We were pleasantly surprised when we were seated .They immediately served us yummy ,fresh ,popovers with strawberry butter. This alone is worth coming for ! They also gave us complimentary consumme ( a cup of chicken broth ) from the chef , while we were checking out the menu. The ambiance is very nice. The service was great, as well. Everyone dining was dressed really nice and seemed happy and relaxed. It was Just a good vibe all around. They have indoor and outdoor seating available. It was a beautiful day, so we sat outside. I chose the salmon tacos . 2 large salmon tacos were served with chips and salsa. The chips did not look enticing nor edible , so I skipped those. The salmon tacos were good. the salmon could've been cooked a little, less as it was a bit dry , but ,the sauce was yummy ,and I squeezed a lemon on it and it fixed it. The taco also had cabbage slaw and avocado. I would get these again. I could only eat one ,after the filling popover, so it's definitely enough to share with someone. I would just ask for a different accompaniment, than the chips and salsa, that came with it. My hubby was excited that they had a fish Reuben on the menu ! He ordered it and was extremely disappointed. It was toasted ,not grilled, but that wasn't the issue. The fish was so dry and tasted fishy. It loooked old. Fortunately, he switched the chips for the fries ( pre order after seeing everyone else's fries while walking to our seat ) so at least he had those and 1 of my salmon tacos. I definitely would steer clear of the fish Reuben. I saw plenty of other options I'd try on the menu ,next time we are shopping at Neiman Marcus and are hungry. For a hidden restaurant it gets pretty busy but not overcrowded. The vibe is very chill. There is a bar and beautiful indoor sitting area. Only negative is that it gets loud in there. The tables outside on the balcony patio is lovely! There are fans all over and the tables are spaced far enough to have a nice peaceful meal. The food is really good! Today I received better customer service from the metro rail attendant than I did at Mariposa. From Honolulu to Dallas, this is one of my homes away from home. But today was a disappointment starting with the hostess and continuing to the food and service. This was my first long trip to Miami, and as soon as I saw my hometown favorite, Neiman Marcus, was here, I immediately bookmarked it. I arrived during a torrential downpour and made my way to the third floor, but when I didn't immediately find the restaurant, which is well hidden near the elevators, I went to the first floor and asked. The kind woman thought I had asked where the restroom was. Oops. The next sales associate I found was buried in her phone. She never looked up at me and seemed completely put out that I asked her where the restaurant was. This was sign #1 that I was not in Dallas (or Honolulu) anymore. Unfortunately, the escalator from the first to the second floor is broken, which required I take the elevator. Once I finally found the restaurant, the hostess seemed similarly annoyed with me and tried to deter me from dining, saying it would be up to 35 minutes before I could be seated. As a former restaurant hostess, I understood her game. The restaurant was not busy, but ok. (How could she have known I had traveled from Dallas via 2.5 years in South America in a torrential downpour during a global pandemic to be here?) She asked if I preferred outdoor or indoor. I always prefer outdoor during pandemics, but I just wanted lunch. I said I didn't care. She seemed surprised, then she took my phone number. The system knew me and sent me a text message to confirm my reservation. Then I went shopping. Thirty minutes passed. In Hostessing 101 they teach you to surprise and delight the customer by giving a 10-minute padding to your seating estimates. I thought my phone was broken. Had I missed the text saying my table was ready? I knew the restaurant would be closing at 5 and I was so hungry after schlepping all over Miami in the rain, museum hopping and whatnot. Finally, after an hour had passed since my phone registered my res, I went upstairs. The hostess was nowhere to be found. When she finally reappeared, I asked her where I was on the list. "Oh, you're next." Uh huh. The servers were clearly closing the restaurant. The bartenders were gone. Another customer appeared and asked which way to the parking garage. The hostess responded that she's not familiar with the area. What?!? This mall is tiny. It's outdoor. There are only two department stores and only two garages. I've been here an hour and I can tell you where they both are. I gave the customer directions to her Nordstrom garage. And I waited, browsing the teas, nuts, and Truff Sauces, until finally, the hostess decided to seat me inside (there was only one small party outside). It was a bit longer before a server appeared with my long-awaited popover and consummé. The consummé was delicious. The popover was burned. I wondered if this was punishment for being the last customer seated? Then I looked around and saw everyone's popover was too dark. It was not like Dallas (or Honolulu). Same was true of the spiced ice tea. The salad was good. The hot tea was great. The music is a bit too loud. My server continually asked me to repeat what I said. I was rushed out even though there were several other diners finishing (not in S. America anymore). It was a let down to be sure. read more

I had lunch with my family. We ordered tuna as an appetizer, salmon as a main entrance and couscous with chicken. The quality of food was fresh and good. The service was kind and friendly from the hostess to the waitress. They are dog friendly. This restaurant is located inside Newman Marcus after crossing the corner store. It's worth it and it's much better to eat in Mariposa than in the restaurants located inside the mall. I have eaten several times in the Merrick Park's restaurants and they are not good at all because the quality of food and flavor is bad. So it's better to eat here if you are shopping around. I had lunch at Mariposa today with nine of my friends to celebrate my birthday. Ruven, our waiter, provided amazing service which added to the beautiful atmosphere and the fabulous food. Possibly one of the worse experiences I've encountered at a restaurant the last few years. A restaurant that is not normally busy as it hides in the 3rd level of the Neiman Marcus Coral Gables store, told me there were no tables available when I tried to grab a quick bite for lunch. And that there was at least a 30 min wait! I'm a 39.5 weeks pregnant and was with my senior mother and meeting my husband for lunch. Not knowing my husband had arrived before me, I attempted to call him to let him know of the wait, to find out they had JUST sat him down at a table for 4. As I approached the table there were at least 4 more tables open with no "reserved" signs. Interesting how the white American male gets a table with NO wait and the Latin pregnant woman has to wait 30 min IF she's lucky enough to get a table. I have emailed corporate and will bring this to my attorney. Enough is enough. A policy of racism and discrimination. Food is okay and service is poor as they're highly understaffed. read more

I had to ask the hostess for our waiter - he NEVER again showed his face. I requested water for my 89 year old aunt and got it after the 2nd request at the end of the meal. I asked to speak to the manager, Jodie. She barely apologized and said she would have to speak to him. That's it. I had to ask the busser for the check and eventually our server reappeared to hand me my credit card back with a smile... I told him the service had been seriously lacking this evening, to which he was stunned. "Jodie's talk" didn't go far at all apparently. It has a really relaxing atmosphere since it's nice and breezy. Other than the view, I was not impressed. The menu has a nice assortment of items, from sandwiches and soups, to full entrees. The complimentary bread is yummy, and the utensil holder is super cute. I ordered a raspberry tea which tasted like Kool Aid and was 5 dollars, bad choice. My friend and I ate here today for lunch after a bit of shopping (keep in mind, I don't make enough money to actually buy anything in Merrick Park, but she does!). My friend ordered the duck (from the daily specials menu), while I kept it simple with a turkey club. I will say the prices are pretty reasonable, considering you're eating inside Neiman Marcus, and in Merrick Park. My turkey club was $13, and came with homemade potato chips. The four parts of the sandwich surrounded a small mixed greens salad, topped with carrots and almonds and tossed in a poppy seed vinaigrette. The salad was just okay, but the sandwich was delicious. I could only eat half of it, so I got the rest of it to go. And while I didn't try it, I'd venture to say the duck was good, because she cleaned her plate. My friend was in the mood for something sweet, so we decided to split a dessert. We were freezing though (bring a light jacket if you're going to sit inside), so we asked if we could have dessert outside. Our waiter was very accommodating and moved us out on the patio. Having received the infamous Neiman Marcus cookie recipe chain letter quite a while back, I figured they must be pretty good, so we gave them a try. They are QUITE good. The grilled mahi tacos were delicious and fresh, as was the BBQ shrimp wrap. Since the fare is relatively light, you will have room to try one of their homemade desserts.
