Today was supposed to be an enjoyable first experience at the shooting range for us. It was my friend's birthday, and we were all looking forward to having a good time. Up until we reached the Gun Range counter, every staff member we interacted with had been welcoming, respectful, and genuinely pleasant. Unfortunately, that changed the moment we spoke with the employee at the Gun Range counter -- the one with ginger-colored hair. When he asked whether it was our first time shooting, I answered honestly that it was my first time. My husband also mentioned that our friends would be arriving shortly and that one of them, who teaches Senior MilitaryTactical Fire Arm Instructor for 19 years would be helping us. Instead of responding professionally, the employee made an unnecessary and disrespectful comment. He said, first, that it was "freaking awesome," but then immediately followed it with, "people in the military are the worst shooters we've ever encountered." Our friends haven't even arrived yet. That statement alone was aggravating, unprofessional, and completely out of line. He didn't even see or talk to our friend before making that judgment. It was insulting not only to our friend's service but to anyone who has served. His tone and attitude were dismissive and condescending from that point forward. It is completely unacceptable for a man who has risked his life in service to this country to be spoken about or to be belittled in such a manner. He then turned to me and said he was "honestly concerned" that this was my first time shooting -- speaking to me as if I were a child rather than an adult customer. I already struggle with confidence, and his approach was unnecessary, rude, and completely inappropriate for someone working in a customer-facing environment. Instead of making me feel safe, informed, or supported, he made me feel judged and talked down to. When I entered the gun range, the same employee who had already made unnecessary comments about it being my first time shooting continued to behave unprofessionally. He stood there staring at me and making a face that was clearly judgmental and unwelcome. His demeanor made me extremely uncomfortable. I ended up firing only one round before deciding to leave because the environment he created did not feel respectful, supportive, or appropriate for a first‑time shooter. What makes this even more disappointing is that my husband was planning to take classes there and buy his guns. After this interaction, it's clear that this employee needs to be addressed. His attitude, his comments, and the way he speaks to customers are unacceptable. He needs to be reminded of what professionalism looks like and how to treat people with basic respect. I would also like to note our interaction with the second gentleman who approached the counter. He was very polite and spoke to us in a respectful, reassuring manner. When I mentioned that the previous employee's behavior had made me feel nervous, he responded by saying, "Oh yeah, he's a ginger -- he's just like that. He's not as bad as he seems." Although he was kind in his approach, his attempt to excuse the earlier unprofessional behavior was inappropriate and did not address the underlying concern. Since I am aware that your facility has a history of reviewing camera footage to justify an employee's behavior, I want to clarify what was occurring at that moment. After the employee's inappropriate comment, my husband was simply trying to talk to me and lighten the mood because he could see that I was uncomfortable and upset. His intention was to reassure me, not to escalate the situation. He was simply trying to calm me down and reminded me not to let an employee's overinflated ego interfere with my ability to enjoy the experience. I would find any response that deflects accountability for your employees actions is unacceptable and disrespectful to our Men and Women of our Military. read more

This is the best gun store in Maryland for me. Worth A Shot is the complete gun experience. They have excellent service and services, from purchasing to gun smithing. You can take classes from learning how to handle a gun to getting your conceal carry permits and or renewed. You also learn Maryland gun laws. The staff is second to non, professional, polite, informative, intelligent, and for me the most important friendly. The gun range WOW!! Not like other indoor gun ranges I can breath in the range while shooting. Fresh air flows in and out while shooting which keeps it cool. Haven't tried the range yet but purchased a firearm from them recently. The store is professionally run and it shows from the investment in the store, the firearms, and the humans that run it. Not worth-your-time.. I've been here a few times, bought a 1911 from them even. Took a class here too. Sometimes the guys selling the guns are cool and will interact nicely. Most times here- the owner, or their managers are rude, and they're overpriced. Once yelled at me not to look in the blue case if I was not "blue".. Really? Another time asked me when I inquired about a PPK, why I wanted something like that/did I even have a CCL? I've kept my nose clean, and never tire kick. Guns are very over-priced. Knowledge and professionalism of most of the employees is pretty high, except, of course, like every business, the few that are kept employed for some other reason. This place is a hit and miss. First time I went there I was greeted by the older red haired lady who seemed to be a bit grouchy. I got my finger prints for the HQL done for $54.50 and was given my paperwork (there was no class that day and I went mid afternoon so there was no wait). I went back a week later to look at buying an AR and was told they only have one left which is $2,500 (understandable given everyone is out of everything). Staff weren't overly friendly, but given the high volume of people that go there they don't have to cater to everyone. You are most likely going to pay a bit more here. One thing I do like is the gun raffle they have on Facebook through the week as I won a nice shotgun for a $25 ticket. Overall, If you know exactly what you want and they have it- go for it. If this is your first gun and you want some assistance, I think there's better smaller stores to help you out. Of note, when I bought my pistol they charge an additional $10 for submitting the federal paper and $35 for a lock so you can walk out of the store with it... I saw a lock at Walmart for $4 but I already paid. read more

They also happen to be holding a gun class, and with a guy walking around with Panties on his head. When I asked if that was professional or proper? I was told not harrass the Staff! This gun store changed me 110$ for a gun part that I had to wait to pick up so I changed my mind on it a few days later because I found a way better price online. I called in advance to find out about finger printing. I was told I can just walk in today. I walked in 30 minutes later and was told by a RUDE red head woman that there was a two hour wait and the class that was just starting had to be finger printed first. I told her that's not what I was told on the phone and she then became very rude and nasty with ME about the process of getting the class done first and why I had to wait. Again, I told her that's not what I was told on the phone. She huffed and checked the class in while She told me to wait. She then told me "normally" they do walk ins but they had back to back classes today so she would make an exception for me and asked an older woman to just check me in. She then told me "you get more when your a little nicer to people" and then walked away. Ummmm not my fault incompetent employees work there that don't know the plan for the day. And I definitely did not give her an attitude, I was just telling her what I was advised on the phone by their employees..... I then politely announced I would take my business elsewhere. Sorry she was having a bad day and decided to take it out on a nurse who will probably save her life when she catches covid by not wearing her mask over her nose... I purchased an optic for my Glock 19, Gen 5. I carry the same weapon at work. I went into the with my duty weapon on me. So the associate so my weapon and I told him that purchased the same weapon from Worth A Shot months ago. The weapon didn't have the plate that my duty weapon had so the optic had to returned. The manager tried to chastise me for not knowing when his associate the day before assured me that the Glock 19 that I purchased from at the plate for an optic and it didn't. The mood of the entire encounter was unprofessional of them and to attempt to chastise me when they were wrong...just lost a customer!!! read more

This is a cool little spot! Its a one stop shop for all of your weapons qualifications needs. They do fingerprinting, classroom training for handgun qualifications, and weapon and accessory sales. There is no firing range onsite. For live weapons training you arrange a meet at one of several ranges they contract with. It works. I took the HQL class there and got a handgun through the process. They know their stuff with the class and system. If you keep this as your goal you won't go wrong. They know the rules inside and out. This said, if you are looking for the lowest price this is not the place. Everything is basically a bit more expensive here for what you would pay. The only gun they seem to put in sale is a Glock once a year. This said, you are supporting a local business. Some feel that is important.... I'm not so sure any more. Prices are much more for accessories. Especially for lock boxes. I think I paid $70 more than online and you can't return once you leave. That was my mistake but one I won't do again. And they are definitely not talkative.... I tried to engage the staff and I felt like I was bothering them in the middle of their busy day .... with only me in the store the entire exchange. That honestly was a bit uncomfortable at times. Keep it to business and what you need and that's what you will get. This is my honest opinion, based on my experience of three visits. I recently purchased a gun out of state and used Worth A Shot for my FFL because my regular gun shop was closed. I get an email from the place I purchased my gun and from Fed-Ex stating that my gun has arrived. I contact Worth A Shot and they advise me that my gun is not there. Well the placed I purchased from said someone at the location signed for it. I call them back and then the advise me they do have it in, however the owner is the only one who can log guns into the system and she is out running errands. I ask will she be in later on in the day? I'm told yes call back. This was on a Wednesday. I called Thursday, Friday and Saturday and was given the same answer ( she is running errands) until I showed up in person. The guy who processes my paper work insults me stating I'm a little over zealous because they have orders coming in all day. If anything happens to the owner how would customers get their property. The guys inside can sell you items but the dam owner doesn't have confidence in them logging property. Don't waste your time/money with this gun shop. They are not WORTH A SHIT. I think the only reason this place stays in business is because there is no real competition nearby. The staff is neither friendly nor very knowledgeable. I have been in there a few times and heard them give out incorrect information to people who are looking to understand the laws a bit better. If you are going to be a training facility please learn the laws. Prices are also out of control. I asked about a price on a handgun and was quoted above MSRP. I know it is tough to compete against online retailers but charging above MSRP is outrageous. Even with a LE discount they were higher than most local places without a discount.
