He didn't just do the job, he went out of his way to help me out. He showed me that my roofers hadn't done the balcony right; they'd put the roofing over the limestone instead of under it and skipped replacing some rotted wood. Because of that, I was able to get them back out to fix it for free. He also pointed out that the mold remediation guys had removed a light fixture box, which they're now coming back to replace at no cost. It's rare to find someone who actually looks out for you like that. Tony saved me a lot of money and headaches. I honestly won't do another project without him. It was my fault that I didn't go with him from the get-go. I had experiences with two others that were terrible: The first one installed a couple things that were falling out by the time he left, and the second one apparently doesn't need business because he didn't respond to me for over 10 days after coming to take a look at what I needed. But anyway, this review is about the AWESOMENESS that is Michael! He responded within a day of my contacting him, which was a great place to start. He asked me to let him know what I needed and set up a time within a week or so. Then he contacted me to let me know he'd had a cancellation and could come three days earlier if I wanted! Yes please!! Michael is so personable. I liked him from the moment I opened the door, literally. One of the first things he said to me was "Can I tell you something about this door?" Apparently he has lots of customers who don't realize their storm doors have a screen and wanted to show me (I already knew though!). The most important task I had for him on this visit was to reattach the handrail that had been removed by some movers, and which had before they removed it been loose and coming out of the wall. That handrail is now rock solid. I honestly think I could hang from it (and I'm not a small gal) and it would not budge. He patched the drywall from where it had been coming out of the wall, and then he checked the remaining four or five handrails in the house to make sure they are equally as strong. He also gave tips on some filters for the furnace, and suggestions for smoke detectors--which was very timely, because I had been researching them before he visited. He's not inexpensive but he's worth every darn penny. I won't ever use another handyman whilst I live here, and I'm already feeling sad in my heart that if/when we do move, it'll probably be to a near suburb or outlying neighborhood like Norwood Park that he doesn't service and I'm mourning the loss of this awesome dude as my go-to handymensch.

He was responsive, reasonable, and went through in detail his plan. If you don't properly flash it, you can end up with water issues. Ken removed the old microwave, vented the new microwave out the side of the house, and extended our backsplash, a project we'd not gotten around to doing. We were and still are very pleased with his work. He was also kind to our cat Mel who insisted on supervising his work up close and personal. I wouldn't hesitate to hire Ken again.

I immediately placed an order from my local hardware store and to have all the items (appliances) shipped to my home. The day before the scheduled appointment the repairman messaged me that he made a mistake and that he was supposed to schedule my appointment for the following day. He also mentioned that I did not send him a deposit to lock in my appointment as if I lost the appointment due to not paying him a deposit. I was confused! We never discussed a deposit or a deposit amount when I spoke with the handyman over the phone. It took 2 visits to measure to the satisfaction of Andersen to correctly identify the right replacement gasket (Andersen may have as many as 20 models). Before the repairs, I had to slam the door vigorously and finish by kicking the door in order to get it closed. Thieves robbed my next door neighbor, perhaps having seen how difficult it would be to open my door! After repairs, the back door can now be opened & closed like a normal door. It has proper weatherstripping that makes it more energy efficient. Good job, difficult, but mission was accomplished.
