I used fix it to replace an iPhone battery a year or so ago. They did a good job and did it very quickly. Recently, I had an iPhone XR that had a problem with the charging port. They claimed that they were not authorized to repair charging ports on anything newer than an iPhone 8. Considering the iPhone was well beyond its warranty, it seems very strange to me. read more

I can't say enough good things about Fyxit. Smart, dependable, funny, honest, sincere.

Avoid this place! They attempted to scam by telling me that I need to replace my booting drive but I declined, which is fortunate, since the booting drive is not failed at all. Brought my desktop in as I suspected my power supply is dead. The "diagnostics" was done for a while but nobody contact me so I had to call in myself. When arrived, they immediately asked me to replace my power supply for around $120 (interesting enough, I found the exactly same unit in Best Buy later with half of the parts price offered by Fyxit) as well as my SSD booting drive (a bundle with all sorts of unnecessary stuffs, data transfer, etc.) for around $250. I found it's a bit odd so I decided to just pay for the "diagnostics", which is 90 bucks, and took my desktop to my friend who is an amateur desktop builder. During Fyxit's rebuild process after I declined their quotes, my desktop was messed up pretty bad by putting the power supply cables all over the place. My friend successfully helped me replace the dead power supply with what I bought in Best Buy. During the process, he decided to test my booting drive and turned out the drive is not dead at all and I am currently posting this review with it. I am not sure the reason behind this act, either due to scam or human errors which are a big no no as they indicate either lack of ethics or lack of skills for this business. read more

I have been using EP computers for at least 15 years. They always were excellent in all respects: friendly, helpful outside their direct duty, knowledgeable, very fast, inexpensive. I highly recommend them for all relevant jobs. I don't know if they can come to your place. Probably they do, since they offer surveillance systems. read more

Not the cheapest place around, but why would you take valuable electronics to the cheapest place around? This business has replaced my laptop screen, and a faulty wifi card from the factory. I also had two phone screens break within a month and they gave me a discount on the second one because they felt bad, even though it was totally my fault. I went to the Champaign Green St. store today to have them look at my iPhone. Kendall helped me at the counter and within 5 minutes, he or one of his co-workers had completely solved the problem. Bought a new HP Pavilion, used it about a month and suddenly got a blue screen. I tried to fix on my own but the blue screen would go on too quickly for me to get anywhere. Usually go to Simplified Computers but thought I'd give Fyxit a chance. They charged me $65 for a diagnosis and their diagnosis was that I had a bad hard drive. I was dubious since it was brand new. They said they'd replace with a much smaller solid state for $185. They did advise that the computer was still under warranty and so I decided to give HP a chance. HP had me run a few diagnostic tests, found the hard drive working perfectly, proclaimed that Windows 10 had been corrupted and suggested I do a recovery, which I did. So far it's running fine and I have no reason to think Fyxit was right, or even in the ball park. Apparently Fyxit is good with cell phones and tablets, not so much desktops. read more

20 August 2015 Edit to respond to Fyxit's response. WOW is all I can say is I continue to feel violated by the owners of Fyxit. The response from Fyxit is just as contradictory and arrogant as they were each time I contacted them. Other's mileage may vary but with the vitriol demonstrated here in their reply, surely there will be others that feel just as violated when things go poorly - as they would normally do every once in a while. To me integrity is how a person addresses their mistakes, which in this case was poorly - very poorly. My review was truthful and honest - even to the point of NOT disclosing all the ugly details of how I was treated. By the way, Brendan knew when Fyxit posted this reply that I was out of town for next two weeks so the offer to replace my broken phone if I bring it back in seven days is just one more example of the arrogance here. ORIGINAL REVIEW: Really sorry to do a poor review but this was one HORRIBLE experience. Dropped off my iPhone 4S-32Gb to have the cracked screen replaced. Came back to the store a few hours later and Brendan (Owner) walks up to me saying he had bad news, telling me that because my phone was old, when the technician pulled the battery out he yanked a processor chip off the motherboard. He was very apologetic and offered to discount the repair and replace my phone or apply the value of my phone to a new one if I wanted - so far so good... though by looking at the YouTube videos afterward warning to pry the battery connection AGAINST the processor rather than yank on the connection I was not sure the problem was the 4-year old phone as much as it was a ham-fisted technician. Anyway, based on Brendan's sincerity I offered to pay the full price of the repair, including a new battery, since that was what I brought it in for. He agreed to get me a replacement 4S-32Gb and loan me a phone until my replacement phone came in - again so far so good...though the loaner was a 4 so none of my apps or the connection to my watch would work. And to make matters worse the only iCloud account I have associated with a 4 was from Australia 4-years earlier and I had lost access to all my contacts in the iCloud since then - not life threatening but REALLY a pain... A couple days later I get an email from Brendan saying they found someone who could fix my original phone. When I get in the store he tells me "we found a man who was able to jumper wire the connections of the chip and solder them back to the motherboard". I skeptically said that didn't sound as wonderful as the agreement to replace my broken phone, nor did he offer to pay back any of the full price I paid for the repair as part of the original agreement. When I asked what type of guarantee I would get on the "jumper wire" repair, Brendan proceeds to tell me some analogy of a car repair shop where I would may get some type of limited guarantee. When I pointed out this was not a car, nor a car repair shop, the co-owner Andrew, who by contrast seems VERY shady compared to Brendan's almost too honest demeanor, proceeds to tell me that he doesn't give out his secrets but that it was a 70-year old man who has been soldering for over 50-years - apparently a ploy to make me feel at ease since I am obviously approaching 50 myself - though it fell quite short if that was the intent...and with each word coming out of Andrew's lips I felt more and more uneasy. Bottom Line: I paid $110.00 to replace a battery and screen on a 4-year old iPhone 4S and to have it ripped apart and "jumper wired" back together...not a great business model if you ask me. But then I am obviously NOT the target demographic for this store...I came to them based on the wonderful reviews in Yelp and Google, maybe those were simple repairs or maybe my experience was an anomaly. But as a business owner myself, I offered to Brendan that he may want to pause a moment before speaking and think about his words from the perspective of the customer. read more

Had a shattered iPhone 6 screen. FYXIT team was professional and quick. Installed the new screen in about an hour. The service ran $160 which felt a little steep, however it was done well in an insanely short amount of time - and w/out the new screen my phone wasn't usable. They were nice and knowledgeable. Would recommend to others. In the CU area if you shatter your phone's screen, these guys are the way to go. Your other options would be to visit an Apple Store (closest one is Chicago), mail in your device and have Apple replace the screen (runs $90+ and you don't have your phone for a few days), or try to do it yourself (still take time to order supplies). read more

I've had two great experiences with FYXIT. I'm currently trying to keep my early-2011 macbook pro in the land of the living. I paid a fair amount for it in the eponymous year, and it's still snappy, so I'm not keen to replace it. That being said, the various pieces that make it what it is are beginning to give up the ghost. So, couple of months ago, I thought it was really dead for good. I went into FYXIT just to see if there was any hope, and they observed that the problem was probably a dead GPU. They also noted that Apple had recalled the GPUs on my model. They recommended I take my machine to the Apple store knock-off at the mall. I did so, the sub-geniuses there were reluctant, but they ended up fixing my machine for free. At that moment, I vowed to give FYXIT my ongoing business... A month passed, and I noticed my battery was no longer charging. I despaired. But, I also did a ton of research and discovered that it was probably a fairly cheap part. I *could* have ordered the part and fixed it myself, but I'd vowed to give some business to FYXIT. Also, the job would have been a pain in the butt for me, but it would be easy for them. It was. They had the part in stock and got my machine back to me within a few hours. I've been back in action ever since, and I've got a fair amount more money in my pocket than I would if I'd laid out for a new macbook. My vow still stands. This machine is basically the ship of theseus, but I like it that way. The day will come when a new machine is necessary, but I'm hoping to delay that day with the help of FYXIT. read more

I've used Fyx It once before when I shattered both sides of my iPhone screen. I was only going to get the front replaced, but they had an extra glass back piece with a minor defect in it and so they replaced that part for free! They also gave me a new home button for $5. Everything was done in a matter of one hour. I'm having some trouble with the volume button malfunctioning now, and it's nice to know I have somewhere local and trusted to take my phone. I had previously taken the phone to Apple where they told me they would have to replace the entire phone just over the missing home button. Save your $ and time and go to Fyx-It. I am so happy with my experience here. My laptop's hard drive decide it no longer wanted to be a part of this world. In a panic, I thought of this place and good thing I remembered it! I dropped it off, they said it could be the cable or the hard drive or both, gave me a quote, and I went on my way. They called some time later and let me know that the hard drive was basically useless and highly recommended I replace it and the cable (which I knew was having problems). They provided me with options and didn't treat me like I was an idiot (which has happened before at other stores). When I explained what I wanted in terms of a solid state drive, they understood and gave me what I asked with a new quote. They told me it would likely be two more days when all the repairs would be done and they would make every attempt to transfer all of my data, which I so appreciated. Then they called back a few hours later that same day to say it was ready to be picked up. They were honest with me and told me some files might be missing but the majority was intact. I even got a discount on the labor charge. The staff I interacted with were always friendly and genuine, and the quick turn around made my day so much less stressful. Would definitely come here again if need be. So lucky to have this store in the community. read more

I panicked and came here 24 hours later and they were able to fix it in a day and kept calling me every couple hours to let me know what they are trying to do. It ended up costing only 90$ total. I don't know how they could get many good reviews. I am very unsatisfied and upset about their service to my laptop. I have called them by phone to ask if they can check my laptop, they said yes, you can come at any time. Then when I was there, they told me they are very busy, need to take 3 days to check my laptop, if I want them to check it sooner, I need to pay $45 fee on top of $65 diagnostic fee. Okay, I need my laptop for work, so I have no choice. One hour later, they called me and told me to spend $230 on a new screen and plus $140 labor cost to replace it. I was surprise on this and asked them to give my laptop back. It took them more than 1 hour to assembly it. After bringing my laptop home, I found someone has installed a computer game on my laptop. Moreover, I found some scratch and deform on the frame. It is obvious that someone use force to disassemble my screen. Now I brought a new screen and going to replace it by myself. I have watched some videos and reading instructions on how to do it. I found 1-2 screws are missing, the tap to seal the screen is missing. I feel they are very unprofessional. They didn't handle my laptop carefully and assembly it back properly. I do not recommend. I brought a brand-new screen for $160 and $ 25 for tool kits. I fixed my laptop by myself! read more

I got a phone call right away with the status and the possible fix. They had even tracked down the replacement parts for me and had a cost estimate ready. They went to great lengths to ensure my computer was running well and extended an email to me to check up on any issues after repair. Brendan is seriously amazing! I broke my Macbook Pro Screen about a month ago and it wasn't too terrible, just wasn't pretty to look at. I checked a few places and was quoted around $500 to just get the glass repaired and decided it wasn't worth paying that much. Luckily, a few days after I broke my screen, someone in class saw that my screen was cracked and recommended FYXIT! I texted Brendan and he quoted me less than half of what other places tried to charge me. He was also extremely patient with me since I didn't want to get it repaired until after finals. I know that other places definitely wouldn't have been as patient if I told them that I wanted to get it fixed but in a few weeks. After finals, I dropped off my laptop and got it back within a few hours THAT SAME DAY. Other places I called said that they weren't sure when they would get it back to me. It was super amazing that he was able to do all that so quickly and so well especially since I spilled crazy glue on my laptop a few months ago (I'm totally accident-prone) and it got on the glass as well. I called them because my 4 year old laptop was really struggling along, but I really need it to last through college! Brendan came the next day to pick it up from my house, which was really convenient! He backed up all my files and cleaned my laptop up and it's running MUCH better than before. It was done in a day and I was able to pick it up the day after they took it. After I got it back, I needed help with something that had popped up on my computer requiring a key code that I couldn't seem to locate. But I called Brendan up and he helped me immediately and I was able to solve the problem. My roommate recommended the place because she knew someone who worked there. I thought it was worth a chance, so I just walked in. The owner was helping someone else when I walked in, but another employee came to the counter almost immediately. Everyone was patient and understanding and very polite. They ran a quick check on my phone to see what was up, and they said it looked like it would need a replacement part. They said one hour, fifty bucks, so I just went downtown and waited and when I came back, my phone was totally fixed! They even did a little bit of extra work that I didn't ask for, and did not charge me for it (there was a dent in the phone they got out for the most part). While they we not able to fix the issue, they did notify my of an Apple recall that actually saved my over $600 in repair fees. Before I get into the negative review, Fyxit is great, definitely professional when handling electronics. Probably the best place for phone repairs near campus. For malfunctioned or damaged computers, they explain very well what the issues are and how to resolve them. However, the reasons for the 2 stars, I was very dissatisfied with the communication between the staff and me. I came in with a malfunctioned PC laptop, which it refused to power on. I came in for a PC diagnostic which is a process to tell me what the issues are and this diagnostic takes within 24-48 hours and costs $65 ($85 for gaming comps). With prior experience coming here before, I expected a phone call within that 24-48 hour period telling me what the problems are in the laptop. Instead, I never got a phone call, and I waited past the 48 hours. It was 4 hours past the advertised period stated in the website and by the staff. In fact, I had to give the initiation call to check up on my laptop. They responded and told me they are checking on it now. After waiting another hour past the deadline, they tell me that the motherboard malfunctioned and needs to be replaced by Dell which can be covered through warrranty. After walking in to pickup my dead laptop, I asked why my diagnostic came so late past the advertised period. They told me it was a busy period and started on my laptop right at the 48 hour mark. They also clarified that the diagnostics start after 24 hours or 48 hours, which contradicts the information provided on the website and the staff. These specific details were left out from the website and needs to be thoroughly explained. Also, when I came in the first time, a staff member kept saying exactly like it's written on the website, giving me a red sign that some staff members don't know the specifics of the 24-48 hour diagnostics policy or at least how to communicate that information to the customer. Also, the fact that I never got a phone call stating that it was a busy day or that my laptop will need "more" time. So all this time, I never got reassurance. Especially in a service based business, I received a very disappointing service results as well as not getting my laptop desperately fixed (not Fyxit's fault but disappointing service + broken laptop = very bad day). Since I need my laptop for computer science as well as data analysis, getting my laptop malfunctioned at this time was unfortunate. However, waiting unnecessary amounts of time and receiving no reassurance just made everything than it should have. I sincerly hope that Fyxit can fix its issues in the future. read more

Fantastic service! I severely cracked my iPhone front screen late Saturday evening. I discovered these guys Sunday afternoon when. I was able to drop my phone off to them when most other tech places were closed. they had it done, ready to pick up, and back to new in an hour! Amazing! Brought my iPhone 4S in to have the jammed lock button fixed. They were pretty busy, and another part of my phone happened to fail during the repair, so it took a few hours longer than expected to complete the job. However, they replaced the part that failed during the repair for no charge which was very nice and HUGELY appreciated. And of course, my original problem of a jammed lock button was also fixed. Their price was comparable to other quotes I got, and they even throw in a little discount for U of I students. I recommend them! read more

Very friendly service, but mediocre work. They replaced part of the frame of my laptop, but their repairs warped the touchpad so that it is only semi-functional, to the point where I can't select text or right-click and I need a mouse to do anything more than casual browsing. They offered me the choice of waiting longer so they could try again or a mouse, but since I was impatient after repairs taking longer than they predicted, I took the mouse. Given that the mouse broke 2 weeks later, I should have waited for them to do a better job of repairing my laptop. read more

My Macbook Pro screen was faulty and unusable. The Apple store told me it would take at least 3 weeks, and that it would cost $300 for them to diagnose the problem, and at least another $400 to fix the problem, because the "geniuses" had no idea what was wrong with my computer. Brendan from FYX.IT looked at the problem for about 30 seconds, and told me exactly what was wrong, and exactly how he would fix it. Instead of waiting 3 weeks, I had my laptop back within a day. Went to Fyx.It because my I stepped on my friend's laptop (silly me!). I cracked the screen on her three month old Dell, and was very distraught because I was sure, after searching online, that I would be paying hundreds of dollars to fix a crack in her LCD. I searched for days to find a good, reputable place to fix the laptop. I went to the Tech Zone at the Union of UIUC and they quoted a very high price. I also called Dell and the quoted an outrageously high price as well! I posted on facebook and a friend recommended Fyx.It. Little did I know that it would be my new favorite, go to company.
