So I bought a wedding gift for some friends of mine at a New Hampshire crafts fair. I was just under the unofficial one year anniverary deadline for wedding gifts, so I thought I was all set. But the problem is I didn't factor in my laziness. Months later, I realized I hadn't gotten around to packaging and mailing the gift. It was a big vase and platter, which means I needed bubble wrap and packaging peanuts, a large box and tape. Then I would have to go to the post office, stand in line forever to mail it, and hope it got to the destination. Instead, I decided to give the UPS Store a try. Wow. I love this place. I wandered down with the vase and platter still in the shopping bag. No line, I just walked up to the counter. I gave them the items and the address, they weighed them, told me how much it would be, I paid, and Bob's your uncle, I was done. They took care of all the packaging, the shipping, it was insured and they provided a tracking number, so I knew exactly where it was at all times. My friends received the gift safe and sound (only 18 months after they actually got married). And for all this convenience, it was actually CHEAPER than the USPS would have been. I paid $13 for the whole thing. The post office would have been $11 for the shipping, not including tracking or insurance or the packaging material. read more

Walked 20 minutes in the cold and rain to be met with a sign saying "no power, we can't accept any packages" despite the internet stating that they're open. That's time I'll never get back. Maybe call them before you go because they don't care enough to update their hours online. read more

There's been two separate times I show up during the posted business hours (posted online and on the door) and they are closed. Very inconvenient read more

Excellent service and kindness from the young man at the counter ! Very helpful and prompt and answered all my questions.

don't go here for notary. I was told by state department it was done incorrectly which resulted in a last minute rush for me to find a different notary. this was after I suggested certain language be included, but the notary dismissed what I was saying and said it wasn't necessary. turns out that it was. I trusted her because I figured she's certified and knows more than I do. read more

One of the worst customer service I've ever experienced, and to be honest, I don't know if they would even change at all after reading any of the flooding complaints. The worker was clearly a student at Boston College, and as a fellow student, I felt second-handed embarrassment as she was wearing a BC sweater. I understand she might've had a bad day and I don't expect her to put up smile, but there is bare minimum being respectful to people which was lacking. I've never wrote such a complaint, but I think this is a serious issue which should be addressed by the HQ or something. read more

Rude customer service! They better watch out. I wasn't able to get an explanation of their service(s). I was told that "I have a line right now." I said "I understand that!" Am I not a customer who waited for his or her turn in that very line? So to hell with them! read more

Ran in at 4:45 on a Saturday with an important package knowing that the place closed at 5:00. Was told that she "was closing the register and no more parcels would be accepted." We'll forever take our shipping needs elsewhere. read more

Thanks for the tip Joe, but really, it should not cost $5 for them to hold your package. UPS is incredibly frustrating as a recipient, and their customer service is horrible. Their JOB is to get you your package, they should let you have your package delivered to a UPS store for FREE. In the first place, they should make *much* more of an effort to get your packages to you at your door. If you work between the hours of 9 and 5, you probably will not get your package unless you take a day off to wait for it-- or drive an hour to go get it, or apparently, pay a fee to get it at their Store. Unites States Postal Service has pick up for free. read more

This UPS carrier has allowed strangers to sign for a combined (my room mate and I) 3 packages to our apartment. Or he signed? Who knows who signed- but they had a signature....with my full name. It was not my hand writing or my room mates...but it has the correct spelling so someone obviously took time to copy it down. Twice we were home, upstairs, when the delivery came. Did anyone buzz our apartment? No....the packages just were mysteriously signed for. Hundreds of dollars worth of clothing-including some sweet concert tickets- someone made out nicely. Recently I was home during the day, and my apartment was buzzed. I went down, and it was UPS.....NONE were for me or my unit...so I went back upstairs. When I came back down later they were all left in the lobby. Is it common practice to just buzz and have whoever comes downstairs sign....and then let me deal with my stolen packages? My co worker is dealing with the UPS that is lcoated in Roxbury right now, having the same exact issue. A fradulant signature with her full name. What does UPS do about it? Well they say they are doing an investigation! I have nto heard since September about the investigation into my $250 concert tickets. Luckily Stub Hub's customer service took care of the tickets for me (great customer service) but everytime I speak to UPS' customer service they seem to care less....clearly. Needless to say I try to choose other methods of delivery, FedEx, USPS, and they things delivered to my job. read more

This place is EXPENSIVE! $1.20 for a stamped envelope (that's a 100% markup!)??? $3 just to touch the computer? NO WIRELESS PRINTING???I sent two posters by UPS ground. It cost over twenty dollars (another 100% markup over the post office) Wtf??!? All supplies are overpriced as well. This place is a money sponge dying to take whatever money feel like burning to give to them. The staff is fine, (though the older man with gray hair and glasses is rather brusque at times "You need to go, we are closing!"(actually he's a jerk now that I think about it)) it's the prices that scream gouging. Protip: Go to Staples, it's cheaper and easier. Don't even drop off your Amazon returns there, just use a UPS Dropbox. If you have a car, don't even bother coming here. Ever. read more

So this store gets an abysmal recommendation. I went in to return an Amazon item that was smaller than a shoe box. At the UPS store I've gone to in the past, they were always willing to tape up the box so I thought nothing of doing the same thing here. The attendance who I know was just doing her job tried to charge me a $1 for tape or said I could purchase an entire roll. I know these are franchised locations but how cheap can you get? $1 for 3 inches of tape? Spare me. I recommend going literally anywhere else for all your shipping needs. read more

New management has really vamped up this store! The employees are affable and helpful. They offer a lot of options. My husband and I used them for their notorary service today and then we faxed our documents. Dominic, the friendly manager, made sure that the documents were successfully sent. Fantastic customer service! read more

Since my busy work schedule caused me to lose track of time, I used this UPS to send my dad some presents for father's day. I ended up paying around $40 to have my package shipped to him. The UPS store failed to send the package to my father by the date I had been guaranteed. Furthermore, the UPS store only notified me of this AFTER I had to call THEM since my father told me he had never received my package. The UPS store then refused me a refund. So, not only has the UPS store failed to sent a package to my father by the time I was told it would be received, but they also failed to notify me of their mistake or give me a refund, some guarantee. I'll NEVER use this UPS store after finding out the hard way how unreliable they are. read more

I was assisted by Lynne- a package of mine sent via ground shipping had gotten delayed by 9 days to the final destination (was lost twice, filed for investigation, incorrect information via tracking, etc.) and Lynne went above and beyond to make sure she found where the package was, and fought hard to get me a refund. Couldn't get it not for a lack of effort, more of a weird holiday mail system. She was kind enough to give me a discount on my next shipping in lieu of that. Highly recommend going through this location! (bad reviews might be from previous management- it's changed three times to my knowledge in a relatively short amount of time) read more

I can't decide of the strange older man who is always working in here - who we lovingly refer to as "the soup nazi of document services" - earns this place an extra star, or knocks it down by one. He's impatient and angry, but really funny. Anyway, the UPS Store has a fax machine, so they are very useful to me the two times a year that I have to send a fax. Also, their prices for shipping seem to be about on par with what you'd pay at the post office. read more

I paid a premium (about $100) to have something PROFESSIONALLY packaged and shipped I expected that it would arrive intact. When my package did arrive, the box was falling apart. Undoubtedly, it had like been handled in a very rough way. The damaged box was reported to the driver and witnessed by the person who received it. I called to complain and was told that it was not their problem. That as long as my stuff got there in one piece, they did their job, and that they do NOT guarantee the box?! Moral of the Story: NEVER PAY UPS TO PACK ANYTHING! IT IS A WASTE OF GOOD MONEY. A third grader would do better. Also, don't waste your time calling the UPS corporate headquarters, as they will tell you it's not their problem, but the "franchisee", as the store is a franchise. No accountability, no shame. read more

I literally get anxious every time I need to go to this UPS store. The only reason I go to this one is because it is the most convenient. The only reason I go is to drop off pre-packaged envelopes that are ready to be shipped. All the guy there needs to do is scan the barcode and hand me a receipt. This takes all of 30 seconds or less. The man who is always working there (gray hair, glasses) will never greet you as you come in or even acknowledge you if he is helping someone else. He never says "I'll be right with you" or even makes eye contact. He will never take 30 seconds away from what he's doing to take my envelope so I can go on with my day. I always end up in this store several minutes longer than I should be in there. It angers me. That's all. Rant over. read more

I opened an account with the UPS Store on 1293 Commonwealth Ave, near Boston College. The issue I have with the store is their lack of accountability on packages that arrive for customers (e.g. me). On opening my account, I was informed that I would receive an email anytime a package arrived for me. Nice idea, considering I don't live that close to the store. There have been a host of issues regarding their email system, but they always have an EXCUSE for their lack of accountability. I placed an online order and was informed from that company that my package had arrived at the store. I waited a few hours and then called the store to ensure that my package was indeed there. My FIRST call: "No sir, your package is not here". OK, so I called the company from which I ordered my item and they assured me that it was delivered to that store, that address. My SECOND call, about 5 minutes after my initial call to them (a different employee): "Yes, your package is here". When I asked why the discrepancy in what I was told literally 5 minutes prior, the employee acted like he could not hear me. When I finally got him to answer, he said he couldn't speak for the "other guy" and hung up the phone. I called back immediately. On my THIRD call, the first employee answered. I explained that the employee with whom I JUST spoke had hung up on me, but he DID let me know that my package was at the store. "No sir, it's not here". Really, YOUR employee JUST told me that my package had arrived, AND the company that shipped it sees that it was delivered. Would you please check again. Oh, yeah, here it is. Sorry about that. It is here" I let that pass, but on asking on why the second employee hung up on me, "Sir, I can't answer to that". You should speak to the owner." He was nice enough to provide the number where the owner was at that moment. I called immediately...voicemail, but left a detailed message. No return phone call. Next day, I went to pick up my package and the owner was at the store, actually behind the counter, waiting on customers. When I realized that she was the owner, I asked if she had received my phone message from the prior day. "Yes, but I want my manager to deal with that". I thought that was quite odd...why would the owner NOT want to hear directly from her customer, me, about what my complaint was about. I asked if her manager would call me, and she said that she would make sure the manger, Lynn, called me. Lynn DID call the next day and upon telling my complete interaction with her store, she assured me that the situation I described NEVER happens, so that was just a freak thing (paraphrasing). When I explained that I did not have confidence that the store was not providing the service they described, and that I expected, she said that I should stop by the store and talk about closing my account! I immediately ended that conversation. My contract with them ends in less than a month. I WILL NEVER USE A UPS STORE AGAIN! read more

I don't know about the people mentioned in the other reviews, but I was helped by a patient young man who was very knowledgeable about the options I had. We trusted him with packing and shipping 2 large, framed (with glass) lithographs from Brighton MA to California. It was not cheap, but they did such a great job packing properly!!! We are very happy to have our sentimental prints arrive with NO PROBLEMS!!! Thank you. read more

After searching for hours the best way to ship 15 large boxes from Boston to Austin my daughter spoke with this UPS store location. Not only was their customer service exemplary but each person we dealt with was professional, kept a smile on their face (even when having to carry many heavy boxes) and went above and beyond to ensure what we thought would be a very stressful experience was one of ease. It takes service that is extraordinarily abusive for me to spend time writing a review, but my encounter with the UPS store near BC (2193 Comm Ave) rises to the occasion. I am pressed to remember a store owner (Dominick, I was told) who was as abusive, arrogant, and angry or service so unfriendly and discourteous. I brought a fairly small box for shipment back to an e-retailer with a prepaid UPS tag. The corner of the box needed resealing, so I asked if he could run a small piece of tape across it, since his tape dispense was sitting one inch from the box. The taping would have taken (with no exaggeration) a few seconds. He told me (with a level of arrogance I have seldom experienced) "no," and that I would have to come back or buy roll of tape (at about $4.00-5.00) and seal it myself, because the shipping was pre-paid. He was telling me this as his employee was sealing up a box right next to mine. So, I bought his tape, used a few inches of it to seal the box (I did ask he was planning to charge me for using the scissors). He asked if wanted a receipt for the drop off, as if that was an extraordinary request. His attitude suggested that it should be a privileged to use his store. What I found stunning was that a simple ten second gesture (that by the way is not a problem at FedEx stores or the Post Office) was not only outside his policy, but he took delight in enforcing his rules. He did not seem to care if I came back or not. Obviously he never uttered the phrase, thank you. I called UPS, just to give them some feedback. They were appalled, apologized, and referred me to the corporate office for the UPS stores. That office apologized and actually offered to refund the money extorted from me from this not-very-customer-friendly store. They said that this is NOT the typical behavior and attitude of UPS stores. At a UPS store, we want only two things: (1) to get a packge from point a to b reliably and (2) to be treated with courtesy and respect. This store's failure rate was 50%. Frankly, if there ever was a problem with a lost package or a special request, I am not confident that this store would be helpful. My advice: use FedEx or another UPS store, where you will be treated with dignity and not have to worry that the store's attitude is a reflection of its overall reliability. To save you time, the next closest location is 1085 Commonwealth Ave, Boston or 288 Washington St, Brookline MA .or 423 Brookline Ave or 258 Harvard St. FedEx is Coolidge Corner. Do yourself a favor and avoid this place ADDENDUM I append this note two days later. Just when you think it could not get worse, you find that it can. Last night I found, sitting on my doorstep, a UPS delivery... the same box that I dropped off to be sent back to a retailer. Apparently, the store is not only rude, but not terribly competent, because it failed to attach the shipping label that I BROUGHT IN AND HANDED TO THE OWNER OF THE UPS STORE. I removed as much as the old label from the shipping box as possible, with the next step of the store to attach the news label over the old one. They did not and apparently scanned the old label and returned the box to me. This now means that I have to either (1) take time to drive this back to another UP'S store and go through the process again or (2) pay $15 in advance out of my own pocket for a UPS driver to pick it up. By the way, since UPS and UPS stores are separate entities, the UPS Store will not waive the pick up charge, even if it their fault. They consented to refund the money, but I would have to wait around for a driver all day, pay out of my own pocket, and then they would reimburse me the $15. My time is worth a little more than that. The UPS Store corporate office at this point has refused to resolve this without it being an inconvenience to me. They are insisting I pay for the return shipment in advance. As an addition piece of humor-of-incompetence, I spoke with the retailer (Wayfair) today telling them the package would be arriving late. They could not have been nicer, but were confused and said they received a package in Rhode Island today with my shipping bill. The only way that could happen would be if the UPS Store attached my label to someone else's package. Sadly, that other poor beleaguered customer may find that his/her gift to a family member or the time-sensitive item that needed to be somewhere today didn't arrive. As a final note, I would bet that if the store owner sees this, he will post a response that will not be an apology, but may somehow find a way to blame the customer for this series of inept mistakes, making all this somehow, my fault. If it were one problems, that would be enough,. Two problems and I consider it a train wreck. I mentioned in the earlier post that at a UPS store we want only two things: (1) to get a package from point a to b reliably and (2) to be treated with courtesy and respect. This store's failure rate has increased form 50% to 100% read more

I wish I could rate this 0 stars. Don't ever go here for printing anything. The place charges you $3 as machine access fees apart from $0.15 per page for printing. AVOID this place! I bought a box in the store and wanted to pack myself to avoid the incredibly high UPS packing cost, but the old guy (who always work there) came up and told me I could not pack my box inside the store!? I have to go home or elsewhere to pack it. SERIOUSLY??????? Also he insisted on using a larger box (which of course cost more) for my stuff after some random "measurement" while the smaller box would work perfectly. I eventually bought the smaller box, fit everything nicely inside and shipped through USPS at a lower rate instead. read more
