Quick and friendly - reasonable prices for downtown Norfolk. Would definitely use them again.

Bo is fantastic! Friendly and welcoming, professional, and reasonably priced! Most of all, she is very talented!!

Yes, I totally recommend this shop! Absolutely amazing work and customer service. I'm sure I'll be a returning customer. Great value and quality of work. Lovely Grace fitted and hemmed my new dress beautifully. Thank you all so much! read more

I have brought several pieces of clothing for alterations and they did excellent work until the last time. I brought in a pair of high waisted pants to have shortened. I had them pin the pants for me and when I picked them up, they were above my ankles. They tried to remedy the situation but there was not enough material left. Excuses were made that I must have had them low on my waist. Impossible, they were snug high waisted pants. No accountability and did not pay for the pants they ruined, just refunded the $20 hemming charge. I'm out $120 and they lost a regular customer. read more

Grace's Tailor Shop is the only place in Norfolk I will go for alterations! Located in Downtown Norfolk, it's easy to walk over and usually, there are a few street parking spots right in front of her store. The small business owner Bo is a sweet Korean lady that takes pride in her work and provides amazing service! There were a few times I had a bridesmaid dress I needed to be hemmed in a pinch and Bo made it happen. From bridesmaid dresses to simple dress pants that I need to be hemmed for my short legs, I've always had a great experience. The shop is cute with string lights in the front. There is a dressing room in the back to try on clothes and a platform with a trifold mirror for Bo to discuss measurements. If you're looking for a new tailor, Bo is your lady! read more

Bo does quality work and is always so cheerful. I have to take a lot of things to get hemmed and adjusted (thank you, short genes), and everything I take to Grace's Tailor Shop is perfectly done with a fair price. She will mend tears in pants, fix snags in sweaters... name it, she will fix it. Today, I picked up a dress she had hemmed, and she surprised me by using the extra fabric to make a scrunchie because she noticed that I loved the color of the dress's fabric! It was so kind and attentive Bo is truly wonderful. I highly encourage everyone to take anything they need adjusted, fixed, hemmed, etc to Grace's Tailor Shop for professional and quality service! I cannot adequately express how excellent this place is. I had a bunch of dresses that I needed to have taken in, and she always measured carefully and the dresses were always perfectly tailored once she did her handiwork. Customer service here is exceptional, and each garment is carefully measured and verified with each client to make sure it's the perfect fit. The quality of each item is exceptional. She's tailored dresses, jeans, and even t-shirts for me! She goes above and beyond - even when I moved away from Norfolk, I had a work trip that brought me back to Virginia Beach and I forgot a pair of jeans. I rushed out to Nordstrom Rack, found a pair that fit perfectly but was too long and called her...could she help me get these hemmed in an unexpectedly quick turnaround so I could wear them asap? She came to my rescue and was able to do just that. I truly can't emphasize enough how fantastic my experience here was, and if you're nervous about trusting your garments to a stranger, fear not...and go here. read more

Amazing!!! Friendly!! Detail oriented! I showed up here with my wedding dress after my red flight had landed Thursday morning. My wedding was Saturday. Grace's tailor shop was a last ditch effort to fix the straps on my dress that my tailor in California mistakenly tightened when I asked her to make them looser. As soon as I landed, I began calling tailors and many of them were low key rude and hinted at the fact that I was irresponsible for waiting too long. ( they weren't wrong, but they could have just said " no it's not possible") The team at graces tailor shop were unbelievably kind and fixed a couple of issues that not one but two previous tailors had not done correctly. My dress was comfortable and they did an impeccable job!!!! You will not be disappointed! read more

Grace's Tailor Shop - Dress - Sewing & Alterations Near Me - Norfolk, Virginia

They got my pants tailored for Easter Sunday in a day. Service was excellent and I was looking great. Thank you!

I went to pick up two military covers (hats) that had rank and Last name tag added. So a total of 4 items. When I went to pick them up, a week later, they were not ready. So I didn't have time to wait, so another week went by and when I went to pick them up the rank was crooked and their was a stitch line through the name tape. She fixed the rank then and there (still looks off but had to go). Cost $20. I need to get my tops done but nervous about taking them to this shop. read more

I am a short person so I bought a suit and the pants were a little too long. I found Grace's shop which is right across the street from my place. She hemmed them up to perfection. This definitely won't be the last time I go to her for some alterations! Price was not too bad. She was very kind and helpful! Thanks again! read more

The customer service was great! The owner was very responsive. I had my bridesmaid dress taken in on the side to enhance the shape and had my one shoulder altered to add hooks for easy dressing. This was all done with a 1 day turn around. Highly recommend! read more

Incredibly fast and so accommodating! I had a bridesmaids dress that needed to be hemmed badly. This shop had it ready for me the next day. Would highly recommend and will definitely use again. read more

I found this place via other Yelp reviews and needed to get a chiffon bridesmaid dress both hemmed and tailored. I only had 7 days before the wedding so I needed some place that I thought wouldn't mess it up because I wouldn't have time to fix it. For starters, the owner was extremely nice and professional and the store itself was comfortable to change in. I never received a price quote for the job but at that point I didn't have many options. She spent about 30 minutes taking my measurements and was very thorough. When I picked the dress up, the hem job was done perfectly (4 layers of fabric), but the rest was entirely too small. I could barely barely get it zipped up, it gave me a back "muffin top", and the shoulder strap was so tight it was digging into my shoulder. The shoulder strap even ripped during the reception. On top of that, she charged me $140. That's right. $140. Will not return. read more

I can't say enough good things about this shop. I bought a suit from a retailer and it took longer than expected to come in. When it finally arrived for pickup, it was the night before a big interview for a promotion, and the tailor at that shop had already gone home. I work just down the street from Grace's Tailor Shop, so I stopped in the next morning on my way to work. I wasn't sure they could accommodate such a rush request (I dropped the suit off at 7:00 am and needed it by Noon). Bo assured me she could have it done in time. I went to work and after roughly an hour or so I was notified that my alterations were complete. I rushed back over to the shop and picked it up and it was PERFECT! I can't thank Bo enough for helping me out today! I will definitely be visiting again to have other clothes mended and altered. read more

My youngest son recently started taekwondo and we needed to get a small patch sewn onto his uniform. After watching a few youtube videos trying to learn how to do it myself, I decided it would be best to leave it to professionals. I was in Norfolk, went to yelp, and found Grace's. I called and the lady I spoke with said she would be able to get it right away if I brought it in. I brought it to her and she told me it would be about five minutes. I had a few errands to run and told her I'd come back by afterward. When I came back, it was done, looked great, and the price was better than I could have asked for. I definitely plan to recommend Grace's to anyone who might need a tailor in Norfolk and also plan to frequent this business in the future with my tailoring needs. Thank you for your quick work and for making my seven year old son very happy! read more

After a great experience here a few years ago, I recently brought a bridesmaid dress in for alterations. I learned that Grace sold the business to a woman who worked there for years. After seeing a review that similar alterations were expensive on a rush, I made sure I brought my dress there 6 weeks before I'd need it. Well apparently the rush had nothing to do with the exorbitant prices. It cost me $180 for the alterations!!!!! It actually cost more to alter my dress than the dress cost on its own. I have no issues with the quality of the work. But I wasn't told how much the alterations would be. To say my mouth hit the floor would be an understatement. Honestly if it wasn't a bridesmaid dress I probably would have left it there. Ridiculously too expensive to ever return read more

My fiance needed his suit to be completely fitted - from the jacket to the pants. We brought the suit in at 3:50PM on Thursday (shop closes at 4:00PM) and needed it the next day before closing. Grace (I believe that's the shop owner?) assured us that this would be no problem. In fact, we ended up getting the suit around 2PM the next day and it was perfectly done. It was also steamed and ironed so it looked ready to wear. We were completely satisfied with the service and I can definitely trust this place to bring items in for alteration. The only reason this place doesn't get 5 stars is because we paid $88 for the alteration. This is extremely steep but given the circumstances that $88 were well spent. read more

Loved this place. I've sadly moved away and cannot use them anymore! They are so kind and fast. I needed last minute tailoring of a suit for a wedding, and there was no issue getting it back. They even got it back to me before the date specified! read more

I called desperate to have some minor uniform modifications needed for deployment. The service was friendly, prices fair, and the workmanship excellent. She also had the work completed in less than 24 hours! Thank you for helping a Sailor out!! read more

Service was great. But paid $90 for a $65 bridesmaid dress alteration. Way too expensive.

Excellent business, most nice and sincere owner and speedy service that is done before your expected date!

This place is awesome! My husband and brother in law had some custom suits made in Reston, VA by Davelle's. Well, long story short, they came out horribly wrong. (see review for that store) Grace and her assistant practically took the whole suit apart and re-stiched it to make it look like a suit is supposed to fit. We are talking MAJOR alterations, not just a cuff shorted here and there. She even took apart the stitching that was right but was machine sewn and re-stiched it by hand so that it would have the quality of a hand-made custom suit. She did all this in a few hours the day before the wedding! She had my husband and brother in law come in at 730am so that she could take proper measurements and have time to make the alterations before the wedding. What a sweet lady! She did an awesome job and it didn't even cost that much. read more

excellent tailor shop, the owner is extremely nice and is very helpful when it comes to finding what you want and what styles fit. alterations were on time and very affordable, i brought in a suit that needed to have some lengths adjusted and pants tapered and adjusted and it looked great. I look forward to many more visits to this shop. read more

Bam! Super nice lady with thread and needle right there at the door to fix my ripped suit pants while I grabbed breakfast.

Fantastic work and fast! I got five pairs of work pants taken up. $15 per pair. I was happy to pay. No further adjustments were needed, but I was told to come right back if they were too short or too long to be altered at no additional cost. Great customer service! read more

I popped into town for a weekend wedding and needed alterations on a formal gown and a floor length skirt. The pricing was a little steep, but I didn't mind as it was ready by the next morning and both items were perfectly done and you would never have known that several inches had been removed. read more

This is truly an excellent tailor shop, one that I would highly recommend you visit for all your tailoring needs. The quality of work is without a doubt top notch and totally professional. The pricing is absolutely attractive in light of the exceptional attention to detail. Work I have had done here includes full altering of suit coats, suit pants, and dress shirts. Grace is incredibly nice. You will be very happy, I guarantee it. read more

Great place. I got my evening gown and my husband's uniform altered at the last minute and she was able to turn it around within a few days for us. Super sweet and nice lady. It is on the pricy side. I've never done a yelp review but felt I needed to because it is what brought me to Grace's. I had a bad tailoring done in Williamsburg and went to Graces to fix it and do my new suit. She was very sweet and took the time to walk through every step of what needed to be done, and what I should even do at all. The tailoring came out great, and the staff is very nice. read more

I love this business so much that I feel obligated to write my first Yelp review. My clothes have been perfect every time. She accommodated me during a very tight schedule when I was in a bind. Mostly you just want your clothes to come out fitting well, but what you get from the people here is a warmth that makes you feel cared for. I give this place one million stars! read more

This place is great!!! It was extremely affordable! I brought in my 2 jackets (one with a pocket that needed sewn and the other one was a nice, heavy, J. Crew winter jacket with large buttons on the front with seamless threading on the inside that all needed reinforced) and it was no problem for her. I was really impressed with the service and price. read more

I have been a patron of Grace's Tailor Shop for 9 years, and have received consistently excellent service. Most recently, Grace assisted me with selection of a suit for my wedding. As the tailor for the Quality Shop, she happened to be present when I tried on the three suit models that were final contenders. She helped me understand the tailoring challenges one posed, and made the final decision an easy one. Her tailoring was spot on, with two fittings to make sure all was as it should be. My suit was ready earlier than promised, and looked great! Thank you Grace! read more
