As I approached the UPS store, I was disappointed to see a line of people out the door. But... I had to mail a package, so I got on line. To my surprise, the line moved very quickly and within minutes, I was inside. Here's where I met Robert. With all the pre-holiday craziness, he maintained a calm and kind demeanor. I told him that I needed help in packing and determining the best way to send my item. I don't know what they were trying to pull with me last Friday, but they quoted me 218$ to mail something to France that actually costs 151$ via UPS and $28 to mail a normal sized box under 1 pound to Michigan. Staff not wearing masks on December 3, 2020 (and throughout the summer). This time, I asked the guy behind the counter to wear one, but he said he had a breathing problem and kept it around his chin. Insane. I had to be there for work, otherwise would have left. So we did this side dance, where I went forward, dropped my stuff down, slunk back while he scanned them, and then went forward to pick them up. Terrible customer service, my package never got to where it needed to be and when I called to figure it out, nobody answers the phone!

The store was supposed to open at 9am. I took an Uber and stood outside in the snow for 15 minutes with three large boxes waiting for it to open. The gate was down, but it was unlocked. I actually considered opening it myself to get out of the snow. 7 people stood outside with me, waiting for it to open. I called twice and it rang and rang. No one ever picked up. Finally a man walked up to the store front and said "you're waiting on me" with no apology, no explanation, no recognition that we were freezing while standing out in the snow. Upon entering, everyone piled in, including those who had just arrived. I had to bring my boxes inside in two trips. The line was long, and being the third person to arrive, I asked the group if we could go in order of who arrived first. The customers agreed, with the exception of one woman who griped that she was the last to arrive anyway. I was helped third in line. But the employee didn't offer much help. He just handed me forms to fill out which were confusing. I stepped aside as he helped others. I had to interrupt a few times to ask questions on how to fill out the form. When I thought I was done, he ripped off my receipt and said he'd take care of it. I said "you know which packages are mine?" He said he did. I left. But then returned because I realized he didn't ask me about insurance or the type of shipping. He had me put all three receipt carbon copies back together to add insurance. I left there wondering if he processed my order at all. While I was waiting outside in the snow for the late employee to arrive, I considered taking an Uber to another UPS store. I wish I would have. I would feel more confident that my order was processed properly. read more

I live a block away and this store been my defacto location for any shipping needs. I have been repeatedly disappointed. Once I unexplainably was asked to pay $7 to send a standard letter, but my biggest complaint is that they are consistently out of stamps. I don't know how a shipping store can regularly be out of one of the most essential elements of shipping. It is always messy and the store. Price Gouging! Rude! Not worth it! Go anywhere else to get your shipping & printing needs met. The guy would charge you for the air you are breathing if he could. He wanted to charge $1 for a piece of tape (literally, a 2-inch piece of tape), $3.50 to print a shipping label (really?!) He makes you wait while he's taping a pile of packages that are his busy-work (as in, was not a customer in front of me) On top of it, he was as gruff and absolutely rude as they come. I come here often for my shipping needs and have always found the staff to be nice (and if not outwardly nice, at least never rude). Today I came with 15 unsealed, unlabeled padded envelopes to send to 15 separate addresses that I had to pull up on my phone. JULIAN was so freaking nice and patient and didn't make me feel guilty at all for not having the resources to pre-package at home. The whole process was painless (for me). Hit and miss. It's a gamble - sometimes there are helpful knowledgeable people working there, most of the time though, they are slow and seem to not know anything about what they are doing. Which is difficult because when they don't know what they are doing the line goes out the door. Case in point: 1. First time - I asked for moving boxes and they gave me options and I was able to buy what I needed in 15 min. 2. I waited for 30 min. Most of it spent behind a guy who was either best friends with the guy working the counter or they hit it off so much they had to joke around for 20 min before the guys 2 packages got sealed and labeled. By the time I finally got to the counter the worker didn't know that they sold moving boxes. (Even though that is a big part of their ad campaign). He told me to move to the other line (that already had 5 people waiting, because 'maybe that guy knows.') I refused. Finally they had to call management to find out they sold moving boxes. The manager didn't know much, and could only figure out they sold two sizes. They were not the sizes I had bought before. The manager finally admitted he was guessing at the prices. Dear potential customers, there's a packing place right down the street across from spoonbill, they do the same packing and shipping services and are professional, fast and knowledgeable. Dear UPS, train your employees. Dear UPS marketers, nice try on a campaign about doing everything. Guess you just need to tell the employees you do everything. Or, your advertising is just a lie. read more

UPS customers with prepaid label: if you have a prepaid label and need to drop off your package, but don't need your confirmation receipt. You don't need to stand in line. If you need your confirmation receipt then stand in line. Don't be that idiot customer who stood in line and gets mad because someone knew not to stand line just to do a drop off. I went here yesterday to return a few packages and I will never be returning again. I've done the "The UPS store drop-off - no box or label needed" option before at other stores. You hand you bagged item over, they print a label and stick it on and give you a receipt. Not this guy! (His name is Jay) He proceeded to fling receipts AND labels AT me, rushing me as I went along. I was so confused by what he was doing. With Amazon's new package-less and label-less returns The UPS store is supposed to label the items for you so of course everything was out of order because I didn't expect to be receiving labels. He apathetically informed me there was no way to check which label went on which item, I'm sitting there panicking because I don't want my returns to be lost or denied. He starts to help the next customer!! This guy is unbelievable and clearly hates his job. I took my items back to go to another location but for the packages I did leave I'm worried they will not be sent back to where they belong :( Avoid this location at all costs! The employees are lazy and unapologetic dicks. The store is too small to ship anything bigger than a toaster. Your employees are not aware that you "ship items of any size." They turned me away as I walked in the door with a huge box, saying "Nope, that's too big. Nope. You gotta go." And they will charge you. for. everything. Packing tape. Peanuts. Knife. Had the exact same experience as Adam G: we were told that our box was "too big" and sent packing back to our house to call for a pick up that will cost $ and time waiting around for the UPS guy. We were shipping a 27" monitor to Dell. Judging by the fact that they accepted Virginia Z's 52" TV just a few months ago, I'm guessing that rule doesn't apply when they get to overcharge you for packing material! Unless you must absolutely use UPS, go Office 11211 around the corner. I'm honestly baffled by the malaise pervading most of the reviews of this place. The employees I've come across in the last 2 years are laid back, but never rude or incompetent. I've never had an issue with anything I've shipped here. It's relatively small and generally uncrowded compared to many other shipping centers in NYC, which makes the experience faster and less stressful by comparison. Yes, UPS certainly overcharges for boxes and shipping materials as do most other major shipping companies. I'd recommend getting a box (and definitely tape) somewhere else. Save and reuse your boxes if you can find the space. Then come here and get what you should expect from a UPS- reliable shipping. Nothing more, nothing less. read more

We shipped a GIANT 52 inch tv from this location. We brought the TV into the store and had the guys pack and ship it for us. The guys were nice and helpful and it was a Saturday!! We were concerned because it was a big ticket item but so far so good! The TV arrived at its destination in one piece and working fine. The receiver said it was packed really well and traveled good. We would definitely use this store again for shipping. read more
