Hey guys Pat S. here, So here's the deal. I see this club all the time and I always thought it was a Gamestop or a Zelda Fanbase or something. It's not. The Underground's logo is the Triforce from The Legend of Zelda video game series. It's a bad logo and they should change it. I already told all my nerd friends about this place. I told them it was a place that hosted LAN tournaments, so get ready for that. I've never been here, nor do I ever plan on going here. I'm assuming it sucks. Here's my proposal: Either change your logo to something more douchey (think tribal or a naked lady silhouette) to attract your target demographic of douchebags instead of helpless nerds seeking out Hyrule. OR keep your stolen logo and take the following changes into consideration... 1. The only drinks you serve are various potions and Lon Lon milk. 2. Only accept rupees. 3. Allow weapons. 4. Bathrooms are locked. Keys are hidden in chests. 5. The "dancing floor" is called Hyrule Field. 6. Use fire instead of lights. 7. The biggest asshole in the club is referred to as "Ganondorf" (this person changes nightly). 8. Everyone gets a sword. Let me know if you want to hire me to help convert The Underground into a cool Zelda club. I have no experience. Its a higher end low key lounge. I've been here many times and "a-ok" sums it up. The bottle service is nice. The music in my opinion is lacking. There's not much dancing but it's a small place. And I don't care. Just wanted to put that out there. I like when there's celebrities people don't overly dork out. Not overly cruise-y. But one could meet someone as well. I think that this place is sexist. And super selective at the door to a fault. Here's the problem I had: I tried to attend a fashion show that my friends were having. Wanted to go, show my support. See this club, have some drinks, fun, dancing, socializing. I RSVP'd for this event. When I got to the door, the doorman/bouncer there was unnecessarily rude. Dismissive & arrogant. Would not allow entrance to us. They asked me how many women & men were with me...because if I had more females, they would have let us in. I was trying to take out some people from Spain for a good time in Chicago. Well, NOT here my friends. This kind of treatment when going out is the very reason that I think Chicago clubs are so whack nowadays. We were dressed well, had money to spend, had RSVP'd, I don't understand the problem. I hope you are making enough money and turning a profit..."Underground" because, if you are not....you may want to re examine how your doormen at the front handle the "flow" of people into your club. I have better things to do on a Friday night, than wait outside of some hyped up-BS nightclub. Don't go here. This place sucks. They let women in like it's nothing but everyone else stands in line freezing for hours. Went here with my girlfriend and stood in line for 40 minutes with the doorman just saying "it's gonna be a while." They said "we are only letting people in who are on the guest list" but yet let girls in without them even saying a word to them. I understand that you want women in the club, but at the same time if you have an even amount of girls to guys ratio trying to enter, it's bull that they don't let you in. If you want a recipe for disaster---horrific, nightmare experience + extreme cockiness and attitude before entering the club/lounge then please indulge yourself. Two weekends in a row (don't know why we went back the 2nd time), we tried to get into this place. I even placed our names on the VIP list in advance and we were all females, dressed to impress and polite. The first time the bouncer was EXTREMELY rude and condescending and was thinking to myself...if he came into my hospital as a patient...(yea that would need a prayer) and additionally, sir, you are just a bouncer, please calm down with your ridiculousness! He didn't let us in even though we were on the list and when we even tried to pay he wouldn't let us in. Mind you, it was like 11pm...so it shouldn't have been too crowded at the time. The 2nd time, we unfortunately "had amnesia" and found ourselves at The Underground again, there was a different bouncer who proceeded to calmly tell us that, not only was our name no longer on the list, but "Our names were removed to put other people's names on there..." And to make matters worse, there was no logical explanation for it. He simply shrugged like it wasn't a big deal. Are you kidding me?! What in the world?! What's the point of putting your name on the list and showing up early in the first place?! Like, I'm not even from Chicago and can barely stand the nightlife in this city because of idiotic clubs like this place and bouncers/people like that want to act out of control. Whoops, my bad, the bouncer's job is the most important in the world. LOL...anyway, needless to say, I will not be returning to that poor excuse of a lounge or club...promise, if you don't get into/go to Underground...it's not the end of the world...smh. read more

I sent inquiries out to several of Chicago's hottest nightclubs looking to have a birthday celebration and was very impressed with the very prompt, professional and attentive response from VIP Host Dan Niebergall. His reply email was the main reason I chose Underground. Not only was initial contact thorough, friendly and eager to please , but Dan's continued communication in making sure we had a great time from the moment we stepped out of the Uber and arrived until end of night. Dan checked in with us periodically and made sure we were having fun! A gentleman at the door Morgan greeted us and kindly escorted us in. Our gorgeous server Alyssa was on point, friendly and made sure we had everything we needed. Even the Operations Manager Eric Platt checked in with us to ensure we were taken care of. The coat check and ladies room attendants were sweet, the security always very alert and especially protective. I've always had fun at Underground, but this time especially was stellar service. Music was awesome, danced for hours. Thank you so much Dan for your expertise and all the staff at Underground, who all treated us with smiles and utmost respect. I wanted the birthday girl to really experience Chicago's nightlife as this was her first time out. Me and the girls will definitely come back soon ! So if you're classy and want to have fun in Chicago's River North Club Scene, I highly recommend The Underground !! read more

I came to Chicago for a good friend's bachelor party. We had people fly in from California, Texas, and Canada to take part in the festivities. We had heard that Underground was supposed to be a good time and tried to make arrangements ahead of time by calling. At their suggestion, we tried to put in a reservation over the phone. No response. We tried following up a few more times via phone calls leading up to the big night. No response. Not giving up easily, we arrived at The Underground to try to negotiate our entry face-to-face, appreciating that The Underground is an exclusive (and likely expensive) establishment. We were greeted with "No amount of money will get you guys in here".. We walked half a block to The Hubbard Inn, where we were easily admitted (for some amount of money) and had a great time. read more

Utter disappointment. Maybe all the other times I've gone, I went on the right nights and/or attended the right events. Maybe all the other times never fell on a Saturday. Whatever the case may be, I have long held a positive view regarding Underground Chicago. That is, until I attended an event that was to benefit the Art Institute that took place on a Saturday night. The night started off well enough as far as getting in and to the right spot in the club, but the funky attitude from waitresses and bartenders was felt right from when we went to get our first drink from the bar. The woman behind the bar's tone and demeanor was that of someone who did not want to be bothered at all. Alright, we're going to ignore this and commence our merriment. We ended up partaking in bottle service and were have a grand time. The waitresses were attentive and friendly, that is, until it was getting close to 11pm (the end of the Art Institute event) and the person in charge of that area came to let us know that even though we should actually have to be up from the able by 11pm, she'd let us stay seated there until 12: 15. Mind you, there was still a way to go on the bottle. Ohhhkay. Let's go back to our merriment. A short time after 11pm, a waitress was instructing a person in our party of four to scoot further in to allow room for a bottle service party that had nothing to do with the event. And she wasn't being polite about it at all. I let her know there was actually a fourth person that was sitting with us that we needed to leave space for who was in the bathroom. She promptly told me they could sit up on some random thing. I promptly stood up and asked to her to repeat the bs she just said to me. She then felt the need to say "You only had this until 11pm" in a nasty tone. Wrong, we were told by your superior we had it until 12:15am so let me go find her and my cool before there's an unfortunate scene. You see, all that great service abruptly ended at 11pm. While Underground donated whatever to the event, and may feel like it's time for them to make money, the people attending the event still paid their money even if it didn't go into Underground's hands. All the attendees are still customers that they decided to host. They could end up getting another bottle, or could start buying drinks at the bar. They could come back another day to do bottle service. If your staff is going to act that way towards attendees of an in-kind donated event, don't do in-kind donated events. The person in charge that originally told us we could stay until 12:15 did have us moved over to another table, which was actually a better spot. However, I still didn't like the idea of coming at us as if we were some nuisance left behind by the Art Institute's event. I used to work in customer service for years, and the unwarranted bitchtastic behavior that was displayed was unacceptable. Needless to say, my opinion of the club has gone down drastically. I won't be returning and I'll be getting in touch with the Art Institute, so they can know how their attendees were treated after they left. read more

The Underground may well be one of the most overrated things in Chicago. Notice, i said things... which means clubs, bars, libraries, movies, presidents, actors, shoes, dogs... anything that has ever been overrated! The whole underground theme of bars in Chicago is so common, that it contradicts the whole attempt at being different from the rest. It might have been more catchy if they had called it Le Cliche, cos that's just what it is. The whole East-European, out-of-work construction-hat-model security crew that welcomed us at the door try to warn us away by being as rude and abrasive as possible, but did we get the hint and leave. Oh no, we had our names on the list, a fistful of drink tickets and it was already 2:30am and this was supposed to be the last stop. So we ignored the rudeness and waited for what seemed like 20 minutes for the guy with the almighty "list" to find our names. We finally make it past Inspector Sergei or was it Comrade Vladimir, head down the stairs, get our coats yanked off and 'secured' at the coat check and a waft of thundering music blows against us as we are ushered into what seemed overwhelmingly like a dark, underground tunnel. It was like the set of Demolition Man with a bar right smack in the middle. Anyways, we grabbed some drinks and joined our party. That took some work. We had to crawl through a multitude of sweaty, dancing bodies, whilst getting smacked and prodded by breast after silicon-filled breast. Whichever doctor is performing breast augmentations with a generous helping of sand mixed in with the silicone, stop it please. Motorboating should be a fun experience, not a code word for Guantanamo torture. And enough with the fucking military themed outfits that make the waitstaff and bartenders look like chicks from Girls Gone Wild, Team America edition. But, sex sells, so I get it, now maybe if you covered up a little, you wouldn't sweat so much in my drink. It was a decent outing, don't get me wrong. It's not like I had to wait outside for an hour or listen to horrible music, but i really don't get the allure.There is noting extra-ordinary about the club that makes it get all the hype. I guess if I needed to feel a fake sense of self-importance to counter my years of being bullied in high-school and never having sex till I was 25, I'd open up a bar and keep everyone out. But I don't, so I guess, to each his own! Its ok to make a club exclusive, but when you do it with such bold-faced, unapologetic douche-baggery, it kinda goes from cool to suck-it. Its not L.A., or New York. Your club is located in a fucking basement, not the Palms Casino & Resort. So if you actually wish do something to make yourselves worth being exclusive, I have an idea for Library Parties. Library party? Its really quite simple. Section off, an area inside a public library, walk around the rest of the library inviting 'WORTHY' people to come to your section. Worthiness is decided through completely arbitrary standards. Have at it. It's your section. Have friends on hand to help library visitors fetch books. Create illusion of exclusivity even though the reality is you're in the middle of a public library and anyone can do everything your 'section' provides themselves. Before people figure out the ridiculousness, whip out your book bag, within which you keep snacks, beverages, pencils, notebooks, (maybe even books the library doesn't carry) Have East European 'spotters outside the library to scare people from bringing their own snacks, beverages, pencils or bookbags. ZERO STARS! Probably the worst service EVER! Walked in here pretty sober around 2am with a buddy of mine. Ordered 2 Amstel Lights ($12). Gave the bartender lady $15. She must of thought since it was 2am I was black out wasted because took my change and threw it in the tip jar behind the bar. Granted I was going to tip the thief $2. I'm reviewing this based purely on a Google event hosted here, not on the normal club hours. The event ran from around 5:30 - 7:30pm. There were passed hor d'oeuvres and open bar. The food was good and no one complains about free alcohol, but here's the reason for 2 stars. The inexplicable way they ended the event. Knowing that the event ended at 7:30pm, the waitresses still came around at 7:25-ish for last call. Great! Drinks then were served to us around 7:30. Then apparently they were done. They did not want us there anymore and they didn't even want us to finish our drinks apparently. As soon the clock ticked to 7:30, the bouncers literally (yes, not figuratively) came around to kick us out. I don't get it. For what it is, this place is great! I would have never thought in a million years I would find myself at a place like this, but this weekend's bachelorette party got a bit cray cray if you know what I mean. After a beautiful dinner and a handful of just-standing-around bars we decided it was time to dance. Seeing that the line for this place was out the door, we were reluctant to go in, and not sure as to if they were charging cover. A man in a nice suit outside the door surrounded by two or three bouncers by the entrance asked, "Hi ladies. Do you have a table reservation?" Me being my completely ridiculously over confident sarcastic self, replied -- "Yeah, table for awesome..." Thinking he was going to tell us to get lost and that we were annoying, he replied, "I like you, let them in." In utter shock, he let us cut the line, personally walked us down to the bar, got us a round of shots, a bottle of champagne, and a table. WHAT IS MY LIFE RIGHT NOW? How did we get here? We were laughing so hard that my stupidity got us to where we were and began dancing the night away. The bride who is a bit shy, found herself having a blast and every time I looked over she had a huge smile on her face. We spent the entire night here acting like silly little girls and dancing the night away. I am so happy we went here and that they took care of us. If this wouldn't have happened we would have had a completely different experience, but it did. I can't recommend this place enough, especially for a girls night out! I had a good friend in town and we were in the mood to dance! We were at Rockit and asked one of the hostesses where she would recommend (I feel lame that I had NO suggestions and I live here!) She recommended Underground, so off we went. We walked up, and there was just a SWARM of people pushing toward the door. Well, what we figured was the door, seeing as there is no sign! (Am I proving my complete dorkiness?!) We did see someone who looked identical to Christina Aguilera in her "Dirty" days leaving...actually two of 'em! We waited around, til my friend, ballsy and wonderful, pushed her way up adn told them that there were two girls i our party and we got in...half cover ($10...cover sucks...). So we traipse down the stairs to the bar where it is COMPLETELY packed. As in, we couldn't even see any bars, just masses of people. We eventually found the bar, got ourselves some cocktails and began dancing... Only there's no real place to dance. There are tables for "table service" everywhere, and you can dance in the aisles. And get elbowed. And pushed. And hip checked. But rarely can you shake it without someone plowing into you. Bartenders were very friendly, music was great, but I doubt I'll be back. From the rude door staff to the weird crowd that looks like an train car carrying Forever 21 and FCUK crashed into them, I will not be back here. In theory, this place should be 5 stars. But sometimes the crowd inside can be very...attention seeking, and the bouncers can also be a little prickly. Some context: The Underground is the club where people go to be seen because it's frequented by C list musicians and actors. So, you can imagine that sometimes there's a little pretension going around. I came here with 2 other girls and 1 guy. We got in, but they kept the guy at the door for something like 45 mins - 1 hour. And let me say that downstairs was not crowded at all. Later they did let him in, and that brought the number of guys in the place up to about 10. Yea. The ratios are ridiculous. No one is really dancing, kinda just posing around their tables, and taking photos of each other with their bottle service. It was very eyeroll worthy. The only reason I'm giving this a three is because if you're nice to the bartenders, they'll give you free drinks, and when I came on a different night, the crowd was a lot more chill and the beats were pumpin'. read more

Tried to go here last week and the douche doorguy told us they were only letting bottle service people in until all the tables were full and then they would start letting in others. Mind you our group consisted of two very attractive guys and three ultra-hot girls. Sorry, I don't have time to play these stupid high school games to get into a club. Never have I encountered a problem getting into even the hottest most crowded clubs in Vegas, just walk right up and viola the doors are opened. And without having to drop a few hundred on a table. Imagine that! Underground, you're not in LA or Vegas, you're in Chicago so quit trying to be something you're not. First impressions are important. It will be quite a while before I can get rid of my first impression of the Underground: Some of the shittiest bouncers in all of the city. I mean why do you fucking want to lie in my face ah? They told me and my friends that unless we got a table or reservation, they weren't gonna let us in. Oh, every table was reserved. Therefore, they were saying to me and my friends in a nice polite way, "piss off!" I was talking to my friend on the phone who got in with two female friends. It was 10:15 and they were in and the place was...EMPTY!?!? It wasn't like I was trying to get in alone either. I know the code on the street...you bring some female friends with you. Our group had 3 guys and 3 girls and we were trying to give them service by getting in at 10:15? Ha~ our mistake guys. Give me a break... Honestly, I don't need to spend close to a grand for extra labor costs that go to someone mixing a vodka cranberry for me. Hell, I do bartending for fun...I can do that by myself and have in the past made better cocktails for lots of my friends. The Underground is better than that shitty ass lounge I went to in NYC where all 12 of my friends got in before the bouncer stopped me, made me wait for 20 fucking minutes, THEN made me pay $30 for cover without free drink, followed by shitty ass remixes of top 40 blaring in ears as I was constantly being pushed around in the small danky basement they had. No, the underground is better than that, but for me it falls into the category of "common" places where people pay a high price for not so good quality stuff. I know, some people like that. If you're with friends that you love hanging out with, by all means go there and get a table. But if you ask me, I always aim to have a night out experience that I want to remember and the Underground is just another stereotypical club (remember the skankiness+firecrackers?!) that is slightly better than the Mid. read more

We went to the Underground for a bachelorette, so we purchased bottle service. The hospitality of the bottle service coordinated was top notch, and very impressive. She made us feel like we were the only ones needing attention. After spending nearly $1,000 on bottle service, I was not happy to hear from the servers when the bottles ran out, "ok, now we're going to try and resell your reserved space. You can only stay in this area if we don't resell it." Ummm, really.? If I knew that aspect ahead of time, we would not have booked the place, and were lucky that the resell did not happen. She set a reservation for 12am and we arrive a bit after 12am and turns out they had sold our table at 11pm, The bouncers were pretty rude as well and told us "you're basically f*cked" I then emailed her and asked if she could do anything to accommodate us the day after and she just flat out ignored me. I've been totally pro-Underground for the entire 5 years I've lived in Chicago. It's always super live and the music is awesome. My friends and I get a table almost every time we go; it's so fun to dance on the benches and survey the whole club. The back room is my favorite - the DJ plays better music and it gets really crowded so there is always an awesome club atmosphere. Given that Underground is a super popular club, there are ALWAYS, without fail, thirsty people (usually girls) hanging around tables looking for free alcohol to drink. And yes, even at a table of all girls, random girls still try drink with us. No thank you. Usually the bouncers shoo these people away, but apparently they changed their policy and the table bouncers no longer "protect the table" (LOL) like they used to. Last time I was there, my law school girls and I were celebrating our law school graduation, along with a few of my friends from out of town. It was crowded and there were a number of girls that kept trying to drink the alcohol at our table. The bouncer that had been assigned to our table literally REFUSED to shoo the girls away. When I asked him he FREAKED out on me and literally turned his back to me like a school child every time I tried to talk to him - I've never been treated so poorly in my life. The bouncer told the "host" of our table that he would only take requests about the table from her, which was interesting because we were all paying equally and didn't have a "host." (What even is a host? We were just a group of girls out at a nightclub. Such a weird excuse on the bouncer's part!) As a result of the bouncer's actions we ended up involuntarily sharing a bottle and a half of alcohol with girls we didn't even know, it was insane!! To make matters even weirder, I was complaining about the bouncer on Twitter and the Underground Twitter account was like "hey, email us please" and gave me their email. I let them know what happened, and literally got no response for over a week. Of course I tweeted about them again because why tell me to email you and then not even respond with an acknowledgment? They eventually emailed back and said that a manager would contact me, but that was over a month ago, so clearly they were just trying to shut me up and stop me from tweeting about my experience. It's shocking to me that they allow their table bouncers to treat people the way my friends and I were treated. Shooing people away from tables is a routine practice at pretty much all night clubs across the country, but apparently not at Underground. If you visit this club and get a table, make sure to bring a muscular friend to do your bouncing for you! read more

I am giving 5 stars for their ATMOSPHERE and TEMPERATURE. it is really weird for me to give this kind of club 5 stars bc I generally am not a fan of velvet-rope, top 40's house music clubs. I much prefer the minimal fanfare, underground techno/deephouse/progressive house scene. So, in spite of the fact that my #1 criteria for going out (the music) is not the top priority for this place, i really enjoyed my experience here. this just goes to show that people will respect what you do, even if it's not their preference, if you do it DAMN WELL. It feels like XS Vegas! The energy is off the charts - everyone is there to have a good time. The LED wall behind the DJ is a very nice touch. Good job, renovation team! oh yea, and as i mentioned....the temperature. They manage to keep it very cool in spite of the crowdedness (but it's not tooo crowded)...you'll see that they've perfectly executed all the important things that make the club-going experience fun. note: it looks very difficult to get in. it's always teeming with people outside, even at 3AM. if you don't know anyone, probably go early in the evening for the best chance. i highly recommend it as a top choice to have an over-the-top bday bash/celebration of some sort. guaranteed great times! read more

I enjoy the Chicago scene almost every weekend and I can tell you from experience that The Underground is just a tiny, dark, rude club that's been hyped up for no legit reason. The lines are long (and although I'm a girl that usually gets VIP because of either table service or a short skirt), I still feel sorry for the people that have to wait outside of Underground, only to be ushered into an over-crowded hotbox with a mediocre crowd. Maybe The Underground was the place to be a few years ago, but it most certainly is not now. My most recent experience with the club was last Friday, when my purse was picked up BY CLUB EMPLOYEES, taken into the back room, and rifled through. I went to the employee area in back to inquire about my snatched bag, only to be made to wait ten minutes. When a bouncer finally emerged carrying my bag, I didn't think to check to ensure my money and phone were still in it, because I assumed security of an establishment would've had good reason for moving/taking my bag (maybe they thought it was unattended?) It wasn't until I was in the cab, that I noticed my phone and money were taken out of the bag. I've called five times to speak with management at The Underground and no one has bothered to call me back. I'm filing a police report today. If I were you, I'd steer clear of this place and go to one of the many other larger, less pretentious and dishonest, more fun clubs in Chicago (Epic, Vertigo, hell even Crescendo is better than this cramped hole in the wall). read more

Seriously place sucks because of security- do not have class and tact at all! We were buying drinks all night, dancing and everything was alright until short guy from security came and started to play "a big and though guy". He said you can't stand there but could not give a normal reason why a girl can't stand at the place where she was. The place is small and music could be better (mixed rnb). As for Chicago is alright. If this club would be in Miami, Vegas or NY - that place would suck. Change security! They do not know how to deal with normal people: trashy girls were dancing everywhere but classy people can't stand by the wall because "security guy" would not want this (without explanation). Raise your hands to talk to them. Sometimes, they give you the palm of their hand or even tell you in your face, I can't talk to you right now! Is this even a job? GET A JOB!!! It's like going to the Oscars! Put your name on the list, dress nice, come with a hot girl, look like you are rich....Sometimes you do all of that, and you still can't get in ? Why? Who are you people!!!? OVERRATED! Entrance is a pain: 1-Dressed nice + No name on list = NO GO! 2-RSVP + Bad hair = NO GO 3- Bottle Service + Friend is Not hot = NO GO. 4- Know the Door man = Grandiose Entrance! I had some good times here, but it's so freaking hard to get in! Why, I do not know. Maybe a way to keep this place as an "Underground" version of fun and good times. I am amazed at the number of under-dressed and drunk kids strolling this venue simply because they know someone! It's not fair. :) UNDERGROUND needs to come in the LIGHT and stop the shadiness. I plan events for a nonprofit located outside of Chicago and we recently held a fundraising event at The Underground. I cannot say enough good things about our experience working with Travis on planning this event. He took incredibly good care of us and bent over backwards to help us plan and execute a successful event within our budget. Our guests had a great time, we are so grateful to Travis and the team at The Underground for putting so much effort into our event, especially with us being based in another city. Bouncers are pure garbage trash humans. My husband and I went there after our wedding with our bridal party for a final hoorah. It was our understanding we were being let in when all of a sudden the bouncer restrained my husband's arms behind his back for attempting to enter. I was in my wedding dress and my husband in his tux. I was mortified and terrified. (We barely had time to have drinks at our wedding so this wasn't a drunken misunderstanding or unruliness situation). read more

The door staff are unnecessarily rude and it's just not worth it when you can get into other clubs that are more fun with better music.

We are in town on vacation for my birthday and we heard this club is supposed to be fun. I went on the club's website to get on the list and shortly after I got an email from Travis Allison (from his email, the manager) advising to arrive after midnight because they had a private party until that time. I figured all was good so my boyfriend and I got decked out for a night out just like we would for Hollywood or Vegas. We had an awesome dinner at RPM Italian which is right next door (omg...highly recommend it...food was delicious, but that's another review). About close to 1am, after a great dinner with equally great service ready to keep the night going, we stroll over next door to the club. There was what we thought was a small line no longer than a 5-10 minute wait but as we got to the ropes, realized it was a cluster of people. We patiently waited while the door men attended to the group that was there before us. Finally after one of the door men was free, I went to get his attention, only to have him walk away and IGNORE me (he was no more than 3 feet away from me). I looked over to my boyfriend who gave me that look he gets when he's starting to get annoyed. He then politely tried to get the guy's attention to no avail and then tried once more with a different guy. then both guys proceeded to go stand against the wall and talk to eachother...facing us and clearly seeing us standing there by the way!!! I've partied in quite a few trendy, "it" clubs with way bigger crowds and have never been ignored. After that my boyfriend and I decided this club was clearly not worth our time or money and headed to another club. I can't rate the club itself but this level of pretentiousness is ridiculous...it's expected in Vegas and Hollywood (where I'm from) but even there I've never encountered such rude, pretentious bouncers. Seriously dude, you're a doorman...relax..no need to be such an a**hole especially to patrons who are willing to spend money for a good time. read more

We planned on going here for my friend's 30th on Saturday, but weren't on the list to get in so we were told to wait. Half of our party went in while a few stayed outside. This was expected considering the type of place this appeared to be, but the doorman was a jackass. We politely asked how long we'd have to wait at the door (it was 10:30pm btw and no line), and all he could say was "Can't let any dudes in. No guarantee you can get in at all..." You f***ing kidding me?!? According to all of our friends who were inside, the place was fairly empty and there were more than enough female bodies in the place already. read more

Apparently a table reservation for 13 means nothing here. God bless my friends who came out for my birthday despite the Chicago tundra and my completely asinine idea to celebrate at the Underground. Although my experience here in the past has been pretty great (the club itself is gorgeous), the rating I'm going to go with is going to reflect how disappointed I am with the management this most recent time. I got to witness the man who rented out the place last minute present to his lady friend a shiny, probably new Range Rover. Ok place to hang out late in the night. I was there Wednesday night and I was too early I guess 11.30 PM. It comes to alive around 2 AM. Not too many people, may be weekend is the better time to go chill out. They have a cool screen . DJ was great. Good trendy music . Small dance floor. read more

I had my first Underground experience a few months ago, and I have been back regularly ever since. Okay, I admit it, I have been back almost every week since and frequently try to con my friends and coworkers (con = beg) to come with me. I always thought people were overselling how great this place it, but even if you're not super in to clubs, this place is a blast. Love the great DJs - the music is always amazing. Have you ever been out with your friends, and every song that comes on, you all look at each other and shout, I love this song! Yeah, that's what Underground is like. Except, way more awesome. Also, love the delicious alcohol - talk about a mean blueberry lemon drop. Although I hate whoever introduced me to these, because once I start I can't stop. And, beware that even if you go in with the best of intentions, if it is crowded one person in your group WILL suggest buying a bottle for the privilege of getting a table. In my opinion, it is worth it - you need somewhere to sit after all that dancing! If you decide to splurge on some champers, you will be rewarded with yummy strawberries and sugar - I admit, I usually snack on this instead of dropping it in my drink. This is hands down my favorite choice for a girl's night out in Chicago! The only reason I wish I could give this a 4.5 is that some of the doormen (not all, but some) take their job WAY too seriously. I understand it is cool that it's hard to get in - but seriously, the dude that looks like Harry from Spiderman needs to get a grip. Seriously. read more

I came here with some girlfriends, and my experience was definitely unique. We had to pay a $10 cover, which was annoying, but since the club was pretty empty at 9pm, I suppose I know better now to arrive later. The bunker theme is nice, but a little too dark for my taste. I could barely see where I was walking. We decided to dance on the floor for a bit before grabbing a table. Overall, I think everything is a bit hyped up here. $10 for a drink and $5 for a cereal bowl sized popcorn with a hint of Truffle oil? No, thanks. My biggest problem with this place was that I was mistakenly charged $223 for my 2 drinks that I bought at the bar. My heart nearly sank when I looked at my statement. The dilemma? I left the receipt at the bar that night, so I didn't have any proof that they had overcharged me, other than the receipt in their system. I had to make copies of my driver's license, credit card, and my bank statement as proof. A little over a month later of going back and forth with UG, and an email directly to the manager, I was finally refunded my $200. At first I wasn't happy at all (obviously), but Travis Allison, the manager was very polite and apologized for the error. Overall, the Underground is a bit hyped up, but would come back if I was with a group that wanted to come here. Next time though, I'm bringing cash. read more

As a general rule I don't review nightclubs because it was the womb from which I crawled out of a few years back but when someone or some company is doing something SO right, I have to suck it up and give props. I've been to Underground no less then twenty times and each time I have been treated like a rock star when I have made arrangements and when I have shown up on the fly. Christy, who handles VIP is one sweet little honey who will hook you up with the blink of an eye, so much so , I don't even bother busting out the big guns. I love the mash up music (songs you actually know have words) and the social element of the crowd, meaning that you are not segregated and there is NO specific dance floor. Service is exceptional, bar none and drinks are Almighty Awesome. I've never left this place with a bad vibe in my body and considering I am such a club identified person, thats saying something. read more
