Energy Attic

Chances are if you live in an older home not built up to today's building codes, and even if you…read moredo, the insulation & ventilation in your attic may not be up to par with the current standards. My home was built in the late '70s, and the previous homeowners did nothing to rid the home of its original rockwhool insulation. The minuscule 6-8" of insulation that was once in my attic was ridden with rodent feces/urine, turning to dust, and wasn't as effective as it once was. This not only caused my home to have imbalanced heating/cooling, but also strained my HVAC system, making it work significantly harder than it otherwise would. Combine the lack of insulation with improper ventilation, and you set yourself up for a home that's not comfortable to live in, while in the process of taking precious dollars away from your pocket, all due to increased electric/gas bills. I called Energy Attic back in 2019 to see what they had to say about my attic, and they came out to do an energy audit. They filled me in on everything that was wrong, and what I could do to fix it. The estimate they provided was very insightful, breaking down the cost of every service, and allowing you as a homeowner to do what's best for your house and pocketbook. At the time I was unable to afford the job, so I decided to hold off on the project. Fast forward to early 2022, I gave them yet another call, and due to a mishap in getting the square footage of my home incorrect (was overestimated due to some vaulted ceilings), we decided to have them come back out to my house to give things a look. I spoke with their sales representative Mike for a decent amount of time, making sure I understood what was best. Mike's insight was incredibly valuable, and I ended up going with a whole host of things to improve my attic space: - Removing all old insulation - Sealing any air gaps - Spraying in fiberglass insulation to R49 (16") - Installing a radiant barrier - Upgrading existing fan with a solar fan Energy Attic ended up scheduling the job for the next week, and three of their employees ended up working for nine hours, knocking everything out of the park the same day. I've had a lot of contractors & such work on my home, and these gentlemen treated my home with dignity, cleaning up after themselves, and ensuring the job is done perfectly. Almost immediately I was able to notice the consistency in temperature throughout the home, and not just that, but also my HVAC system kicking on less. I'm stoked that the days of dealing with certain rooms being colder/hotter than others are gone, and my attic space can properly reflect any heat thrown at it away with the radiant barrier, and push any heat out that did get in with the solar fan, regardless of wind conditions outside. While a job like this is costly, making your home comfortable to live in year-round is very much worth it. I wouldn't hesitate to contact Energy Attic for any of your attic or HVAC needs. I'm pleased with what they have done, and I can't lie, my attic space sure does look better than ever!

I should go edit my Google review. I'm very irritated and…read moreeven after days of giving myself to calm down, I'm still angry. I know for a fact that I asked if the quote and payment we gave for attic insulation, included over the garage. I was told yes, and I know I asked at least three times, and was told yes. The two other people in the home, heard it as well. The over the garage was not insulated. Now I understand, that I should have checked before I left the other review. That's on me. I shouldn't have taken anyone else's word, and I should have gotten the ladder and looked. When I texted the man who came here, I was told yes "no, it only includes over living space". The insulation over the living space is nicely done. I am very pleased with that. Just very irritated that, what I was told was going to happen, and included, turns out it's not.

House was built in 1999, and definitely was stuggling in the summer like most do. Plus I have been in the HVAC industy 23 years so I understand R values and the importance of insulation for efficiency standards. Wally came out to look everything over and take measurements. He recommended that we top off the existing Rockwall insulation with 10" of new blown-in Rockwool Premium Plus, resulting in a new R value of R-40+ as there was nothing wrong with the existing so no need to remove it. Two man team came a couple weeks later, very professional and quickly blew in the new insulation, let me take a look in the attic to make sure it looked good, cleaned up and left. Even came back a week or so later to install an attic hatch for even better efficiency. Martha was who I dealt with the most via text and phone. She's very timely and will keep up with everything to make sure all goes smoothly. Just all around a great experience which seems to be lacking these days with many companies. Highly recommend using Insulation Commandos. Very fair pricing and amazing customer service!

Considering the access they have to your house, it was important that everyone was trust-worthy, courteous, and passed the German Shepherd sniff test...all passed with flying colors. The crew did a great job sealing everything and making it look as pretty as it was effective. Their pricing was also extremely fair, literally coming in at half the price of at least one other competitor. I do not predict needing their service for many years, but when I do have an insulation issue, these guys will be the first call I make.

At no point was there a push to sell or upsell. His main focus was to ensure that the customer got the most from his visit. Will be using their services to fix some of the issues identified. The duct cleaning was scheduled for a different day. The techs arrived early and were very efficient and thorough in the job they performed. The work and cleanup was completed to my satisfaction. The pricing for the duct cleaning is competitive in comparison to other companies in the market. I highly recommend the services of Climate Doctors for your duct cleaning and sanitation. So, apparently my review wasn't to Sam's liking, because he made sure to let me know that I (the…read morepotential customer) wasnt charged anything for the free consultation and estimate. Which....it was supposed to be free regardless, so congrats on sticking to that part. You laid on the floor and literally leaned over, taking photos upside down. There was one flexible duct (that could be relocated easily) that you, yourself .said that it would be an easy, straight shot. I even suggested zigging or zagging if need be, but you were adament that the best and easiest way would be straight under the floor. It went from "this'll be easy" to "well, we're looking at 7500 on the high end, because this is a complicated job". It isnt just that it was a price i dont like, it was a price that would blindside anyone. Especially since your website claims that services BEGIN at $300. No one said they expected the job to be $300. But if thats the starting point, I would really love an itemized invoice of how much everything costs, if im being quoted between 6500 and 7500. I was prepared to pay up to 1500 for that job, which is on the high end of reasonable. But for coring 8inches by 4.5 inches into concrete, a 15ft connection with 4 right angles and a damper...7500 "on the high end, it could be a grand less" is way out of the ballpark. In a nutshell, claiming that relocation services START at 300, it gives this client that notion that even the jobs you see as "complicated" wouldnt be more than 2000 "on the high end". Which is why i got the impression that you didn't want the job. Please don't backtrack like you didnt ask me to show you what your own website says as a way to overcome an objection to a price estimate. It doesn't give much confidence to the client when you're saying that your web technician made some kind of mistake. I also work in sales. And when you have a starting price listed, the price quoted usually bears some resemblance. Like i said, i was prepared to pay up to 1500 for this job, maybe even 2000. It sounds like maybe you just didn't like the review you got. You started great, and even the price was your perogative to charge, it's YOUR business. But don't backtrack, don't try and have two people give a review for a single interaction, and don't react to reviews that you don't like as though any normal person in any normal tax bracket wouldn't be offended by a 7500 quote when your site says services start at 300. Its giving "intrigue people with a low base price to get me in the door, and then it doednt matter if im hired, charge whatever, because i'll either get to go to the bahamas on them, or i'll at least get two good reviews." So im just letting people know. Sam is very personable, very approachable, and seems to really know what he is doing. That said, don't expect a reasonable price estimate commiserate with the pitch on the website. And look for Sam to be offended if he isnt given an exemplary review. ? For the record: ... It took four days because my mother was in town, and I waited until she left. Painting this picture of a potential client as though they maliciously attacked your business for pleasure is abbhorant. Especially when you said multiple times that you wanted a review. And especially since I simply said what happened and my impression. Just because you don't like it, doesn't make it an attack. There were things that i didnt like, as well. This has nothing to do with your level of work, because no work was performed. But you still stuck your qr code out and expected feedback. Which is what I put in my review. It's feedback. So you can be better. Right? Why press for a review even though you know that no work was performed...what did you expect we review? It's interesting, that in the week since, the website has changed, and there are no more free in-person estimates.

It was very honest about the cost. Made it pretty clear that I wouldn't be able to get a level one…read morecleaning. Also explained what he was doing very well. I was pleased with the work.
