Marble back splash in my newly remodeled kitchen. Way cool!
Dawn W.

I was introduced to The Tile Shop by my contractor, Titan Builders, Inc, for my kitchen remodel project. It was a really neat experience to wander through out the shop and envision not just what tile I wanted, but from the models of kitchens and bathrooms, I could really begin to understand what my whole project was going to be. And I must say, the marble tiling that we selected that day is what pulls the whole kitchen together. The Tile Shop staff are very kind and respectful, which made an impact on me in the way they talked up my contractor. Which put me at ease with the trust I was putting in the company I had hired for this big investment. Honestly, it's not just tile at The Tile Shop; it's where vision begins to take form.

This sign is not true. The word ALWAYS in caps doesn't resemble the definition of the word.

This sign is not true. It led me to believe that I could just wait and trade in some left over boxes of tiles that I bought this summer for another project in my house that will start soon. Employee said too much time has passed and I couldn't return them or trade them, but that they could "take the boxes off my hands" which I found to be distasteful. Manager called me later and I found it amazing that he didn't see any issue with the sign, particularly the word "ALWAYS". He said I didn't read the receipt's return policy, which is accurate: I READ THE SIGN IN THE STORE AND JUST ASSUMED THAT IT WOULD BE TRUE. I assumed that I could ALWAYS return boxes of tiles with no restocking fee because of this sign. There should be an asterisk next to ALWAYS indicating that ALWAYS doesn't actually mean always. (Or subject to 90 day return policy-or whatever). Not shopping here again.

Very professional. Beautiful showroom. They have a lot of tile to choose from. Parking is free with validation. They helped me choose tile for my bathroom. I couldn't be happier with their services and my bathroom.

Jack enjoying the showroom!

Especially for the cost ($16K) for kitchen countertops. The product isn't what they advertised (defective). I wish I would have known this information before I chose to go with this company. After many months of delay (4 months), the countertops were finally installed and one of the pieces was broken/cracked during the first installation. Although this product is advertised as being "indestructible" that is definitely not the case. So I had to wait two weeks for them to re-fabricate the piece. Leaving no accessible kitchen for 2 weeks. Then instead of fabricating the piece, they decided to cut corners and add a seam, which is very unsightly. Which was unauthorized and a breach of contract. The defective countertops also need brackets now because of this. Porcelanosa doesn't stand by their work and hasn't offered to repair or fix any of this either. The countertops also contained multiple scratches from installation and the use of a razor blade. The overall product does not look like the showroom quality that you see and I have attached pictures. The customer service by Porcelanosa has been slow to react, rude, and not acceptable for anyone to deal with. Especially for a company that states they are a luxury brand. This whole experience has been anything, but a luxury experience. It's been a disaster. I am still waiting on them to resolve this issue, but I am not holding my breath. I just don't want anyone else to suffer through the nightmare I have experienced.

I will be going back when I redecorate my kitchen and my bathroom. The store sells bathroom cabinets, flooring, kitchen cabinets and tiles. I was looking to replace my dated damaged laminate floors in my condo in June 2019. Patricia Forman helped me pick out some gorgeous luxury vinyl tile. She explained to me that this would be a good choice for me because I own a small puppy dog and it is considered a very low maintenance material that is water resistant!!!!! Basically the material looks just like wood but it is "commercial grade". They have commercial grade lvt which is more resistant to scratches than regular lvt that you see in other stores. This actually works very well for my lifestyle and is cost-effective and beautiful. Patricia provided me with some floor samples that I could take home and think about. Then in June I purchased the tile. She suggested an amazing team that came and completed the project to perfection in several days. I absolutely love my new floors!!!!!

But pull open the door to Materials Marketing, and let your eyes be amazed by some of the highest quality and most beautiful tile that is available in the city. From tile for floors, to mosaic floor designs, to an entire room devoted to stone fireplace surrounds, to custom designed back splashes for stoves and kitchens- you will not believe the quality or beauty of the stone at Materials Marketing. They are also able to creatively solve many of your home decorating challenges. Case in point. I had fallen in love with a Jerusalem marble stone at another retailer for my kitchen and family room floors. The only problem? The floors had actually been reclaimed from somewhere in Jerusalem, shipped to the states and were now being sold for a price close to Farouk's ransom! What's a girl to do? Materials Marketing to the rescue. They were able to source me a similar 5 piece pattern marble tile from Mexico- used a new process to make it look old and worn, and viola! I had the floor I wanted at a price I was willing to pay. Open to the trade only (you can go on your own to look but not to purchase) - go with your designer, your floor plan and your creativity. The designers on staff are great and they have recommendations on installers who are familiar with their products. My wife and I have had a great experience working with James at PurezaWood!…read more When you first visit James' showroom, you can appreciate his passion for his products. It's truly a high-end product, direct to the consumer. If you've looked in the typical places for hardwood options, you'll be blown away with the quality of what he offers. We opted for the 7.5" wide, French White Oak, in a beautiful grayish brown pre-finish stain. We're remodeling a loft condo in the West Loop and knew we needed something special to recover the entire loft's floors, to tie it all together. We had 6 different flooring surfaces throughout the home. For install, we decided to go with SLC, to eliminate some ridges and valleys, and a double-stick glue install, using 1/4" cork underlayment. We have to break up the install into 2 parts, first part looks great! Looking forward to seeing the completed project later this year!

James is a customer-centric businessman, and I really appreciate his detailed explanation of the wood quality and his passion for the business. The best thing is his pricing includes customization even though we didn't need it because we loved his "Elmhurst" collection - 7.5" wide, French White Oak, in a beautiful grayish brown pre-finish stain, and we wanted to install the new floor immediately. I even recommended him to my family outside of Chicago. You can get the same look from the stores in Merchandise Mart and the high-end contractors will sell you those brands with a much higher rate. But working with James will help you achieve the high-end look as well as manage your budget well. Keep in mind this is not the average wood you will get for $5 per sqft. I feel I can trust James and his integrity which is the quality that we always value in any business that we want to work with. If you want to see his showroom, just make sure you call and make an appointment in advance. They are very responsive which I like as well. Thank you James and PurezaWood!

So quiet and serene, and the electric motor offers wonderful acceleration from a dead stop. And as long as you're near a supercharger station, you're all good for gas. Why don't more gangs members drive Teslas? I don't get it. Seriously. But I don't get a lot of things. Like the crazy ass shit that's under the bridge on Halstead near Chicago. What the fck is that. There's crane's and trucks and boatloads of sand and what not. I've been passing by there for years on my bike wondering what they're up to. Is Howard Hughes still alive? Is this some deep cover operation to retrieve a Russian sub? Can I get some free casino chips? Fortunately for me, every year the Chicago Architecture Foundation strong arms a bunch of places into opening their doors to the public. When I heard this dubious factory was opening up to the public this year, I made a bee line over. This is like my personal Guantanamo (that I pass by). Let's see what's up. As it turns out, they make a bunch of concrete here. First, a bunch of sand shows up on barges. Then, they mix it up. Next, they drop in trucks. It's quite simple really. But the scale is mind boggling. Those barges are really really big. And I have to say, the folks they made available for the tours were A+++ knowledgeable. Due to the fact that they actually do the jobs they were describing. We spent time with a materials expert who explained how concrete is made and how there are many kinds of concrete depending of the job need. The head dock guy showed us the process of unloading the barges and walked us through a maze of conveyor belts. Then we went up to the control room to see how it all came together. Pretty dope. I don't know why the Prairie materials people opened up their place up to the public. Not that many people showed up even. But dang, was pretty cool to get under that hood and see what's up.
