The reason why I am giving this 2 stars at this point is because we came in on the last day (Saturday) before they closed up shop for vacation in 2 hours and it's not the place to get THE special pie. Upon entering the shop, I was a bit set back because I had conjured a lovely little bakery inside my head after seeing their website design. The shop is very tiny and looks like they have not had a renovation since the 70's. The selection was very narrow as we had originally wanted to pick up a strawberry rhubarb pie for our anniversary dessert. All they had available were apple pies and lemon meringue pies. We chose to go with the apple pie. It was only 13 dollars- no tax included. The upper pie crust looked very pretty, very flaky and shiny, but the crust left my mouth feeling waxy. On the other hand, the apple pieces were tender and the apple-cinnamon goo was also very delicious. I wasn't exactly "wow-ed" by this pie as I felt I could have gotten the same exact thing at Publix. However, I won't give up on this bakery and that I will try to pick up the strawberry rhubarb pie the next time we crave for a pie! read more

I have to tell you it's a good thing their pies are good and affordable because of all the places I do business they are by far the least friendly, least happy, least pleasant, least appreciative, employees ever. I would not continue to do business with them if it weren't for the pies. They have never once either on the phone or in person been friendly and when I order pies I order a lot of pies. I have been getting my pies from them since the 80's, never a hello, how are you upon entering, never a thank you, have a nice day when leaving, it's like you're bothering them doing business there. I picked up a key lime pie the other day at Bedner's and couldn't wait to try it. Unfortunately, it was awful. First, I like a graham cracker crust and it was a regular pie crust. That wouldn't have been too bad had it not been burnt and hard as a rock. The filling was creamy, but was way too sweet and barely had any lime taste at all. I have a serious sweet tooth and can handle a triple chocolate cake so when I say something is too sweet, it is sickening sweet. I was also interested in the fruit pies, but I don't know if I want to take a chance on paying that much for something that I will have to throw out. read more

It was my husbands birthday and he has been dropping hints for me to make him a banana cream pie so instead I searched for one already made. I personally am not a fan of pastries, less of pie crust until now!! First of all the whipped cream is amazing, so light and airy. Then the huge pieces of banana lay below nice and generously with a subtle cream surrounding them. Just the perfect amount. Then you get to the crust and remember at 47 I have never found a crust I liked until now! It is amazing!!!!!! Just a perfect texture and taste, there is no other word I can use other then amazing!!! I had very high hopes for this bakery. It had such good reviews, and I had a strong desire for a good coconut cream pie. I wanted a couple of individual pies, but they only had one. So I purchased it and it was very good! However, the place looked very much in need of a cleaning and organization. The dollies where the desserts were placed were overused and soiled and the desserts were sparse. The glass on the cabinets were not clean and the place was in disarray. I think appearance and first impressions go a long way. I wish the place had been as appealing as their pastry tasted. read more

Upper Crust has always had the most amazing pies. However, perfect pies will never mask an abusive sales person. I went this morning to buy a Lemon Meringue Pie for tomorrow. My request as in the past was that I did not want a refrigerated pie. In other words after it is baked put it in a box and do not put it in the cooler. Apparently this very simple request was too much to fathom for the sales person. She told me that she could not insure me that they would be baking new pies and if not I would be given one of the two LM pies in the cooler. Once again I told her that "I did not want a refrigerated pie." Things quickly escalated from there because my simple request was met with great resistance. I am sorry that this lady did not understand my simple request but she handled "me the customer" in an imperious manner. Sadly, I still want an unrefrigerated Lemon Meringue Pie. Some of the best pies in Lake Worth. I stopped in because my sister gave me the heads up about this place. She had told me that they had some of the best pecan pie she ever had. I had to check it out. The bakery was pretty standard there was nothing really special about it. Service was a bit gruff. There wasn't anyone else there but the attendant gave me the impression that I was bothering her. They had a limited number of pies for sale. Alot of the pies you have to call ahead to order. I made a selection of raspberry pie and a mixed berry. Both pies were miniature. I didn't want to commit to a full size one until I got the verdict on the actual taste. (I have commitment issues)Anyway, the pies were delicious! The crusts were buttery and flaky just the way I like it. The fillings themselves were fresh made not store bought and bursting with flavor. I saw this place as I was driving by and Damnnnnnnn it's been so long since I've seen a pie specialty shop. Yes ... go there! They have about 30 different kinds of pies and some you can get individually. However, it's a small proprietor that takes pride in things being fresh so when she runs out of something for the day...then it's gone. However, as noted and done you can order ahead. We went back the next day for German chocolate Pie & Banana Custard Cream Pie. Spend the $3-$4 more than Publix where the pie's are made on a factory line and go to Upper crust for there home made sole proprietor pies. Yum! read more

Stopped at Yankee Peddler on US One as we were drawn in by the Upper Crust Pies sign. We purchased the mixed berry. The filling is good, not gooey and not too sweet. However, the crust is very bland and the bottom crust was not quite all the way cooked. For $19, I expected more. The peaches were decidedly canned, the pie crust was OK but nothing special. I really didn't taste anything special about this pie compared to something one could buy at, say, Publix. Not exactly where you would imagine a pie shop to be, but what the heck. Decided to come in on a Wednesday afternoon, picked up a key lime and German chocolate pie. Key lime was good, nothing too impressive compared to other key lime pies I've had. My friend had the German chocolate pie. It was good but I'm not really a chocolate fan, so it tasted like a regular chocolate creme pie to me. The Dutch apple pie also looked good but we didn't get to try. The Upper Crust is a quiet little bakery that is family owned and serves a huge variety of pies! They are big on being fresh, so they only make enough for the day and then that is it. But that doesn't stop you from trying all of them! You can call ahead and request any pie you want and if you don't want a big pie, get a mini instead. The crust is delicious and that is saying something considering I never liked the crust. The fruit pies are made from fresh frozen fruit and the cream pies are a pudding like consistency. All taste great! My favorite so far has to be their French Cream Cheese which is just like a cheesecake, only better. If you're ever in the mood for a pie, I recommend this place. I stopped in the other day to try out the upper crust based on the recommendation of my co-worker. The menu was pretty big and the prices were decent, but when I went in they had a very limited selection. I decided to go with one of the apple pies, which looked very nice and freshly baked. After the first few bites into the pie my gf and I agreed that the apples themselves felt hard and and a hint of sourness to them. Definetely not what I was expecting. I purchased a peach pie from Upper Crust Bakery at Bedner's in Delray Beach. The box states 2 1/2 pounds each pie. That's a ton of fruit and the pie was heavy. The crust was light and delicious, pretty amazing since I usually don't eat the crust. However, the peaches were from a can, Smooth and slippery. Not very flavorful...I have heard people rave about these pies, so I was a little disappointed. I shared it with 2 of my neighbors....believe me, if those were fresh peaches, that pie would have been gone in a day! I will try one of the cream pies one day! read more

The only reason I went here (from the sign, I always thought it was a pizza place) was because a friend of mine freaked out as we passed it on a Saturday shopping trip. She said she had read about it ages ago as one of the best (if not the best) pies in South Florida. She had been looking for it forever and finally found it, so we had to check it out. I'm not personally a huge fan of pies, but I purchased a pecan pie since I was going to dinner that night and both my s.o. and my mother are big on pecan pie.
