damaged the item and refused to pay for the full repair - even though I paid for $2,000 of insurance. The store manager (Denise G.) is rude and hung up on me when I called to discuss it. She's unpleasant and unprofessional. The supervisor and owner (Scott/Andrew) refuse to engage with the customers. I asked that they call me - but they have no spine and hid in silence... for seven weeks. NOT. ONE. CALL. I filed a claim with UPS Corporate and The UPS Store headquarters and a claim with the Better Business Bureau. Take your items ANYWHERE else in a 10 mile radius to be packed/shipped. Today was the second time in a row for me to be treated rudely at the store on Kirby avenue in Champaign, Illinois. I have problems carrying packages or anything for that matter, because of problems with my hands. I brought 2 packages into the store in bags with handles. I carefully took them out of the bags and placed them on the counter next to where an employee was helping another customer. When it was my turn I motioned to the packages I had brought with prepaid and addressed labels already attached. He stood there, the packages in arms reach, and asked me to move them from the right side to the left. I gave him a puzzled look. He repeated his request for me to move the packages. So I managed to slide one package off the counter and move it to the other side. I had to repeat this with the second package. Lastly, I wasn't given a receipt. I had to request a receipt which he did print quickly and followed with a look that said will you just leave now. After this treatment I hope the packages arrive, but I will be holding onto that receipt. read more

I've never had a good experience here. The employees are usually not very friendly. They tend to be very condescending. Most recently I was trying to ship a package overseas, and the employee scoffed and told me it would be very expensive ($178). He told me I could send it through the post office, but it would still be $100 with no tracking, no guarantee of how it would get there, and it would take 2-3 weeks. I decided against shipping with them, went to the actual post office, and it was $65 for 3 day shipping with tracking and insurance. I will never go here for shipping again, especially for overseas. He was either poorly trained (considering they ship for the post office as well), or just wanted to steer me away from the actual post office. I didn't appreciate either one. read more

Wow. Went to this location today to mail a package, a very simple task that doesn't ask for much. The worker I dealt with behind the counter was immediately abrasive with me. It's a mailing service, not a 5 start restaurant. Just like any other business, the employees have rules they must abide by that customers may not agree with but rules are rules. I often use their service for business purposes and have never had a problem as long as I do not have to deal with the manager. She generally has a very nasty attitude and is commonly openly arrogant. I have been present when the manager has talked down and badly to a customer in front of other customers and the situation was quite embarrassing. I could also tell that the store employees, who are always very polite and helpful, were very uncomfortable. If it appears that I may be assisted by the manager I will stall and try to be assisted by an employee or go back another time. read more

I tried to use them for notarizing some simple documents and have them cite a store policy against notarizing documents relating to an asset transfer. One time I had to go through a lot of hassle but got the documents notarized. The second time, they refused to notarize, and I to drive across town for an alternative. Here is what I don't understand. All of these people are upset because the store has a list and protocol they have to follow. One guy claims they were closed by 5:25, which he thought was bullshit cause they close at 5:30. No sir, they actually close at 6:30 and you don't know what you're talking about. People think it's okay to bash and put the store down based on what the employees are required to follow by their protocol. The entire staff is amazing, friendly, helpful, and usually has you in and out of the store in 5 minutes. That's where the focus of these reviews should be. The UPS store is a customer service, not a 'bend the rules of the entire company to serve you and only you'. Here's an idea, if you are unsure if they can do what you need to do, before you drive all the way across town just call them. Even if they don't have an answer right away they are quick at finding you a resolution, and calling back to give you an answer. Amazing staff. Amazing store. Absolutely terrible customer service and respect. I went in there around 1pm on 11/13/14. I was shipping very large, heavy electrical units and when I asked for help, the man said, "by help you mean you just want me to do it". Completely rude and unprofessional. The woman rolled her eyes at everything I said about needing to verify their packaging on my unit. I was told, "if I don't have faith in their capabilities I can go somewhere else". This is my UPS store of choice if I miss our regular delivery. The location is great considering there are no other shipping store locations nearby. There is one long term employee, Michael, that is most helpful and easy going. The staff in general are quite friendly and helpful. I have never had a problem going here. I hate to write a poor review about any business. But I've now had enough unfortunate experiences with the UPS Store in Champaign at the Old Farm Shops that I just had to speak up. It's not that they're deliberately rude or mean. They're just thoughtless, indifferent, and decidedly unhelpful. One issue that's immediately apparent: The place is too small, it seems, to handle the volume of traffic. No matter which time of day I've arrived, there are always 3 or more people in line, awaiting service behind only one open register. There is never any greeting or acknowledgement. Never any "Hello" or "Good morning" or "I'll be right with you." Never any sign they know you're even in the store. The process for sending a box or package is not clear (Do I fill out a form in advance? Can I just give them the delivery address and they do it? Am I waiting in front of the correct service counter?). And the person behind the desk never seems entirely competent. Today, I arrived with a 35 lb box and there were 4 people in line with only one employee helping customers (meanwhile, there were at least two other employees behind the desk who could have helped but paid no attention to the line of waiting customers). The only greeting we got was a shout from one of the workers, "Is that a pre-paid package?" If not, you continue to wait in line, without explanation, despite the fact that there was at least one other service window available to handle additional customers. Because of the small and crowded space inside the store, there is rarely any convenient place to rest heavy items except on the floor (not good for older customers with bad backs or sore knees). No offers from the employees to help someone carrying a heavy box. Just selfish indifference and slow-as-molasses incompetence. After waiting 10 minutes without the line moving and no acknowledgement that I was even there, I finally left the store with my box and drove the two minutes down the road to the FedEx store where there was no line, plenty of people behind the open counters to help, and a friendly "hello" as well. I will never use the UPS Store at Old Farm Shops again, I'm sorry to say. read more
