Good place to go hang out after you leave from work or whatever it is that you are doing in the Grove at that point in time. Nice and spacious, and having two areas that feel entirely different is always a plus for me. We went there on trivia night and even though we were not competing, we were still very much engaged. The humor was dark and apt for the current audience and we had a great amount of laughs. James was paying attention to us from the moment we walked through the door, and gave us awesome service in general. I do have one complaint and it has to do with pricing. I was charged $19 and change for a Mule. 15 for the drink itself, and an extra charge for the ginger beer that the drink uses. I consider this to be egregious and I let them know on the spot that this was not going to happen. They gave me a price adjustment but needless to say I'm never having anything other than a beer there anymore - they might charge me for every mixer a drink contains. This is a great old school Miami bar I have frequented many times over the years. Indoor and outdoor seating and features a variety of foods from neighboring restaurants like Ariete, and Proof. Also known for being dog friendly! I've enjoyed happy hour, brunch and even holiday parties here. Always a great experience. Came in today for the usual Sunday brunch I have done in the past. Unfortunately today was disappointing to start because me and my party were informed by the waiter the excellent brunch they have is no longer on Sunday's but Saturday's . Though I have not been in sometime it did not mention this on the website, yet right on the chalk board when you walk in it still advertises the Sunday Brunch Drink Special clearly for $19. (Which is a great deal for all the variety of drinks included, highly recommend) I was hoping they would honor it but they did not. My party and I made the decision to stick around and give it a try anyways. I went ahead and started off with a Gin Bloody Mary that was quite balanced and refreshing. Nonetheless, today was the first day they featured their new BBQ menu by Johnnies BBQ (Maryland Style BBQ), which was exciting because I really enjoy BBQ. I ordered the St Louis Ribs which include a side of Coleslaw and Smoked Cheddar Rice Grits as well as pickles and toast($24) and a side of Green Beans with Pork Collar ($1 up-charge) I must say for someone who knows good BBQ that it was pretty good. The sides were not bad either. Excellent Portion! I washed this down with the tasty Florida Ave Lager they feature on draft. Though the service started off a little slow to get our drinks and the brunch is no longer on Sundays, I still think it's a great spot that I will continue to frequent! Listen, the Taurus is a phenomenal place. The back patio there is a whole fucking vibe. Great food, good beer selection, many different types of succulent pizzas, including the mythical "Potato Pizza", which as a discerning sophisticate would guess, has delicious potatoes on it. Real OG Sucio shit. They'll also play slow jams upon request because I'm a polite person, which is very important for my vibes in the pursuit of a good time in/around Coconut Grove. This place closes at 3am, which gives you another 2 hrs to check out a nearby establishment for discerning gentlemen (Playmates) on a full stomach of delicious food, cold beer, and strong vibes. 10/10, and one of the bartenders there is a caber tossing viking who can also fix your car. Beyond disappointed! I used to love this place so much both my husband and I have reserved the back for our birthdays in the past. Las night server Bianca and manager Danny (not sure I believe those are their names though) were extremely rude, aggressive and discriminatory. And make the night worse my tab was $160 for 5 beers and 1 Moscow mule. Needless to say they added drinks to my tab. Being a frequent visitor to the establishments in coconut grove I highly recommend Taurus. It's cozy atmosphere and welcoming employees make you feel like you're a regular here even if it's your first time. Their impressive bar includes a wide array of whiskeys, beers and has a great cocktail list. Whiskey is 30% off for Whiskey Wednesday's and they have just about any whiskey imaginable available to their guests. They previously shared a kitchen with Ariete but since their new sister location Navé opened some options are available from their menu as well (The Nave menu is available starting at 6pm). I was pleasantly surprised with the options available and opted for a Spinach and Artichoke pizza from the menu, it was perfectly toasted and tasty with a great hint of lemon that made it taste extra fresh. That being said... I couldn't finish this review without mentioning the Philly cheesesteak on The Ariete menu. I kid you not my friends suggest going to Taurus once a week just for the Philly cheesesteak. I haven't tried it yet but they HIGHLY recommend it! read more

I've been here plenty of times, but this time was disappointed a bit. It took half an hour to get our drink order taken. I walked next door to Nave, but no openings until 9. The Taurus has a larger back area so I'm sure were short staffed, as the front area seemed unattended. However, once we got service, our blue-haired (not as in senior lol) waitress was excellent. My second disappointment was their total menu change. They got a new chef that specializes in pizza and my white truffle mushroom pizza was great. But I like more out of my dinner than just pizza. A couple of mushrooms don't cut it as my dinner portion of veggies, and the only salad option was $18. There were no options for a side salad. Their menu was always limited, but now seems way more limited, and pizza options in the Grove are plentiful. I do walk by a lot so will continue to check, but unless they add some daily specials or more variety, I am unlikely to be back for awhile. read more

Why 5 stars? Because the Proof pop-up burger is enough to change your Wednesday plans. --- --- --- Taurus was somewhere around stop #17 on the day of Diandra's world famous food tour of Miami. Because she's one of the most thoughtful people ever born, she was sure to call ahead and reserve several burgers ahead of time for us. Apparently that's pretty necessary, because these burgers are only available on Wednesdays through the Proof pop-up and routinely sell out pretty quickly. It's a "basic" burger but it's done to perfection. The texture of the bun is ideal in what you look for in a burger bun. The meat to cheese ratio is ideal. The flavor of the meat is what dreams are made of. It's everything that's right with this world. The only bad thing about this experience is that we had already eaten a week's worth of food in the day before arriving. Next time I want to come here starving so I can enjoy this burger in all its glory. read more

Taurus is the closest thing you'll get to a Cheers-like place where everybody knows your name. Taurus has been there for many years & if you're a regular, you'll be treated more like an old friend rather than just another customer. I go here frequently with my father, who always seems to know everyone there. I've never had a bad time & always left with a happy stomach. Taurus isn't very big, but it's vibe is very relaxed & that's a rarity for a place right in the heart of the Grove. Taurus has a nice bar with several beers on tap, great food (especially their Burgers & Chicken Strips which I have uploaded many photos of) & they are dog friendly so feel free to bring mans best friend. I recommend going on one of their many themed nights. I have gone for the trivia night & it was great. Tonight was a Luau theme which was a lot of fun. Best Burger in Miami && Best Happy Hour Prices altogether? in one spot? Sign me up! I like to sit outside but my boyfriend prefers indoors but regardless, the service is always great. Friendly Staff & thankfully they dont always have stupid sports playing. The other day there was Stand-up comedy playing which is a cool feature for a bar. Everyone was tuned in & laughing while drinking off their Happy Hour menu...pretty neat moment I must say. Plus, everything else in the Grove is "pinky-up" and hard to deal with. Four years of living here in the winter and we have never stopped in for a bite to eat. Not sure what was holding us back. We aren't whiskey drinkers but love good casual food. Good casual food is exactly what this place is about. Not just good but really good! We ordered like it was our last supper. My husband had the fries which he said were great. Taurus is a great local bar with a great selection of alcoholic drinks and beers. I joined the WAKA volleyball team and we would meet every Sunday at this bar. I've tried their Mac and cheese which is well balanced and delicious. The ribs are so good too and come of the bone. This bar is dog friendly, so bring your pets over. The food takes longer than expected but it's worth the wait. There is metered parking available so close to the bar. read more

I love The Taurus, but the waitress we just had had an unacceptable attitude. We came here with a friend whose mom was so excited to return bc she had been to the bar thirty some years ago. Well, this waitress almost ruined our experience. It's a good thing we like each other and have plenty to talk about. I've never had worse service for drinks. She told us - with the aforementioned attitude - that we had to go get our own water and deliberately ignored requests for more drinks. Doesn't make any sense considering she makes her money on tips. The drink was fine but after over 20 minutes of waiting for the burger, I asked. "It'll come when it comes," replied the waitress. Taurus is the kinda old school miami spot that you love to find. Nestled in the heart of the grove, it offers a really good chill vibe, awesome drinks, and mediocre food. A solid find 4/5. We came here on a Sunday for brunch (which was really lunch, since they didn't open until noon on Sunday) and ordered from the select bfast menu. With friends, 2 breakfast burritos were ordered, a burger, a burrata, and the eggs benny. The good all came out in a reasonable time and the staff was attentive to the bottomless drinks and refills on water that were ordered. Taurus has a HUGE space. There is a place out front, let's call it the porch, where you have a straight view of the road and that has a vibe like an old Irish pub. Very chill. On walking inside past this area, there is a classic dimly lit bar area setup, again, akin to the Irish pub vibe. HOWEVER, if you were to ask anybody where the bathrooms are there is a THIRD area beyond the bar room that is an outside patio area with seating and another outdoor bar. Very very cool! Aside from the baller layout of the place, the food for breakfast brunch special was alright. Nothing great. I have definitely had better eggs benny at worse restaurants, mine came out on a too dry of an English muffin and I couldn't taste the hollindaise sauce. They added a chorizo patty on my eggs benny that made it more burger like and was something I thought added little value. The baratta, stated in the menu it came out with fruit and extra virgin olive oil and herbs, had none of those things and was more like an appetizer than an actual entree item. A little disappointing. The burger and breakfast burrito were good, but again, nothing outstanding. The short-- if you want to go to a chill relaxed atmosphere at a classic Miami spot with awesome drinks and plan on staying away from the food Taurus is a place that will not disappoint. This is our neighborhood bar. It is amazing how it has transformed over the years. You always run into someone you know, and the same locals are there constantly. It feels like a community bar. The menu is ever evolving, but currently Proof has a pop up pizza oven on the back patio. The pizza is awesome, as is the Proof burger (only available on Wednesdays). Otherwise the Taurus burger is available every day and equally awesome! The bar is a whiskey lover's dream, as there are tons of whiskies to choose from. They also infuse their own liquors and have a huge beer menu. Trivia is on Wednesdays and Comedy Night is on Thursdays. If you're a local, you gotta hit up Taurus on the regular. If you're a tourist, you'll want to make a stop here. VERY dog friendly. Street parking and valet. read more

Came in for brunch the last weekend, as part of a family birthday. The brunch menu is limited but all the food I sampled was delicious. I went with the Burger (no bun - keeping it #keto). The place has a very cool ambiance but has an "old must" smell.. also, we felt the prices were a bit high.. these are the main reasons my review is a 3 as opposed to a 4. I don't visit the grove often so i'm not sure if I will return - honestly, there are better brunch options in the area - but it was a cool one-time visit. The waitress asked us for a credit card before we even put in our order for God knows what reason we ended up paying cash and she still charged our credit card $80 which we had to fight to get back. Well I sure do wish I could have tried this Wednesday burger all of my friends/co-workers talked about. But after a home cooked Cuban meal, I couldn't have eaten another thing. So after said meal, my buddy and I wanted a place to hang and grab a night cap. He suggested this place and so we went. The atmosphere of this place was really cool. I liked that it wasn't too loud and great for good conversation. We were quickly served a drink since the crowd wasn't bad at all. With all of the space that they have, I could see this place being packed on a busy night. But it was perfect for what we needed. But nothing too over the top. From the sounds of this burger, it sounds like my next trip needs to be on a Wednesday. Then maybe we are talking 5 star material. read more

The reason for the one star is because the shrimp tacos were the best I've ever had but everything else was horrible I used the menu from yelp to order and they didn't have anything from that menu they told us to download a menu which was 95% alcohol no food, they also advertise hot wings but only have lemon pepper wings which are oddly sweet, I also ordered their savage fries and they turned out to be fries, with a little green onions and a slice or two of sandwich cheese. We were looking for a spot to celebrate my boyfriend's birthday and decided on this spot. We chose this spot because it offered Saturday brunch with an option for bottomless drinks and they served burgers so it was exactly what we were looking for! We arrive around 1:30 pm on Saturday and it was pretty dead. Apparently they had a private event going on outside so the brunch menu was limited to only four brunch items and much to our disappointment the burger was not one of the choices. We both decided to start with the bottomless drinks while we decided on our entrees. What We Tried: Bacon Rye Old Fashioned: We were very curious about this drink so we started off with these. Very interesting drink and I didn't want to like but I did. The smokiness of the bacon was not overpowering and brought a great twist to an old classic. Mimosas: I appreciated the fact they were made to order. Tiny bit of OJ with plenty of champagne. Stack of Pancakes with Whiskey Maple Syrup: We ordered the small stack of pancakes, which came with three, warm, fluffy pancakes topped with butter. I personally loved the whiskey maple and yes it tastes just as you'd expect, like whiskey and maple. Eggs Benedict: THIS! We weren't sure what to expect, but it was better than we imagined it would be. The gruyere biscuit was delicious. We were expecting chorizo crumbles when we read it on the menu but instead we were pleasantly surprised that they were big, plump chorizo patties. The hollandaise sauce had a great consistency to it and the fried shoestring potatoes definitely added a great amount of crunch and a bit of saltiness to complete the dish. Definitely one of the best eggs benedict I've ever had. Charlotte and Felipe provided us with wonderful service and were extremely hospitable. After hearing good things about this bar, we decided to go on a Saturday night. Fairly early around 8 pm. It was not busy at all. So one would think the wait staff would be attentive. Unfortunately our female attendant was slow, would disappear for long gaps and would forget what we asked for when she did show up! The Old Fashioned with Buffalo Trace was average - disappointing when that was what we were looking forward to. Worth maybe $12-$15 definitely not the $22 we paid for! Taurus is a Grove institution. It's a neighborhood spot where beer and whiskey is always flowing. Been there a few times in the past couple months and haven't had a bad experience. Servers and bartenders are efficient -- drinks come out fast and furious. Make sure to stop in on a weekend, preferably when there isn't a big game on; the place can get packed for football. There's a Saturday and Sunday popup going on right now called Johnnie's Pit Beef, which serves up some monster sandwiches loaded with all sorts of meat. Well worth checking out -- get the chili with your order, too. Ultimately, though, it's just a bar. Go in with tempered expectations -- if you're looking for more of a dining experience, go to Ariete next door -- and you'll leave a happy camper. How can you not like cheap drinks? read more

Luckily, Diandra M knew the scoop on these burgers and planned the most amazing day of eating throughout Miami. It happened to be a Wednesday when we arrived so we finished the day with Proof Burgers at Taurus. By the time we got there, we had had some amazing eats throughout the day so this burger had a lot to live up to. Plus adding in the hype of a burger that's so amazing you need to reserve your patty in advance. I have to say that we came in on a burger mission and some of the group was short on time so we didn't truly get the experience of Taurus. A front porch and back patio make for beautiful scenery, albeit smoker-filled at times. Service is quick and attentive, Ian makes a mean lemon-drop martini quickly and remembers the laundry list of drinks you ask for.
