Amazing experience at this property this past weekend. Check In: We pulled up in our Uber and the doorman was ready to unload our car. From the ground floor you head up to the 12th floor to check in. Coming off the elevator the entire lobby was decked in Christmas decor. Check in took no longer than 3 minutes and there was no line. When the front desk saw we had two kids with us they wheeled out a wagon of toys and let them pick one each. Room: We had the city view room that overlooked Lake Michigan and the Hancock Tower. It was picturesque but getting close to the windows allowed you to feel a draft from outside. I can't knock the property as it was in the single digit temperatures and we were 21 floors up. The beds were super comfortable and the bathroom shower had a great pressure. Spa: I did the 45 minutes pedicure with Maria and she was a delight. We chatted the entire time about her time in Chicago and she did wonders for my feet. I was having a hard time staying awake because it felt so relaxing. Breakfast: We ordered room service for breakfast and it was on par with other Ritz food. The hash browns and rolls were my favorite part of the meal. Since we were celebrating my birthday they brought up a complimentary macaron the size of my fist. Additional Notes: Our luggage was brought and taken instantly, usually you're waiting for an available doorman but not here. They also provided us a fridge and microwave so the kids could store and reheat their food. Logistically, this hotel has it all (even a way to access the mall without stepping outside).

I have stayed a number of times at this property, but it's been more than a minute. I think it's always been a Ritz-Carlton, but last time I stayed it was a Four Seasons hotel, even though there is another Four Seasons hotel just blocks away. The Ritz is fabulously located in Water Tower Place, one of Chicago's vertical malls, across from the historic Water Tower and on the Magnificent Mile. The first time I stayed here decades ago I saw Oprah in the fitness centre; she had (has?) a place in the residences. The hotel is very popular, especially now that Ritz-Carlton is one of Marriott Bonvoy's brands. For this trip I booked a room with Club access. The Club Lounge did not exist when I last stayed. Although the website said I could check in at the Lounge, that required key access, so I had to go to the Front Desk. After that all my interactions were with the Club Lounge staff, a stellar group of 7 who tended to all my needs and, most importantly, kept me well-fed. Note at this property, Marriott Bonvoy Elite Status does not provide complimentary access to the Club; it must be booked. My assigned room was on the same floor as the Lounge, which made for quicker travels to and from. I had a north-facing City View King, which had glimpses of the Lake, but mostly of the former John Hancock Tower. I could also see a bit of Mies van der Rohe's iconic Lake Shore Drive apartments. The room was spacious and well-designed. I appreciated the locations of outlets and ports, the swivel-feature of the lamps, the combo sofa-chaise, the fact I could put my own items in the mini-fridge without being penalized financially. In the bath I liked the nightlight in the shower and motion-sensored one under the mirror. The Club was usually an oasis of serenity, except when there were larger groups of travelers. There were many food and beverages offered, both alcoholic and non. Several sweet treats always available, plus famous Garrett Popcorn (but only their Garret Mix). There were 5 food presentations daily and I mostly hit them all. The breakfasts and lunches were ample and convenient. I actually skipped a planned breakfast at the Wildberry location just downstairs, and I LOVE Wildberry! The dinners, officially called "hors d'oeuvres", could stand alone as a meal, but Chicago has so many top restaurants, it is a nightly toss-up. I didn't feel so bad when I found out I missed a chicken entree the night I went to Michelin-starred Carino. A shout-out to the great Club team led by Jeremy. I also met (and appreciated) Tiffanie, Lupita, Alice, Eleanor and Natalia. Overall a wonderful and relaxing stay!

Happy New Year 2025! This is definitely the poshest hotel I've ever stayed at, with the most extraordinary staff- and I stay at a ton of Marriotts as well as a few other high-end hotels across the US. And New Year's Eve at the Chicago Ritz Carlton was as fancy and delightful as you could imagine! We booked four rooms that included access to the incredible Lounge on the 15th floor, which included free breakfast and dinner. Then we enjoyed another meal in the main dining room (paid about $80-90 per person) before attending the NYE party in the small ballroom. The live band had us up dancing and the food, especially desserts, was fabulous! The staff even provided us with NYE hats, crowns, and horns. The ballroom got quite crowded and we didn't arrive early enough to secure a table or seats, so we left after 30 minutes and brought dessert back to our room. We could view the fireworks at Navy Pier from our room and it was beautiful. My favorite part of the whole visit was the lap pool, so clean and perfectly heated with posh locker rooms and friendly staff. Every single staff member went above and beyond here!

The Ritz-Carlton is synonymous with luxury, offering exceptional service, elegant accommodations, and world-class amenities. It offers personalized and attentive service. Staff often go above and beyond to ensure guests feel valued. Rooms are meticulously designed with luxurious finishes, plush bedding, and modern , well-equipped fitness centers, spas, and exclusive club lounges The dining experience varies by property but typically includes high-quality, The hotels exude elegance and sophistication, with a focus on creating a tranquil and refined environment. Décor and architecture often reflect the locale while maintaining the brand's luxurious standard. I find the service and quality justify the cost

I came here with my fiancé for a quick staycation to celebrate our engagement. We were immediately greeted by valet and our bags were brought to our room. The staff were very friendly and we did get a room upgrade to the Anniversary Suite. It was great! The room had a very large bathroom with a whirlpool tub and his and her sinks with a large vanity! There was also an extra bathroom by the room entrance, it was smaller but still spacious. The living room space had a large couch a table a chair and a tv. There was a Nespresso coffee machine and a refrigerator stacked with water ,mini shots, beer, and water. It was definitely like home away from home. We were on the 24th floor with a beautiful view of the city. We enjoyed a massage during the first night of our stay which was much needed. It was truly a relaxing experience. I am looking forward to coming back and enjoying more of the hotel amenities.

Lovely north facing view with peak of the lake.

This was my first time staying at The Ritz but not my first time in Chicago. The location was great as it's in walking distance to so many great things including Stan's Donuts and the Starbucks Roastery Reserve. The staff here is outstanding. When we accidentally left a shopping bag near the valet stand, we returned the next day to see if they had it thinking it would be gone forever, and they had it, and brought it up immediately. The beds are so comfortable and our view was great. We could see city views and the lake.

I stayed at the Ritz hotel with my fiancé for a staycation. A really great hotel. Everyone there is welcoming, and the staff pays close attention to detail. I pulled up in front to valet my car and they took my bags out and took them to my hotel room. I had booked the anniversary suite and it was a very big room with two bathrooms, a living room and a master bedroom. I booked a couples massage and it was super relaxing. It's not a cheap hotel by any means but well worth the price. Very impressed by the service you receive by every employee at the Ritz Carlton. When I checked out, I called the front desk to have someone take my bags down to my car, which was a great help because I had a lot of bags between myself and my fiancé, only one was mine. lol I would highly recommend this hotel.

We enjoyed a festive afternoon tea at the ritz carlton this week. The experience was lovely. They have a medium sized variety of teas to choose from that span the gamut of white, red, black, blue and fruit teas. The finger sandwiches are yummy--the lobster was my favorite. The scones are also great. The festive pastries were both cute and delicious. We were full by the end! The space is also lovely.

While service and giving-a-sh!t is sorely lacking almost everywhere anymore, the Ritz-Carlton really makes you feel appreciated and valued. Everyone is more than helpful and friendly. Very refreshing! THANK YOU!!!!

Stayed here for the first time for a weekend trip and it was great! We got to enjoy the steam and sauna room in the spa facilities and the gym has a lot of nice treadmills and machines. It was also a very nice touch that there was a handwritten note and some very delicious desserts in the room upon arrival. The room was very quiet with a comfortable bed and nice bathroom and bar area with a Nespresso machine. They also have turn down service. We got upgraded to a lake view room. The view was ok, mostly buildings with the lake behind. Overall, I would recommend this hotel and will visit again next time we are in Chicago.

I wonder if that's the 'Ivy Room' of the namesake? We grabbed some drinks and enjoyed music, speeches and a special award. It's a nice space with seating, not just wicker chairs either but cushions! There were passed drinks and hor-durves, as well as friendly, helpful bartenders for those wanting beer, water or soda. One of us spilled something on a light-colored jacket, and they came to our rescue with seltzer and wipes. There was also a buffet with Spanish themed food (empanadas, paella) and small bite dessert bar. I asked about what had red meat/pork and thankfully I was dutifully informed. The caterers gave me and my party some leftovers! Not sure what prompted that but we appreciated it(we tipped even on free drinks). The missing star has to do with the wine. It was AWFUL! I tried to break it up with beer, but I got so sick the next day, I had to cancel my evening plans. I probably over indulged, but I have had more wine in one sitting with way fewer side effects. I may just stick with beer next time.

Will sitting in the window, drinking bubbles, I watched the boats going in and out of the locks, I declared in a loud voice to The Doctor that I wanted to become the lock operator. Well if that job doesn't come through, operating the gears to raise the bridge is my new one. I have lived in Chicago all my life, born and bred, and I am a lover of all of the bridges in our town. I had no idea about this museum. It is down on the riverwalk on the Chicago River. The first time The Doctor and I went, it was by accident that we discovered it during one of our staycations. The museum is a five story building. There is no specific fee to enter, but they do take donations. Each floor is filled with historical goodies about the bridges, gears, mechanisms, etc. At river level, The Doctor and I geeked out as we are gears heads. We were able to see the gears that are responsible for raising the bridge. Imagine our surprise to discover that the engine, named Earle, that operates the bridge is kind of like a 1950's Volkswagen Bug. Hearing that made me think of the first time I went to the Museum of Science and Industry to discover that Man went to the moon in something that looked like a washing machine and was operated by computer was didn't even come close to the power of my Samsung phone! But being a gear head, I know that the counter weights literally do the heavy lifting. It was cool to see the lower street levels through the gaps in the structure. Once we got our fill of viewing the gears, we made our way up each level to see the various artifacts and historical musings about Chicago and the different types of bridges in the city. Be prepared to get in some steps (wear your Fitbit or favorite tracker). It was a very interesting visit and I learned a lot about our history with the bridges. Upon leaving, we discovered that the museum does tours of the bridge raising, so we made an reservation to attend. Tickets were $15 each and we were told to arrive at 9:15 am. First thing I discovered during the tour was that there are people in various positions in the gear area as well as the lower sections of bridges. Once the bells went off, Earle started roaring and the gears started turning. It was so cool to see the gears turning and watching the lower section of the bridge for Lower Wacker go up! Once the bridge went up and the gears stopped, The Doctor and I made our way upstairs to see the bridges in the air. It is an interesting process as one bridge at a time goes up and the next one doesn't go up until the other one is in place. So it was cool to see the State Street bridge go up next and watch the Michigan Ave bridge come down. This is not an experience that I would have normally planned for an early Saturday morning, but it was so much fun and we really enjoyed it. The tour season is over as October 25 was the last viewing, but I would highly recommend that once the museum starts the tours again, make a reservation to go and see the bridges go up and down. It was truly magically for us.
