I picked out tile from the sample at the store and was told it was a special order. I was aware that a special order was not returnable, and I understand why. I paid, expecting to get what I ordered. Boy, was I surprised! When the actual tile arrived and our contractor picked it up he sent me a picture if it; it looked nothing like what I had ordered or the sample in the store. When I returned to the store with the intent of offering to split the difference in the order as it was not what I originally wanted, I was met by an older man, sorry he never told me his name, and he was not even going to let me explain the issue or my idea on how to make it fair for all involved. He was rude, condescending and belligerent. At one point he stated, "I know women like you." When I took a deep breath I answered, "oh you mean fair and assertive?" May this be a warning to you to not to purchase from this store because they are not professional or even civil. I did find tile at Lowes that I almost bought at Conestoga but decided to look around. Surprise, surprise...Lowes had the same tile for half the price.

We had this all done at a really busy time for us (in hindsight, this was the mistake on our part), as we all know that these days, if you want good-quality work with installs/contractors, you have to micromanage and helicopter it, it seems. We took his word for it on a couple of things and shouldn't have. When he came to measure, I pointed to a spot where there is a dip in our basement, he said they would repair it upon installation. I was at work when the carpet was installed, and when I realized a couple of weeks later that the dip was still there, he tried to gaslight me - saying they would never agree to repair something like that, as it is not something they do since it would be concrete work, to repair a basement foundation issue. He said someone would come check it out, but they never did. It's been 2-3 months now. I had also asked him, while he was at our house, how much would need to be moved/put away. He said, "you don't have to worry about anything but just the little things and anything breakable". My husband questioned this the night before installation, as he noticed the contract stated that most things needed to be cleared, but I told him not to worry about it because Jonathan said we didn't need to. The crew tried to charge us extra fees for having to move stuff or said they would come back another day after we took care of it, but they then wanted to charge us $200-300 for not getting to do the job that day. We fought back on this, so we ultimately did not pay this fee. Jonathan was very condescending throughout this whole experience, playing dumb and somehow forgetting what he said to me. Don't trust what he says and just read the fine print.

From the very beginning , I should have been made aware of certain things when I picked out my LVF. I also got carpet in one n my rooms. Everything was wrong. The order, the installers, the carpet. All of it was done in a rush. The floors have jagged edges. The people that came by to look at the flooring which was done wrong said it makes it look more authentic. The carpet couldn't be laid properly in one area, because the base board to secure the flooring was glued down, to secure the floor, and as a divider. Therefore they couldn't get the carpet secure, under the base board divider. How do u hold down the carpet when the baseboard was glued down? Just a terrible experience from beginning to end. I wouldn't recommend Bodes Flooring to anyone. Just a bad nightmare! I spent quite a bit of money doing the whole house, and I was just another number. So as I said earlier, there are too many flooring companies, and I would not recommend or pick Bodes.

A#1 Parkville Cabinet Era. Salesman Bulent, Satyr Hill Shopping Center E Joppa RD…read more I had been looking and pricing cabinet on line and in person for over a month and had decided on RTA unfinished cabinets from HD. I was in Satyr Hill Shopping Center on E Joppa RD. for lunch after visiting HD in shopping center next store and saw a new cabinet store a few doors away. I stopped in and was immediately greeted by Bulent. I explained that cost was a big factor in my selection and believed that he could not even get close to the price I already had from HD for unfinished ready to assemble cabinets, Bulent indicated he had time and was willing to take a look if I had time. He took my existing design drawings; I had made and he entered into his system and made a great rendering for me to see, then he had some great ideas and made some suggestions on improvements that I thought would add extra cost. The first price was much higher than HD but he suggested another selection of cabinets that did not have as many color choices but something close (wife needed to approve) The new price was close and they came assembled and painted saving me some back-end cost. Went home discussed color with my wife she agreed that this would be a good option, next day I went back and placed order expecting a long delivery. Few weeks latter they call to set up delivery I asked them to hold a few weeks and they did without any problems. Delivery was good and units were inspected and repackaged before delivery, all in great condition. First problem came up and here is where a company fails or shines. I had a small problem with shelving and Bulent jumped on the problem like they were his cabinets, he kept in contact with me every day to resolve the problem and did not stop until the problem was resolved to my complete satisfaction. I was ecstatic with his resolution; this is the mark of a good salesman and company. This company shines. I spent most of my life in customer support and a small problem resolved is great way to show pride in the company. Quality of the cabinets is great, fronts, backs, sides and shelving are all real wood, not particle board. In this case they are being used as storage in my master bedroom where I do not expect them to be in contact with water so I could have used MDF but wood is so much nicer. Great salesman, great company and product, now they even added large screen in their showroom so you can see your design in progress. Highest recommendation, I do not do this often. Thanks for the great way I was treated.

This is after he repeatedly told me via text that he would pay me for my financial losses. See attached screenshots. Ken promised via text IN FEBRUARY 2023 to repay me for my damages. That did not happen, and it is now May 2023, so I've now filed a complaint with the state licensing commission and will take him to small claims court, if necessary. The state licensing committee told me he has prior complaints. Here is a link to one, which is quite similar to what happened to me (his company had to pay out this person's damages, but rather than resolve it in advance, he -- just like now -- put the customer through having to file a complaint, and had to go through a hearing just to get him to pay for this -- terrible!): https://www.dllr.state.md.us/license/mhic/pdf/mhic-14-1317.pdf After spending thousands of dollars with this company since 2017, it is shameful he would treat a loyal customer this way. It's the principle at this point, and I will hold him accountable. RUN, do not walk, away from considering this company for work in your home.

This past October we contracted with FloorGem to remove carpet and refinish the wooden floors…read moreunderneath as well as refinish existing floors in upstairs bedrooms. Bottom line up front - the floors look pretty good given their age but there were big misses in terms of communication and quality of work. If you are recovering floors under carpet as we did, I'd strongly recommend pulling it all up first and then get an estimate so you know what you are dealing with. The work was set to start on a Monday, moving the furniture out to a Pod for storage and then refinishing to be done by Saturday. The movers (recommended by FloorGem) contacted us and we set up their coming by at about 11am since I had a doctor's appointment at 9am. While I am being examined by the doctor I get a call from Ken (FloorGem) that his carpet removal people cannot get in as no one is home. There had been absolutely no indication that anyone from his team was showing up Monday morning, and how could they do their work anyway given the furniture was still in place? They ended up going to another job that day. Movers showed up on time and did an excellent job. Tuesday we get a text that part of the floor is in poor shape and boards really have to be replaced. That was always a potential so we simply had to accept that and move forward. However, when I dropped by later that evening to see for myself I was quite surprised to see that the work crew had "hot wired" their sander into our electric junction box in the basement, running a thick extension cord up to second floor where they had started sanding the floors that day. No one had mentioned that this would be necessary, and I have no idea whether the person doing this was a licensed electrician (highly doubt it). Thursday morning I get a call from Ken that sections of the floor in LR and DR have darker stain on them. I dropped everything to go home, thinking Ken would be there to discuss options but instead it was the work crew. The lead was very helpful, pointing out the stain and showing me how it would look with a couple of different stains. I picked the one that seemed best, as replacing these boards on top of those already replaced was not in budget. As noted above, if you are in a similar position wanting to recover those original wooden floors under carpet or vinyl, get that stuff up first so that you can better assess what is involved and what compromises you may need to make. The job was completed on time and we were able to move back in the following Monday morning. Given what FloorGem had to work with, the floors look pretty good. However, the quality of the work was a bit sloppy in parts. Stain was splashed onto baseboard and on the railing, even some stain on LR wall which thankfully Mr. Clean Magic Eraser handled ok. The wooden lip that transitions from the LR to kitchen is too high so that we can no longer close that door. I checked the junction box and, so far as I could see, appears reassembled properly (but still not thrilled it was done). Also found a cell phone (not ours) in basement, texted FloorGem to ask if it belonged to their crew but no response. So in brief, the floors look fine but we now have other issues to address to get everything in an acceptable state.

We wanted a premium quality update for 20 year-old kitchen, but had a tight budget. After getting some eye-popping bids from contractors that wanted to do everything or nothing, we decided to DIY it and hoped for the best. We looked at all the online, RTA and big box retailers but weren't happy with the combination of quality, price and guidance we found. Fortunately, we came to Kraftmaid Vantage, Pandora and Shaw. Shaw worked with us to DIY what we could and provided help (patiently) when we asked. He had great ideas, but also listened to our ideas. He gave great guidance on configuration, color and countertops. The cabinets were professionally delivered on time. We had one damaged item and the factory didn't cut the oven cabinet correctly. Shaw sorted the problems quickly without issue. We're very happy with Kraftmaid Vantage quality and finish - particularly for about the same cost as online brands and for less than lower quality Kraftmaid product from the big box stores. Shaw also provided guidance on the quartz counter tops and arraged for their installation. His contractors were polite, professional, on-time and did beautiful work. Again, for about the same cost as the box box stores. While we aren't 100% finished (still need to install the range top in the island and some lighting), we are thrilled with the result.
