I see this bar as a relaxed place. Relaxing. Shares a patio with St Mark's, who are also open at night. Sometimes i arrive and then decide if I'm in the mood for tea or tequila (I think one could theoretically even mix the two on the patio they share). Jesus is the only prominent decorative theme here in a way that is neither religious nor sacrilegious. Great selection of tequila and whiskey, and prices are quite reasonable. I think the servers are great. The place does get a bit busy on the weekends, like any decent bar, which makes people like me who are usually there at 5 on a Tuesday wonder why all these people are in my way. The Thin Man is a great vibe. Super simple bar, not very big (be prepared to wait for a seat to open up), random Jesus decor, all washed in red lights -- it's a vibe. They have homemade infused vodkas which are delicious, plus a long menu of cocktails, spirits, and beer. Plenty of local beers on tap. It's a great place to post up and have a conversation with friends or go on a date (though it's definitely a little loud for that). I live in the neighborhood and have been going to this bar for years. The new older white bald bartender is a ass and rude! Served me a flat beer. Tasted horrible. I told him and he butcher and moaned about nobody else complaining and they don't give out free beer. He then gave me a different beer. But charged me for the bad beer that was not drank! Was a big fan of the jalapeno tequila however the spiced wine tasted like warm Capt'n Crunch with Crunch Berries. Even though we got seats at the bar it was quite annoying having people standing at our backs and reaching over to order drinks and pay tabs. The Thin Man reminds me of my first few years in Denver. And for that reason, it holds a very nostalgic and boozy space in my heart. What hooked me? Of course, initially it was the good company and the overall vibes of the place. I just felt trendy being there as a 21 year old. And now, I know why. There are varying options of homemade infused vodkas behind the bar, specials always written on a chalkboard (if they have spiced or mulled wine written down, just do it), and a decent wine/beer selection. The selection is okay, but the price point is worth it. Better than a dive bar, but not much more expensive. I love the decor--market/Xmas style lighting overhead and art with a kitschy religious theme on the walls. If it gets busy, you'll be crammed in, but you'll be happy. For some reason, I don't mind waiting for a drink, plus the staff is friendly. Not necessarily attentive, but friendly. Do I love the smoking on the back patio? No, but for that reason, I avoid it. I luuuurrrvv this bar. It's so simple and charismatic, and I'm totally drawn to the red light. Plus I can walk here, so yaaaaas! There are so many phenomenal spots on 17th, and this is the kind of place that'll quickly make you a regular. It might get super crowded, you might have to stand, and you might have to wait awhile to get a drink, but for some reason you won't mind. Maybe it's all the gaudy Catholic-y decor on the walls, crucifixes and Jesus Cristos and Virgin Marys keeping an eye on you. It's really kind of bizarre and almost eerie and it's just the best. The atmosphere kind of envelops you and you wanna stay forever. The drinks are stellar. I adore their mulled wine when it's cold, and they always seem to have some kind of house infused special something or other on the menu. Otherwise, order your classic cocktail of choice and I promise it'll be fantastic. Wine and beer galore as well. Amazing laid back crowd and a great staff. Really cool bar with lots of religious pictures all over the walls. I have been here on a Friday around 8. It got super crowded by 9 and it was kind of hard to get drinks. Only two bartenders. The drinks were also very strong. Good beer selection! Would definitely go back. Ive also been on a Thursday and it was also super crowded. Like I said before, the only downside is that it often gets very crowded and usually only has one or two bartenders. They are awesome people though! And can calm down any impatient or upset customers. The bar itself is a really cool spot with pretty twinkle lights. This is a fun place to go to with a group of friends, maybe to show people from out of town. They have lots of house infused vodka and other drinks. They are very good but very strong! The inside of The Thin Man is so fun! Pink strands of lights, lots of crosses and pictures of Mother Mary. Very unique and hip. The best part is the homemade flavor-infused vodkas - you can get strawberry, vanilla, jalepeno, cucumber, basil - to name a few. I opted for cucumber vodka and ginger ale. Great vibes here for a local watering hole. I spent my first and third evenings here on my last trip to Denver and got sauced on wine and a shot of Fireball one night and infused vodka on another. Did I mention that I don't really drink? Loved the string of festive pink lights overhead, the Dia de los Muertes decor, and the one-too-many crosses on the wall above the bar. They have custom-infused vodkas and the one that I had the second night that I was there was a White Russian-esque flavor. It was terrible, but the flavor wasn't strong enough for me to have recognized that it was supposed to actually be a White Russian. There's a variety of seating, bar, high bar, booth, and patio. I met the owner and he was super nice and welcoming. My friend that I went with lives like half a block away. I'm sure that we'd be back here on my next trip to town...if she still lives there. Fun fact: the first time I ever set foot in Denver, I went straight from the airport to The Thin Man. For that reason, this spot will always hold a warm and slightly boozy place in my heart. Since that fateful day three years ago, I've only been back twice and both times have wondered "why don't I hang out here more?" Cheap drinks, eclectic decor, good vibes...what more do ya need? The Thin Man's interior is a busy, Bohemian-type of gorgeous. The ceiling is entirely covered in colorful lights and the walls are lined with old religious art and crosses. Everyone here feels like an old friend--I even met someone here who went to my college and runs a fun music venue downstairs. Drinks are one step above dive bar--this is the type of place that pours your just-okay wine to the brim of the glass, which I can get down with. They had local beers on tap and have a good amount of homemade infused vodkas in big glass containers behind the bar. This spot is tucked between St. Mark's and Vine Street, so I'd consider it a great spot for a post-work or date night cap. read more

For many years my friends have gathered here. I don't understand why. The staff is unfriendly and slow. I waited at the bar, front in line, for 10 minutes while three bartenders washed glasses, socialized, flirted, and completely ignored me, even serving customers who only just arrived. It's unacceptable. I don't know what I did, maybe I wasn't fake enough, or loud enough, or demanding enough, or cute enough, but it felt entirely personal. So, I walked away and sat on the patio for three hours and socialized with my friends, drinking and paying for nothing. Best bar for infused vodkas and funky decor (Jesus theme). There is a reason it is called the Thin Man besides the Jesus reference--the whole place is quite narrow. As a result, not an ideal place for groups over 4 as they don't have a lot of seating. There is a strange little room downstairs but other than a film fest crowd I am not sure you can sit down there. With that said, one of the great places to people watch (especially in the summer when it is warm), fun place to flirt and, for me, walking distance from my place so an extra star for that! Overall, I highly recommend it. Definitely a fun place to take out of town visitors if they want to see a funkier side of Denver and not the normal LoDo mediocrity. read more
