Well... I recently stopped by for the for the first time since it's the closest to my house. so I walk in, no one greets me. they look at me, but don't greet me at all. They even assisted a customer that came in after me. Once I was finally assisted at the front desk, the person assisting was not warm or friendly at all. She was even quick to cut me off and deligate about what items she wanted to hear about first. The same way she didn't greet me coming in, is the same way she didn't say bye on my way out. Hopefully, their stitch work is better than their customer service. Nevertheless, I will never return to this location simply because of their rudeness. read more

I had an expensive silk multi layered dress that was 3 sizes too large and Quan tailored it to fit me like a glove. She worked late to get my dress ready for me before I left. Quan is amazing and has a gift and if I lived within a 50 mile radius I would never go anywhere else. Probably one of Virginia Beach's best kept secret. read more

These ladies are always friendly, affordable and skillful. We couldn't have made it through my daughter's wedding without them. They rushed things, repaired a tear, met us at off hours and generally saved the day. We have now had everything from swimsuits to jeans altered by them and they come through on everything. My daughter lives out of town but when she comes in once a year or so, she is greeted warmly and they always check to be sure she was happy with her last request--even asking to see photos! Helma is a wonderful, honest businesswoman and I would recommend her to everyone. read more

This was my first time getting something tailored, and the ladies here did an amazing job! I am the maid of honor in my little sister's wedding, and the dress came in way too big and too long... (even though I am 6 feet tall??) They were able to shorten all three layers, tighten the bodice, and shorten the straps in about a week, and at a decent price. (and it is worth the price because they are very skilled!). They even allowed me to come in early to make sure I would be able to get my dress on time during mandatory overtime at my job! I tried on the dress last night and I'm so so happy. It went from way too big dress, to a perfectly fitted dress that looks like it was made for me. I'm so excited to wear it this weekend. Had my $350 J.Crew coat tailored here. I was very nervous because this was their signature Cocoon coat and it has a dolman sleeve and I wanted the sleeves shortened and made slimmer and also wanted the chest to be taken in. I am a clothing designer/ pattern maker/ sewer so I knew this was going to be challenging. But when I got it back, you couldn't even tell I had it altered and the sleeves and body fit exactly the way I wanted to. Would definitely recommend! read more

I absolutely LOVE this place. The ladies are wonderful to work with and do a fantastic job at a reasonable cost. I went to 4 or 5 different tailor shops around the Norfolk/VA Beach area a few months ago to take in and hem a floor-length gown for a work function. I stopped at Eda's first. She quoted me over $80. No thanks. I went to a few more places that either had closed shop or quoted me high prices. I came to The Tailor Shop and was given a VERY fair price. On top of that, she told me that I should probably have it taken in first, then see if it needs to be hemmed. I'm so glad she told me to do that, because once it was taken in, it didn't need to be hemmed. I take EVERYTHING to them now. I trusted them with my Lazaro wedding dress when it ripped and they did an amazing job repairing it. I can't even tell where it was fixed! Stop here first if you need anything tailored. They do amazing work for very reasonable prices. read more

Bait and switch technique- when you tell someone one thing and then don't honor it or quote a higher price in person. Said dress could be done in a week and then wouldn't honor same commitment in person, simply because it was a "white dress"-- though not a wedding dress. Customers should keep that in mind when calling in to determine if you can get alterations here. Price and time quote may change. read more

I will never go anywhere else after visiting here. The seamstress here was so nice and welcoming. I recommend coming first thing when they open that way you have the shop to yourself and not too many people. The seamstress was knowledgeable and explained perfectly how my dress will look after she hemmed it. My dress was a bridesmaid dress from David's Bridal so a chiffon material. The dress will take only a week to get back! I was afraid it would take longer being that the wedding is only 3 weeks away. I am very pleased at the customer service. read more

Helma was so nice and did fantastic work! We ordered a formal gown online for my daughter's Ring Dance. The dress needed to be taken in on the sides and front as well as hemmed. It was difficult to work around the lace and fabric, but she was able to figure it out. It fit so perfectly on my daughter once she was done. Superb job and rates were very reasonable. The Tailor Shop did such an amazing job altering my wedding dress for me. I bought my dress from Silk, so it only came in one size, which was too big for me. They were able to take it in so it fit me perfectly. I didn't like the train on my dress either, and they were able to remove it no problem. I was worried that with the amount it needed to be taken in, the hem it needed, and the train removal that it would be very expensive, but it was actually very affordable. They did a great job and were very friendly. My dress looked so beautiful for my wedding! I have found a new seamstress that I plan on using from now on! read more

I brought a maternity dress and needed it to hem for a maternity shoot the next day. My husband found this place online and I hoped they could do same day hemming. Unfortunately, when I called them, they said no due to having other customers and wouldn't be able to which was understandable. I called two more places. One place said no and the other didn't answer. I was about to give up, but the lady from this place called me back asking if I found a place. I said no unfortunately I'm still looking and asked me is it a bridesmaid dress. I told her no, it's a maternity dress and asked if it was a long or short dress. I said it was a long dress, but since I'm short, I needed about 3-4 inches cut off. She said if I could get there in 30 minute, she has an employee who can work on it until 2 in which they close. It was about 12:20pm and I hurried as fast as I could. They were able to hem my dress in less than an hour and did a great job at a great price. read more

Very rude. I stood there for five minutes before they even acknowledged me. Then she proceeded to take two other customers that came in behind me before me when my order was already paid for and supposed to be ready for pickup. Then she proceeded to tell me it will be another 30 minutes because they have to iron it yet. I believe she was the niece of the owner but very rude demeanor not worth my time or money regardless of how good the tailor ship is. read more

They scheduled me for a private fitting time (before their normal business hours) so they could give me the attention I needed. They completed my dress quickly and were very reasonably priced. This Tailor Shop has been here for as long as I can remember. Just revisited the other day to take my jeans in to get hemmed and taken in and it hasn't changed, which is a good thing! I actually took my prom dress in high school here to get altered and they did a wonderful job! With several ladies working, the turn around time is fast and if the results aren't as you wish the first time, they will work on it again until it's just as you wish. read more

I just got my wedding gown back from alterations yesterday, and I am SO incredibly pleased with it! I heard of The Tailor Shop last year when I was maid of honor for a friend of mine, and had my bridesmaid dress altered here. When it came time for me to choose a tailor for my own wedding dress, I knew exactly where I wanted to go. My dress was incredibly complicated--I'm very short, it was very long, and they had to take all the lace appliques off the bottom, shorten the dress, and hand-sew them all back on. I was incredibly nervous, because I wasn't sure how it would turn out--I shouldn't have been. They did a beautiful job. The dress is the perfect length, it fits perfectly, and I'm so excited to wear it on my wedding day in May. They were meticulous, and you can tell that they absolutely love what they do--their main concern was making sure I look lovely and feel good on my wedding day, and thanks to them, I will. They are incredibly talented, reasonably priced, and just wonderful to work with. If you're a bride, a bridesmaid, or just needing something altered, you can't go wrong.
