A busy bar with a nice outdoor area was perfect for some chill hang out time the night before our friends' wedding at the resort. I enjoyed the "sloshies," especially the mai tai one. The bartender inside was hustling but super sweet, and changed one of the smaller TVs tucked away to the Michigan State football game for me, which was awesome. I kept popping in to check the score, and every time I sat down, I was asked if I needed anything by one of the servers. Service was on point here, even when it was a bit busier. I ended up sitting at a table on the deck with some friends later on, and ordered a half pound of buffalo wings to snack on, and Nate got a burger. The wings were good, pretty typical sports bar type wings. Others at our table got the Wydaho nachos, which are made with waffle fries. The plate was huge and looked delicious! A good amount of outdoor seating and pleasant service made for a relaxing end to a tough hike. Had a refreshing huckleberry lemonade* with huckleberries stirred in; tasty chips with salsa, nacho cheese, and guacamole**; and waffle fries sprinkled with parmesan and hot pepper flakes. We've had a few lunches here when we rode the mountain and liked it. It fills up pretty quickly as one of the few options, so break early or wait. Great beers and good food make this an easy place to warm up over lunch. I had the carne asada tacos and the bbq sandwich on the two days we ate here. I liked the bbq more, but the waffle fries stole the show for us. You may want a basket of those. They pair perfectly with the Pakos IPA, Space Dust, Bison Brown or Moose Drool. read more

What a great time in a great location. The bar opens at 11 and everyone seems to know it. By 1105 the place is pretty full. There are a wide variety of beers on tap and in a can ready to go with you on to the slopes. The wait staff is easy on the eyes and really friendly. Is there a best thing on the menu? They seem to promote their nachos and waffle fries. Plenty of people order that and want it. I say the hidden gem is the fish tacos. Grilled not fried. What a difference. The worst thing to do is have a healthy alternative and then get the fried inside fish. These again are grilled. Tasty cole slaw and pico sauce on the side. Ask for the side salad instead of the tater tots or the fries if you are trying to be healthy. Then the bands come out. Man the whole atmosphere changes. We are staying in Driggs and came up to Targhee for lunch. This place didn't disappoint. We got a bowl of the soup of the day which was chicken curry. It was delish. One word of warning though, it is served VERY HOT. ( I burnt my tongue) We also got the Trapper Cheeseburger. We got it with Swiss cheese and added bacon beer cheese dip. That dip was so flavorful. It also has jalapeños in it. But not too spicy. We got the tots with the burger. We are from Utah and like Fry Sauce. And they don't serve it here but we asked for mayo and made our own. . It is Tuesday afternoon and they have Moonshine Mary's open mic with live music. Very nice. We love music. Definitely worth the drive to this ski resort to eat, even if you aren't skiing. read more

Taking a break from the slopes, we ventured in this place. It was packed mid-day! Luckily, we found a table. Being so busy, It took a little while for a server to notice us (like some other reviews complain about). After that though, service was good. We enjoyed a couple brews and some delicious nacho waffle fries...seriously, these are good! They were setting up for some live music, but we headed back to the slopes. Haven't written a review in a while but thought this deserved a review. My buddy and I were staying up at Grand Targhee for closing weekend and while some people seemed over it for the season, most the staff at the Trap Bar were different. Saturday evening was so fun, live music, beer selection was great, the fish tacos were fantastic and I want to give a shout out to Kelly, our server. This place is always busy and rightfully so--it's a great spot for a post skiing snack, meal or drink. They have lots of TVs, a good amount of seating, and a great menu. They do not have a hostess, so take any table that's becomes open. Here is the appetizer breakdown-- 1. Buffalo wings--I recommend 2. Waffle fry nachos--not my favorite but good 3. Beer cheese dip--must get 4. Tots--get 5. Fried pickles--get So that breakdown didn't help much because you'd end up getting everything. However, mix it up get some each day or even go for a few each time to split. Now moving on to the drinks-- 1. O'Dells IPA--best IPA on the menu (unless they have one on the special) 2. Teton Tea--my husbands favorite. It's sweat tea vodka and lemonade. 3. Cider with Tuaca(sp?)--a great way to warm up after a chilly day skiing. Service here is good, not great, but they are SO busy. Give the wait staff a break, they are trying their best. The only thing I would change is to get the Buffalo Bill's truffle fries, they are out of this world! read more

We went here during a holiday weekend on a Saturday and not only did they still have good service for being slammed but the food was great! I got the nachos with fries and they made it vegan by having no cheese and sour cream. No dairy in their guac. And again, they were slammed and nice about getting me something vegan. HORRIBLE SERVICE. Server slammed the checks down on our table when it came time to pay. Several orders messed up and when the survey promised to fix the mistake, the solution never came. It would appear to me that there are two kinds of diners here - those who know the cooks and those who don't. I fit into the latter category, and that seemed to be the problem with my lunch. The cooks came out to greet the other snowboarders and skiers that obviously frequent the place. Great service, great talks about the snow conditions, great runs so far that day, etc. I had the fish tacos - and "waffle fries" with them. The tacos were good, but I got the dregs of what I imagine was a 5lb frozen Simplot bag of precut waffle fries. You know, the broken little bits of waffle fry pieces. As I shook the ketchup bottle to mind-will the remaining 1/2 oz. of ketchup down to the spout to get it on my plate, hoping to dip my waffly fry nubbins into it....the servers were oblivious, too busy talking skiing with their buddies. I expect if you know the right people, this place is a 4. But if you ski 3-4 times a year and don't know anybody, pack a lunch. read more

The service here is unbelievably terrible. We came in and it was pretty busy but we sat down and only tables we could find where dirty but we sat down anyway. When the server finally came up she said "sorry i'm too busy to clear this right now" what kind of restaurant/bar are you running? Your customers should be first priority no matter how "busy" things are. Doesn't take more than minute to take the plates and throw them in the back for the dishwasher. Mind you I saw 3 or 4 waitress's in the back area just talking, laughing and drinking sodas. These people are lazy and I've come here for years but I'm not coming back again. We ordered drinks and our server couldn't manage to bring the physical check. She came by and said 11$ when you're ready. I wanted to demand she bring the check but I was so done with their poor service. All this poor service was provided by Kat, so good luck with her. read more

What used to be a great ski bar is no more. New chef has introduced bizarre twists to classics such as Philly Cheesesteak and Fish Tacos. Quality control is non-existent and tables and seats are filthy. Grand Targhee deserves better. read more

Trap bar has some nice specials from 3 to 6 pm, but is otherwise a little overpriced. Yes, 10 wings for $6 is great on mondays, but $8 for 6 wings any other night is pricey. Beer and spirt selection is very good. I would give 4 stars but sanitation is an issue. Saw several servers garnish meals with bare hands, including the bartender who must have the grossest hands (a la bartending). Have a beer, maybe a special, but steer clear of rip off prices. read more
