Located in Downtown Norfolk, it's easy to walk over and usually, there are a few street parking spots right in front of her store. The small business owner Bo is a sweet Korean lady that takes pride in her work and provides amazing service! There were a few times I had a bridesmaid dress I needed to be hemmed in a pinch and Bo made it happen. From bridesmaid dresses to simple dress pants that I need to be hemmed for my short legs, I've always had a great experience. The shop is cute with string lights in the front. I have brought several pieces of clothing for alterations and they did excellent work until the last time. I brought in a pair of high waisted pants to have shortened. I had them pin the pants for me and when I picked them up, they were above my ankles. They tried to remedy the situation but there was not enough material left. Excuses were made that I must have had them low on my waist. Impossible, they were snug high waisted pants. No accountability and did not pay for the pants they ruined, just refunded the $20 hemming charge. I'm out $120 and they lost a regular customer. read more

I have to take a lot of things to get hemmed and adjusted (thank you, short genes), and everything I take to Grace's Tailor Shop is perfectly done with a fair price. She will mend tears in pants, fix snags in sweaters... name it, she will fix it. I cannot adequately express how excellent this place is. I had a bunch of dresses that I needed to have taken in, and she always measured carefully and the dresses were always perfectly tailored once she did her handiwork. Customer service here is exceptional, and each garment is carefully measured and verified with each client to make sure it's the perfect fit. The quality of each item is exceptional. She's tailored dresses, jeans, and even t-shirts for me! She goes above and beyond - even when I moved away from Norfolk, I had a work trip that brought me back to Virginia Beach and I forgot a pair of jeans. Amazing!!! Friendly!! Detail oriented! I showed up here with my wedding dress after my red flight had landed Thursday morning. My wedding was Saturday. Grace's tailor shop was a last ditch effort to fix the straps on my dress that my tailor in California mistakenly tightened when I asked her to make them looser. As soon as I landed, I began calling tailors and many of them were low key rude and hinted at the fact that I was irresponsible for waiting too long. I went to pick up two military covers (hats) that had rank and Last name tag added. So a total of 4 items. When I went to pick them up, a week later, they were not ready. So I didn't have time to wait, so another week went by and when I went to pick them up the rank was crooked and their was a stitch line through the name tape. She fixed the rank then and there (still looks off but had to go). Cost $20. I need to get my tops done but nervous about taking them to this shop. read more

I can't say enough good things about this shop. I bought a suit from a retailer and it took longer than expected to come in. When it finally arrived for pickup, it was the night before a big interview for a promotion, and the tailor at that shop had already gone home. I work just down the street from Grace's Tailor Shop, so I stopped in the next morning on my way to work. I wasn't sure they could accommodate such a rush request (I dropped the suit off at 7:00 am and needed it by Noon). Bo assured me she could have it done in time. I went to work and after roughly an hour or so I was notified that my alterations were complete. I rushed back over to the shop and picked it up and it was PERFECT! After a great experience here a few years ago, I recently brought a bridesmaid dress in for alterations. I learned that Grace sold the business to a woman who worked there for years. After seeing a review that similar alterations were expensive on a rush, I made sure I brought my dress there 6 weeks before I'd need it. Well apparently the rush had nothing to do with the exorbitant prices. It cost me $180 for the alterations!!!!! It actually cost more to alter my dress than the dress cost on its own. I have no issues with the quality of the work. But I wasn't told how much the alterations would be. To say my mouth hit the floor would be an understatement. I found this place via other Yelp reviews and needed to get a chiffon bridesmaid dress both hemmed and tailored. I only had 7 days before the wedding so I needed some place that I thought wouldn't mess it up because I wouldn't have time to fix it. For starters, the owner was extremely nice and professional and the store itself was comfortable to change in. I never received a price quote for the job but at that point I didn't have many options. She spent about 30 minutes taking my measurements and was very thorough. When I picked the dress up, the hem job was done perfectly (4 layers of fabric), but the rest was entirely too small. I could barely barely get it zipped up, it gave me a back "muffin top", and the shoulder strap was so tight it was digging into my shoulder. The shoulder strap even ripped during the reception. On top of that, she charged me $140. That's right. $140. Will not return. read more

My fiance needed his suit to be completely fitted - from the jacket to the pants. We brought the suit in at 3:50PM on Thursday (shop closes at 4:00PM) and needed it the next day before closing. Grace (I believe that's the shop owner?) assured us that this would be no problem. In fact, we ended up getting the suit around 2PM the next day and it was perfectly done. It was also steamed and ironed so it looked ready to wear. We were completely satisfied with the service and I can definitely trust this place to bring items in for alteration. The only reason this place doesn't get 5 stars is because we paid $88 for the alteration. This is extremely steep but given the circumstances that $88 were well spent. read more

This place is awesome! My husband and brother in law had some custom suits made in Reston, VA by Davelle's. Well, long story short, they came out horribly wrong. (see review for that store) Grace and her assistant practically took the whole suit apart and re-stiched it to make it look like a suit is supposed to fit. We are talking MAJOR alterations, not just a cuff shorted here and there. She even took apart the stitching that was right but was machine sewn and re-stiched it by hand so that it would have the quality of a hand-made custom suit. She did all this in a few hours the day before the wedding! She had my husband and brother in law come in at 730am so that she could take proper measurements and have time to make the alterations before the wedding. What a sweet lady! Crew winter jacket with large buttons on the front with seamless threading on the inside that all needed reinforced) and it was no problem for her.
