Our first time back since Chef Jonathan's departure. Not sure what he could've done to warrant a change of direction, his food was dynamite and maybe as important, he ran an organized kitchen. The new situation is really lacking in several respects. I won't get into them all, as everyone has a rough night- but it was sufficiently negative enough, that I won't be going back absent a complete redesign. Such a shame. My family (of 3) had never been to Hurleyville and we had tickets to see a performance at the performing arts center which was located right next doo to this restaurant. We had 45 minutes before curtain, so we thought there was plenty of time to have a drink and perhaps a bite to eat. Although the place was close to vacant, it took 10 minutes to clean the table we were at and take our order. Once it was taken, we waited patiently as we saw food and drinks go by that were taken to a party of four that was seated after us. We waited and waited and finally had to go in to see what was taking so long. When we finally got our order (after waiting 30minutes) we only had 5 minutes to eat before showtime. We each had a couple of bites and asked for to-go containers and our check. What we did eat was lousy and not worth the wait. My "golden" sesame noodles were dripping in oil and my son's "California" burger was in reality nothing more than a pre-packaged "Dr. Praeger's" burger (the worse of the worse when it comes to veggie burgers) and his fries were stale. What we were left with was the fun pleasure of taking our food with us into a small, packed auditorium space. All the manager could say was that our order took a long time because we didn't tell our waitress that we had a performance to attend to. Say what? We went to Tango Cafe in a group of six in late May, early June. We all looked at the menu first and decided, based on the choices, to go there. When we arrived, we were handed menus that had none of the same selections on it. We were told that they were under new management and had completely redone everything. The waitress actually looked annoyed when we noted that redoing the online menu would have been a wise thing to include in the revamp. We asked about vegan options--a thing the online menu had--and were told they could make some things vegan, like the humus plate. The woman who ordered that was brought cheese as part of the plate. Rather than replacing it with something of substance, they brought her carrot sticks. That's not even the "best" part. We all ordered different meals and two of the party were violently ill that night and the next day from the food. (I had one french fry and thought it tasted nasty, and they both ate the fries...) One person sent an email to the Cafe, rather than posting her comments as a review, and was asked to "give [them] a second chance," without offering anything to entice someone who'd had food poisoning there an incentive. The tango is under new management so disregard any reviews on yelp. The service is great, as is the food. We sat at the bar since it was pretty busy. Went there for a Sunday brunch. Great location and beautiful day so we sat outside. Service was attentive as soon as we walked in! Ordered the cinnamon rolls and chicken and waffles Cobb salad. The cinnamon rolls were gigantic (we ended up taking one home) and delicious! The salads were fantastic. Chicken was perfectly fried, seasoned nicely, and moist inside. The waffles were delicious and didn't require any syrup. Ended up getting some wings to go for later. Chef stopped by our table at the end to check in on us which was a very nice touch. Great first experience and we will definitely be back!!! read more

The Tango Cafe used to be my go to favorite. Recently a new staff or management is in place. How sad I am. Ate there yesterday for the first time since the change and was grossly disappointed. The food could have come from a Mall cafeteria. Where is that fabulous chef they used to have and the top notch manager. Probably will look for another place for great dining. read more

We had heard that the Tango cafe had amazing food and a great vibe so we decided to eat there before attending a show. I can tell you that the atmosphere was great, the food was incredible, and the service was second to none. We loved being able to see the chefs work their magic in the kitchen as well as the exec chef at the pass making sure that all was up to her standards. She had a smile when she complimented a chef and when there was something not up to snuff; she handled that discreetly and professionally. The bartender was incredibly busy yet our cocktails and other drinks were delivered to us in a very timely manner. Attended a murder mystery dinner at the venue recently and simply put, they BOTCHED it and ruined the night. Dinner orders were taken days in advance so they had full visibility. it seems they did not pick the right menu, prep, plan or staff properly. 30min to bring out salads. Waited OVER an hour for entrees. There were a few kids in the venue and they clearly were hungry from waiting so long. The adults were clearly annoyed looking at their watches. Long periods of wait time with nothing to do as they paused the show waiting for the food to come out. complete mood killer. When the food came out it was not at the right temp, some entrees were cold and others just warm - after an hour of waiting for the food, it could have at least been more than warm! Then, they even ran out of dessert :( SIGH. Event took 3+ hours when it was scheduled for only 2 hours total. overall very disappointing. the murder mystery component couldn't save the night, bad plot, zero intrigue or sense. it's too bad had looked forward to a fun night and the tix were not free! read more

We were the first to arrive at the restaurant and yet it took over 40 minutes for the zombie waitstaff to bring us the food and drink menus (we asked for them no less than three times). We were completely ignored for the first 15 minutes, even though there was hardly any other patrons. The dish I wanted to order was sold out. On two occasions we were brought beverages or dishes we didn't order (meanwhile one of the dishes we actually ordered took so long that we almost canceled it). The table next to us returned their dish because they found a hair in it. The $15 strawberry mojitos were mediocre. The fried chicken sandwich was basic but OK. The sherbet was a tiny serving scooped by someone who seemed to have never scooped ice cream in their life. To complete the picture, the restaurant has the charm of a big-box store and insists on having bad live music played by a band that should have stayed in retirement. read more

Food and dessert was great! Limited options but still somehow a lot to choose from if you get what I'm saying. Service was a little slow but the servers were pleasant and kind.
