Their indoor range is fairly new and is a great means to practice in bad weather and the winter. Prices for the range are decent. Staff was helpful, and I've been back about 4x. I brought a few folks who were refamiliarizing themselves with shooting and they had a good experience. I've shot my own weapons there, and also rented when I wanted to try some new things. Renting requires buying their ammo which can be a little expensive. The shop is well stocked with firearms and they are glad to show you some options. read more

I appreciate the supportive confidence the woman-owned shop offers. The knowledgeable staff provides guidance and training opportunities that fit all levels of experience. I highly recommend this small business also because of their advocacy in Annapolis for OUR 2nd amendment rights. read more

Stay away! Most racist place ever! Followed my husband around the entire time, in addition to had the RUDEST attitudes ever!

Today was supposed to be an enjoyable first experience at the shooting range for us. It was my friend's birthday, and we were all looking forward to having a good time. Up until we reached the Gun Range counter, every staff member we interacted with had been welcoming, respectful, and genuinely pleasant. Unfortunately, that changed the moment we spoke with the employee at the Gun Range counter -- the one with ginger-colored hair. When he asked whether it was our first time shooting, I answered honestly that it was my first time. My husband also mentioned that our friends would be arriving shortly and that one of them, who teaches Senior MilitaryTactical Fire Arm Instructor for 19 years would be helping us. Instead of responding professionally, the employee made an unnecessary and disrespectful comment. He said, first, that it was "freaking awesome," but then immediately followed it with, "people in the military are the worst shooters we've ever encountered." Our friends haven't even arrived yet. That statement alone was aggravating, unprofessional, and completely out of line. He didn't even see or talk to our friend before making that judgment. It was insulting not only to our friend's service but to anyone who has served. His tone and attitude were dismissive and condescending from that point forward. It is completely unacceptable for a man who has risked his life in service to this country to be spoken about or to be belittled in such a manner. He then turned to me and said he was "honestly concerned" that this was my first time shooting -- speaking to me as if I were a child rather than an adult customer. I already struggle with confidence, and his approach was unnecessary, rude, and completely inappropriate for someone working in a customer-facing environment. Instead of making me feel safe, informed, or supported, he made me feel judged and talked down to. When I entered the gun range, the same employee who had already made unnecessary comments about it being my first time shooting continued to behave unprofessionally. He stood there staring at me and making a face that was clearly judgmental and unwelcome. His demeanor made me extremely uncomfortable. I ended up firing only one round before deciding to leave because the environment he created did not feel respectful, supportive, or appropriate for a first‑time shooter. What makes this even more disappointing is that my husband was planning to take classes there and buy his guns. After this interaction, it's clear that this employee needs to be addressed. His attitude, his comments, and the way he speaks to customers are unacceptable. He needs to be reminded of what professionalism looks like and how to treat people with basic respect. I would also like to note our interaction with the second gentleman who approached the counter. He was very polite and spoke to us in a respectful, reassuring manner. When I mentioned that the previous employee's behavior had made me feel nervous, he responded by saying, "Oh yeah, he's a ginger -- he's just like that. He's not as bad as he seems." Although he was kind in his approach, his attempt to excuse the earlier unprofessional behavior was inappropriate and did not address the underlying concern. Since I am aware that your facility has a history of reviewing camera footage to justify an employee's behavior, I want to clarify what was occurring at that moment. After the employee's inappropriate comment, my husband was simply trying to talk to me and lighten the mood because he could see that I was uncomfortable and upset. His intention was to reassure me, not to escalate the situation. He was simply trying to calm me down and reminded me not to let an employee's overinflated ego interfere with my ability to enjoy the experience. I would find any response that deflects accountability for your employees actions is unacceptable and disrespectful to our Men and Women of our Military. read more

Went for the ladies pistol event. Had a great time, staff is extremely knowledge and friendly, safety is first in every step. Also took a private lesson, very helpful and understanding. Felt much more comfortable after lesson and event handling pistols! read more

Hands down the most knowledgeable and friendly staff. I have frequented the store many times and have always had a great experience. Whether you are a first-timer or an experienced gun owner this is where I recommend all of my people to go. read more

Highly professional, helpful and well-informed staff, clean and modern range. Everything runs like a well-oiled machine here (just like my 1911). I've shot tens of thousands of rounds, in everything from a BB gun to the 120mm main gun of an M1 Abrams, for decades, and this is the best indoor range I've ever been to. read more

This is the best gun store in Maryland for me. Worth A Shot is the complete gun experience. They have excellent service and services, from purchasing to gun smithing. You can take classes from learning how to handle a gun to getting your conceal carry permits and or renewed. You also learn Maryland gun laws. The staff is second to non, professional, polite, informative, intelligent, and for me the most important friendly. The gun range WOW!! Not like other indoor gun ranges I can breath in the range while shooting. Fresh air flows in and out while shooting which keeps it cool. There is always someone on duty in the range to help if you need help and to make sure everyone is safe. Worth A Shot YES YES YES! read more

Putting all my people on to this woman-owned location to get their HQL (Handgun Qualification License) and/or CCW (Concealed Weapons Permit). Customer Service, Knowledge and Selection are the big three when selecting a location to purchase your handgun and this is the place to go! read more

Finished my classes yesterday and was VERY happy with the Donna and the whole team that helped out. They cut no corners and made sure everyone's questions were answered. I love how involved they are in the community as well as advocating for our rights at the state level. I also am looking forward to the renovations being complete and the range being finished! This will be our place for all of our firearm needs! read more

Haven't tried the range yet but purchased a firearm from them recently. The store is professionally run and it shows from the investment in the store, the firearms, and the humans that run it. I live in adjacent neighborhood so looking forward to trying the range. Not a big fan of waiting multiple hours to shoot on a weekend so having a reservation option is appealing. Maybe I'll remember to update after trying the range. read more

Professional, polite, informative, intelligent, and excellent service. What more could you want?

Not worth-your-time.. I've been here a few times, bought a 1911 from them even. Took a class here too. Sometimes the guys selling the guns are cool and will interact nicely. Most times here- the owner, or their managers are rude, and they're overpriced. Once yelled at me not to look in the blue case if I was not "blue".. Really? Another time asked me when I inquired about a PPK, why I wanted something like that/did I even have a CCL? I've kept my nose clean, and never tire kick. If you treat me like a turd in your punch bowl- I'm out! Get over yourselves! read more

What a great day! I thought to myself , what could you possibly do in an 8 hr class for wear and carry renewal, I'm going need lots of coffee! Well I was so wrong, barely got a chance to drink it! She and her skilled team, were like a well oiled machine. Teamwork to get over 20 of us qualified. Now done , I feel confident I am a safe , knowledgeable, confident accurate shooter, with much emphasis on safety. Kudos to you Donna for all your hard work, in making us the best little part of you! read more

Was able to flawlessly transfer ownership of my revolver. Professional and informed conversation while making this transaction.

From purchases to training, Worth A Shot has been great each time I've been to the shop. Knowledgable and patient staff and a fine selection of products. read more

Guns are very over-priced. Knowledge and professionalism of most of the employees is pretty high, except, of course, like every business, the few that are kept employed for some other reason. Most are working very hard - and those few are standing around acting ridiculous. I would not recommend this business to anyone in the gun community. They hardly rate the one star. read more

Wouldn't allow me to pick up a gun I purchased over a month ago. Did not show any documentation showing how this is a legal requirement. Now I have to drive all the way back to the shop from my out of town city on another day. read more

Donna and her team at Worth A Shot are wonderful. I participated in, The Ladies Pistol Project. What a great event, I can barely wait for the next one. I plan to take the permit to carry class soon. This place is a hit and miss. First time I went there I was greeted by the older red haired lady who seemed to be a bit grouchy. I got my finger prints for the HQL done for $54.50 and was given my paperwork (there was no class that day and I went mid afternoon so there was no wait). I went back a week later to look at buying an AR and was told they only have one left which is $2,500 (understandable given everyone is out of everything). Staff weren't overly friendly, but given the high volume of people that go there they don't have to cater to everyone. You are most likely going to pay a bit more here. One thing I do like is the gun raffle they have on Facebook through the week as I won a nice shotgun for a $25 ticket. Overall, If you know exactly what you want and they have it- go for it. If this is your first gun and you want some assistance, I think there's better smaller stores to help you out. Of note, when I bought my pistol they charge an additional $10 for submitting the federal paper and $35 for a lock so you can walk out of the store with it... I saw a lock at Walmart for $4 but I already paid. read more

HQL informative and educated. Very helpful in filling out forms and explaining.

Unfair practice Brought a revolver handgun went target practice..gun would not fire..took it back..they said the fix it..went to the gun range again still will not fire properly They are not willing to give a full refund..unbelievable ask to have it sent back to have replaced...I was told wouldn't be worth my trouble..was forced to buy anther gun with only refunded me 75% of the original price read more

My husband and I took the HQL course here with the owner a while back. She has a great personality and wants the best for everyone in the class. She provided real world scenarios throughout the class which made it a nice learning experience. I would highly recommend them for firearm courses and training. read more

Money grubbing thief's. If I could have given 0 stars I would. This gun store changed me 110$ for a gun part that I had to wait to pick up so I changed my mind on it a few days later because I found a way better price online. I went in to get my refund and they would not give me any money back because I didn't spend over 200$. Worth a shot stole my money and ever even gave me my gun part! I now brand this place "Not -Worth -Shit" horrible service. At least the counter girl has buns. I hope they used my 110$ for something real special. Money grubbing thief's. Do yourself a huge favor and go somewhere else. Still feel the same and it's been a year. This place sucks read more

I just came in to buy Ammo, and you would think I was trying to buy a House with the confusion in this place. They also happen to be holding a gun class, and with a guy walking around with Panties on his head. When I asked if that was professional or proper? I was told not harrass the Staff! I was only asking if that was Proper for a Face covering in such a confined place. To the Owner: He obviously did it as an Insult to your Business and/or a Sick Joke....... But You Allowed that juvenile behavior around Guns and Ammo? Seriously? Just takes 1 person to come in to your Crowded Space possibly asymptomatic wearing Panties, sitting in a room of other patrons combined around this type of classroom material. Who the hell is in charge? This business doesnt care about your Safety...they just want your Money. read more

I called in advance to find out about finger printing. I was told I can just walk in today. I walked in 30 minutes later and was told by a RUDE red head woman that there was a two hour wait and the class that was just starting had to be finger printed first. I told her that's not what I was told on the phone and she then became very rude and nasty with ME about the process of getting the class done first and why I had to wait. Again, I told her that's not what I was told on the phone. She huffed and checked the class in while She told me to wait. She then told me "normally" they do walk ins but they had back to back classes today so she would make an exception for me and asked an older woman to just check me in. She then told me "you get more when your a little nicer to people" and then walked away. Ummmm not my fault incompetent employees work there that don't know the plan for the day. And I definitely did not give her an attitude, I was just telling her what I was advised on the phone by their employees..... I then politely announced I would take my business elsewhere. Sorry she was having a bad day and decided to take it out on a nurse who will probably save her life when she catches covid by not wearing her mask over her nose... I was going to educate her nicely but you get more when your a little nicer to people....... read more

I purchased an optic for my Glock 19, Gen 5. I carry the same weapon at work. I went into the with my duty weapon on me. So the associate so my weapon and I told him that purchased the same weapon from Worth A Shot months ago. The weapon didn't have the plate that my duty weapon had so the optic had to returned. The manager tried to chastise me for not knowing when his associate the day before assured me that the Glock 19 that I purchased from at the plate for an optic and it didn't. The mood of the entire encounter was unprofessional of them and to attempt to chastise me when they were wrong...just lost a customer!!! read more

This is a cool little spot! Its a one stop shop for all of your weapons qualifications needs. They do fingerprinting, classroom training for handgun qualifications, and weapon and accessory sales. There is no firing range onsite. For live weapons training you arrange a meet at one of several ranges they contract with. The place is pretty small but the staff is warm and they know their weapons. read more

It works. I took the HQL class there and got a handgun through the process. They know their stuff with the class and system. If you keep this as your goal you won't go wrong. They know the rules inside and out. This said, if you are looking for the lowest price this is not the place. Everything is basically a bit more expensive here for what you would pay. The only gun they seem to put in sale is a Glock once a year. This said, you are supporting a local business. Some feel that is important.... I'm not so sure any more. Prices are much more for accessories. Especially for lock boxes. I think I paid $70 more than online and you can't return once you leave. That was my mistake but one I won't do again. And they are definitely not talkative.... I tried to engage the staff and I felt like I was bothering them in the middle of their busy day .... with only me in the store the entire exchange. That honestly was a bit uncomfortable at times. Keep it to business and what you need and that's what you will get. This is my honest opinion, based on my experience of three visits. I believe I would still use them if I needed a transfer though despite my first experience. read more

I recently purchased a gun out of state and used Worth A Shot for my FFL because my regular gun shop was closed. I get an email from the place I purchased my gun and from Fed-Ex stating that my gun has arrived. I contact Worth A Shot and they advise me that my gun is not there. Well the placed I purchased from said someone at the location signed for it. I call them back and then the advise me they do have it in, however the owner is the only one who can log guns into the system and she is out running errands. I ask will she be in later on in the day? I'm told yes call back. This was on a Wednesday. I called Thursday, Friday and Saturday and was given the same answer ( she is running errands) until I showed up in person. The guy who processes my paper work insults me stating I'm a little over zealous because they have orders coming in all day. If anything happens to the owner how would customers get their property. The guys inside can sell you items but the dam owner doesn't have confidence in them logging property. Don't waste your time/money with this gun shop. They are not WORTH A SHIT.
