If you're in the Thrifting mood and don't know exactly what you're looking for, this is a place to go. There are so many things to look at and the way it's set up is like a curio shop. There are little corners and little turns, and there are things and items all over the store that your head is constantly on a swivel. Even when you think you saw everything, I'm pretty sure there were spots that you probably passed up. Some of the items are old that it brings you back into time and makes you curious about where the items were collected from and whom it belonged to at one point. Old photos that are still in the frames and dolls with their unblinking eyes are super creepy to me. Nevertheless, it's worth checking out even if you don't buy anything. I was looking for brooches and holiday decor that I can add to next year's decorations. I did find some, but nothing that really made me wanna spend money on. read more

It was an accidental find. I found myself across the street for an errand when my eye caught their window and thought, "let's check that place out." Jumped and hopped over across the street to satisfy my curiosity. Most of the items they have are used and/or most likely donated. There is plenty to look at but nothing that caught my eye. There is a wide variety of items for sale (clothing, shoes, paintings, toys, furniture, etc.) Some, however, are dated and required much needed maintenance. Most must have been there for some time because a lotta items had thick layers of dust. Some were also priced kinda steep. ($3 for free happy meal toys from McD's? I mean, if they were some kinda collectibles, $3 may be a bargain, but...) I walked out with a couple of still-tagged toys for the furbaby for the bargain price of $1 each. Otherwise, there was nothing else that caught my eye... ... at least, not for the price I want to pay. They do have a bit of following, though. There were a few "regulars" who walked in. I'm leaving a low stars review here, because the place is so weird. It's like a schizophrenic did the purchasing. The lady at the counter is nice enough, but I always feel guilty if I don't buy anything, because often I've been the only customer in the place. As I mentioned, quite the range of stuff, in quite the range of tastes. I recently discovered why...they buy estates, and really, that means you get the bad with the good, taste wise. I must say, their kitchen area is well worth visiting if you are building a vintage kitchen collection. This place is a great find, especially if you're coming from any other part of the bay. So many vintage items, antiques and collectibles priced at about half of what they would be in Berkeley or Walnut Creek. Dining room tables that would cost you well over $500 at an estate sale are priced in the $200 range. Very cool beds, cabinets, desks, etc, with tons of nick nacks. I'm guessing that has something to do with the location in Pinole, which also probably accounts for all the low-end stuff they have, too. The clientele looked to be a mix of upscale decor-conscious types and people who seemed to think that they were in a thrift store. (See the review below, which complains about $2 books--even a $.01 book from Amazon will cost you $4 with shipping!) So your experience will probably depend upon your expectations. One customer walked up to the guy at the counter to lecture him that an art print really should be priced higher, while another complained that he wanted $10 for a lamp. They've got a weird mix of stuff probably because they've got a weird mix of customers. read more

If I had a dollar for every time I said "Oh wow! Look at that!" then this place would make me rich. My mom and I spent over two hours browsing for the first time on Monday (yes, somewhere is open in Pinole on a Monday!) and we had a great time. The owners are really nice and you can tell they have a passion for what they do. The store has such an eclectic mix of items for sale, but the displays are laid out in a way that is easy to navigate and find what you're looking for. For me, The Treasure Hunt is the perfect kind of antique store; they have nice, "expensive", well maintained furniture and antiques mixed in with affordable, fun nostalgia items and light "thrift store" finds. Such an awesome little place in the area. I don't have to go down to Poor Honey's in Oakland as often, this is the perfect place to find a cool old solid wood chair, bookcase, nightstand, etc. They have a bunch of other stuff too that's fun to look at, but the ability to pop in and find a sturdy, high quality piece of furniture for a reasonable price is fabulous. read more

This store is in the Twilight Zone between a thrift store and an antique store. Frankly I think it is an overpriced thrift store. I am not into old furniture, so I cannot say good or bad about the furniture. What I can comment about are the stuff I like, as in collectible books, of which I found none, or quality vintage clothing, which is a sparse sampling here. Some toy card piqued my interest but they seemed to cost more than if I got them at Costco. I am here in Pinole for a few weeks every summer. I visit here just to see what's going on. Just OK, nothing to lose sleep over. read more

I love going thrift shopping so when I saw this place I just had to stop. It's located right in front of a diy carwash off San Pablo Ave in Pinole...not too far from Foster Freeze. Curb appeal = none....merchandise = a ton! It's almost overwhelming how much stuff they have, it's like hitting the secondhand jackpot. There is so much stuff crammed in this store that it's a little hoarder-ish but once you get over the initial shock of the wall-to-wall, floor to ceiling, packed like rats feel of it...it really is like you are on a wonderful treasure hunt! Some stuff is overpriced but other stuff is under priced. You just have to judge for yourself the value of the item based on how unusual or quirky it is and how much you can't live without. Now I'm not into Looney Tunes but I found this adorable Porky Pig juice glass for $4 (which is kinda steep for a little glass) but it was just love at first sight. I didn't know it before I walked in there but I couldn't live without it! So cute! They have everything from classic toys to jewelry to furniture to books...and so on and so on. I could've spent days in Treasure Hunt...the name suits it perfectly. They are open 7 days a week which is great and the guy who helped me was very nice. I can't wait to go back! read more
