Not only was The Device Lab able to do the repair the same day but their pricing was super fair. On top of that, the vibe of the shop is honestly amazing. The moment I walked in, I noticed how warm and welcoming everything felt. I even complimented the owner because it's so different from the typical plain, white-wall repair shops. It felt chic, cozy, and thoughtfully put together. Love how he immediately gave the credit to his wife, you can tell he is extremely proud of her work and rightfully so because I would hire her to make my business look as cute as The Device Lab. Carlos explained the process of the battery replacement for my iPhone 12 Pro Max. They are hard-ish to find, they are in the industrial area in the west end of Camarillo. and you need to call ahead if you have specific parts that you need-because during Covid they closed off their warehouse, so you have to order by items now instead of browsing the aisles. But they are super nice & easy to work with. :)

They don't stock much of anything relating to ICs or transistors, but you'll find a selection of chassis, and hardware items to build up your prototypes. T One downside is that since they have so few walk-in customers, you can't get in to the parts area without waiting for one of the phone support people to break free and walk you over to the parts area. Another down side is that much of their shelf stock is very old. Spray cans of solvent may be half-empty from can leaks, and electrolytic aren't necessary going to be fresh. But with components like fans, relays, transformers, resistors, etc. that won't matter. They also carry hand tools, tool cases, heat-shrink, solder, connectors, adapters, plugs... just a lot of other stuff to create and repair electronic projects. Their pricing is not particularly cheap. The people working there (mostly in cubicles doing phone orders) are very nice.

All that I wanted to do was revive the machine. The repair technician Valerie confirmed my analysis. As the machine had two RAM chips, one 8 GB, the other 4 GB, she suggested that it might be possible to revive the machine if the 4 GB chip was defective. Simply taking it out would leave an 7 GB RAM chip which was sufficient for the machine to run. So she took it out, we rebooted the machine, and to my pleasant surprise it worked. As I plan to buy a new PC immediately, the 8 GB RAM chip will suffice for my needs. Valarie saved me the ~$125 cost of a new 16 GB RAM chip. She refused to accept any payment for her work.

I opted for the refurbished option Johnny was very polite and I appreciated all the staffs thoroughness and professionalism. Unfortunately, they had to re-order the refurbished device twice from their vendor-- as the first 2 devices had errors/tested for a bad battery which prolonged the lead time, but was worth the wait! Once the device was in and tested to be in proper working order, Johnny helped me transfer all the data from the damaged iPad onto the new refurbished iPad. They are very honest and I would comeback here again should any of my devices break again, much closer than the Apple Store!

I took my amp in last week, the reverb went out and I had microphonic tubes. I had suspected that I needed new preamp tubes and a new reverb tank. Took it in on a Tuesday, was told that I would receive a call later on that day. Never received one, decided to call on Thursday to follow up and check on status. Was told that it hasn't even been powered on yet. I asked for an estimated time of when It would get tested or be ready. Tone Garage was busy, I understand that. But it is unprofessional and inconsiderate to leave a customer hanging around, not knowing when to expect their equipment back. Could be a day, a week, a month, months. "Let me just put my whole life aside and wait for their call when they're ready for me, that sounds great." I took a visit to a local guitar shop and heard nothing but negative things and reviews about tone garage. Hearing about people receiving their equipment back months later, sometimes not even fully repaired. Luckily, there was a tech at the shop that works on amps. I was able to get my amp back before anything was done to it, took it to the shop and got it worked on within 20 minutes. It shouldn't take weeks to just get new tubes. Never again will I take any equipment of mine or recommend this place to anyone at all. read more

Don't let the 5 stars fool you. This asshole has plenty of bad reviews under the "not recommended" makes me wonder... This place is a joke. This guy doesn't know how to run a business professionally, interact with customers, listen to messages and return calls, and the kicker is, he will gladly take your money without being able to completely repair your equipment. Don't waste your money, your time, your equipment, and your hope on fixing it. Go to someone that will actually fix your gear with a reasonable quote and within a decent time period. Just do what Tone Garage does, watch YouTube videos and tutorials. That's free labor in itself. All of these tech places love to take advantage of ignorant customers. They put up a front of "complications" in their line of work. When in reality, it's simple shit. With technology nowadays, you have most of these tools at your disposal. Save yourself money, stress, and time. It's unnecessary. Do it yourself to save yourself from unpleasant encounters with dipshits like these. read more

I purchased a Yamaha MM8 Keyboard from Guitar Center, and bought a 2-year warranty through pro-coverage. About a year and 360 days into my warranty, a key started to fail, so I called up Pro Coverage, and sent it in. I got a call from Jay, saying that he received it. About a week later, I opened up the box with my pride & joy in it only to find that a large chunk was missing from the side. I got on the phone and talked with Jay, and he filed a claim with UPS. Even after my warranty had expired, he worked with Guitar Center and Pro Coverage to repair the damage. Unfortunately, the damage was too great to repair, so I was reimbursed the full purchase amount of they keyboard. I cannot thank the guys at the Tone Garage enough for their work. I will be recommending them to all of my musician friends. read more

I have a vintage Marshall 50 watt AMP that I bought in 1979. It had been popping and cracking and not being electronically inclined I had no idea how to fix it. I found Jay on the internet and took it in for him to look at. After a brief discussion he said he could get it back to the sound it used to have in no time. I picked it up today and have been playing ever since. He did exactly what he said for a little less than he estimated and I could not be happier.
