The staff at Training Point are AWESOME!! They are well informed and fully engaged in ensuring that the student gets their money's worth. For example, I needed more coaching in how to shoot a 9mm to qualify for the 40 hours Weapons program and the Training Director Brian Ayers made time for me. He guided me on adjusting my grip, line of sight and trigger control. After the extra coaching I was able to not only meet the minimum qualifications, but I exceeded it. Great HQL training course! In comparing what was discussed with friends who recently took the course elsewhere, Training Point provided extras that they didn't cover. I truly appreciate being able to get hands on with various firearms from the instructors' collection. It "armed" me with knowledge ahead of going to a shop and being at the whims of the salesperson. I don't write reviews often, but Kathleen was so helpful with my fingerprinting process and figuring out exactly what Maryland required for my particular license. So patient, kind and knowledgeable. Will go back for anything I need that they can do, which seems to be a lot! read more

I've been to this place 3 times to get my fingerprinting done but all 3 times it's been closed. I know certain situations come up that require you to step outside the office but geez! I'll have to look elsewhere to get my fingerprints done. read more

I had the opportunity to undergo the 40 hour basic weapons and 64 hour SGIM training by with the director of training Brian Ayres. I was an decent shooter but Brian helped me bring my skill level to a whole other level. He has given my the tools to fine tune my skills. Brian helped me understand a very important concept. You don't practice the ice course of fire, you practice your fundamentals: trigger control and sight ailment. Through Brian's one on one teaching and training I have become more confident in my shooting and his classes have opened my eyes up to reality of working as a security officer. Brian strives to make the classroom a comfortable and enjoyable learning experience. His belief is that students excel better when they're not being yelled out and promotes a stress free environment. Brian's lead instructor Lieutenant McCoy also known as Tiny helped me understand that shooting is 90% mental. The better mindset and positivity you have, the better shooter you are. Tiny promoted a relaxed learning environment and his teachings helped build confidence. Kathleen Ayres the head of office administration promoted family values and even went out of her way to help officers with personal issues in their day to day lives. This academy is very welcoming and within days you feel right at home. This training has given me a better appreciation of the responsibilities of a security officer and given me the skill sets to better respond to different situations. I've attended multiple weapons classes in the Military and in the civilian world and this by far was the best.
