Steeple's Office Store at Prospect Avenue in Champaign, Illinois, is one of the worst business centers I've ever experienced. Their printing service is completely broken. You cannot print from your own device and are forced to use their single computer, which creates long lines. I paid six dollars and forty-two cents but was unable to print my document. If you try to send your document through their email system, you're often told you must return the next day to pick it up. It feels like they intentionally removed the photocopying machine just to force customers to spend more time and money on their computer. Many people, especially older customers, cannot remember their email passwords because they're saved on their phones or home computers. This setup makes the whole process unnecessarily difficult. The customer service was also very poor. One staff member stared me down and made me feel unwelcome the moment I walked in. This experience was frustrating, inefficient, and disrespectful. I came from Los Angeles and was truly shocked by the level of service at this location. I apologize for that! Let's focus solely on your positive library experience. Here's a direct take: I went to the library in Champaign to print documents, and I was blown away by the kindness of the staff. They helped me connect everything, and I ended up printing 5 pages for only 6 cents! It was affordable, easy, and a genuinely pleasant experience. I went there to return 2 items I purchased from Amazon, the first one i had in the box it was sent in and the person there took it out of the box acted very rude to me. the second item I had to return I couldn't find the bar code so I asked him if he knew where it is on amazon returns on app he said they only train us to get the code he said staples said that everyone knows where the code is, I went to ups store before and they helped me so if Staples doesn't train to help their employees to help their customers that is really sad. When I finally find the bar code to return, they scanned it and gave me the receipt, then I asked if I needed the receipt for the first return since it was done 10 minutes prior while I stepped out of line to find bar code, so I wasn't sure if it was both on that receipt. They were rude and acted like I was such a burden, lastly when I was leaving they said oh here is your box that they took the product out of and said I needed to take the empty box back with me! I have never seen this ever since I have been returning items. I will never go back to staples and I have expressed my concerns with Amazon. I hope the manager gets this and trains the employees to be courteous and helpful moving forward. read more

Hours are incorrect on the website. I drove 30 minutes in the freezing rain to go get something and they were closed... Hours are 8 to 8 weekdays 9 to 6 Saturday 10 to 6 on Sundays don't believe what it says on the website. read more

I have used this store several times over a long period of time. It used to be clean, orderly, well-staffed and well-stocked. Those positives seem missing the past few visits. On my last visit the employee who was serving as the "Customer Service" rep was the antithesis of that title. After watching me stand at the desk where customer service has previously occurred and where the sign bears that designation, this clearly unhappy employee finally decided to tell me to move around through the check-out line despite the fact that he was working in the same station as was designated for customer service. He was rude and even other customers were amazed that he was unable to turn 90 degrees to take my return and required me to go through check out. The store seems very poorly staffed lately and the only portion that seems to be working and staffed by people who want to be there is the shipping/Amazon returns area. Those folks have been cheerful and efficient and very helpful. I do hear the regularly stated "staffing problems" excuse and have to wonder if perhaps those who work there are not being paid adequately. That solves any number of issues with staffing. In any event this store is not operating well. read more

I cannot believe that this store is open. All the other office supply stores have left town letting them corner the market. They cannot keep their coffee machines running, it is almost like a McDonald's ice cream machine. You can never go in and ask if all the machines are running they have an excuse why something can't be printed. This particular day I went in to get a booklet made and two people couldn't figure out how to do it, they was going to call RJ on his day off, whoever that is. read more

Had a staples gift card that I received from my employer. Decided to update my home printer by buying a new one. Between the gift card, the sale price of the printer and the discount I received for using Staples online ordering for the first time, I got a $150 printer for only $23. The sweet deal was made better by a quick ordering process & the ease of picking up my printer. read more

It is impossible to order online and "Help" means "No help" online or over the phone. If they have what you want right there in the store, you can buy it. If it is something that is only sold on the web, forget it. You'll just go around in circles and then die. read more

Wow today's store experience left a very sour taste in my mouth. This is not the first time, whenever you call into the store you have to wait 20 minutes to get anyone on the phone. Today I went to buy an ipad air with the sunday promotion of 100 dollars off. I was told my an employee that corporate had notified the store that it was too cheap and that apple was upset with the price which is why they would no longer honor the promotion in the printed ad. I did not think much of this and went home and while reading forums on deals, tons of people at other locations around the country were buying it with the corporate price. I was then told on one forum that the corporate office is not even open on Sunday. I tried to call back and speak with the manager, after waiting 20 minutes and being placed on endless hold my phone call was disconnected. The one star is not because of this, but every single time I try to go buy something I run into some sort of roadblock at this store whether it is we don't carry that item, the endless wait time on the phone, and the less than helpful employees. I normally order from Office Depot and get my orders the next day. I saw that Staples had an external hard drive on sale, so I ordered it. Delivery was to be at the store on July 10. No delivery. Customer service assured me that it would be there on July 11 in the morning. No delivery. Now I am told by 3:00 today, but I am not counting on it. This place is the worst! read more

Ordered a Chromecast just before Christmas online for in-store pickup. I didn't actually need the item right then and I was busy with holiday stuff so I didn't go to the store until after New Year's. They decided to cancel the order after 7 days so when I went to pick it up on day 8 they wouldn't hand it over, even though they had plenty in stock. This is a very small item that they already sell in-store so there's really no reason to cancel anything, except their price went up, and they wanted to charge me the higher price. I did not want to pay their higher price so it just became a huge waste of time. read more

This is a solid office store - great selection, high quality, everything from binder clips to printing paper to desks and chairs to bulk size pretzels. The price is the same as Office Depot or Office Supply Store, etc. Worth it if you get the brand-name, high-quality products. I would suggest staying away from the Staples brand name, though. Those products are the same quality as what you could get at a wholesale store (eg, Meijer, Wal-Mart, Target), but you'll pay way more at Staples. Examples that I have fallen trap to: highlighters and binder clips. Highlighters ran out of ink just as quickly as Meijer ones, and the binder clips were exponentially more expensive as the sizes went upward of 1". Nonetheless, I have a good time in this store. I hate to call anyone out but Shelby working the print station was ridiculously rude, and for no reason. Every question I asked was met with a snarky response and she made it clear I was wasting her time. At the end of everything she refused to help me print my 7 photos because she was leaving in an hour and it would take too much time.. disappointed with this store. read more

Amber is amazing!!! After realizing we needed more color copies for our payroll presentation we ran over to Staples. Amber helped us pick out the right paper and did our copies right on the spot even though she had a ton of orders to fill. Thats fantastic customer service!!!! Prices are kind of on the high side but they get 4 stars for their customer service. Recently I found a desk chair I liked but the sale ended on the 17th of this month. I couldn't get it by then because I had to make sure it would fit in my desk that hadn't arrived yet. A manager was very accommodating in letting me put it in hold through Saturday at the sale price. When I went to pick it up the employees at the service desk were friendly and helped me take it to my car. I was impressed with my experience and will be back if I can't find a cheaper price. read more

They are consistently lazy and incompetent. I have visited this location on numerous attempts to have jobs printed or spiral bound. On each occasion a job that would take less than ten minutes for the entire transaction has was refused to be done in a timely fashion. One order was dropped off and I was told to expect a call when competed. There was no call and I spent my day waiting for the order, only to see them complete it in minutes when I visited that evening. Today I was refused a job same day because other orders were ahead of me, but the person at the print station was talking with a coworker in another part of the store, only mentioning other projects when I asked if she could complete my order. I would give this place fewer than one star for their incompetence as well as lack of professionalism as when one project was completed they even failed to align the holes correctly, ruining the last fifty to one hundred pages of a project for me. This store is terrible and the employees are insufferable. read more

I prefer to shop OfficeDepot/Max but sometimes Staples has what I need and when I need it but it is almost always up to me to find it! I am maybe greeted 1 out of 10 times @ Staples, the lines at checkout are long, more and more items that were on the shelf now have a tag saying "available at staples.com". I have ordered from their copy&print store 3 times and all 3 times they've managed to amaze me with their lack of ineptness and excuses for their ineptness. I've ordered two graduation banners (printed in-store) and one self-inking stamp. Instead of me being able to pick up the banners the next day or even two days later, it has taken 3-4 days and the self-inking stamp was ordered 2 weeks ago. I went yesterday to find it but it took the copy manager to even locate my order. Only to be told my orrder "wasn't released - it must be a glitch in the system". No, no, it is not. It's lack of customer service and knowledge and common sense! With the exception of the computer tech guy who gets pulled up to check-out lanes, and about 2 other people in the store, there's a younger manager who tries but he's pulled in every direction - everyone else needs to be fired (including the older manager who scowls or stares blankly at everyone who walks in the door), to the entire copy staff and half the floor staff. It is no wonder bricks and mortar will be replaced by online shopping. We'll all lose in the long run but when customer service is this poor - really, what are we losing?!? read more
