I live in Elgin and would say they are the best in Elgin, but I would not drive all the way out here to get them if I wasn't already in town. We had the egg and bacon and the egg and chorizo. Both were very good and the bacon was nice and crisp. The people working here are also very nice. When its cold outside you can sit in your car and they will wave at you when your order is ready. So, it's fine. They're tacos. They're good. You can get a small one, or a large one, and they're priced just right. I don't get the "best tacos ever" or "better than any spot in Austin" reviews. They're just breakfast tacos. And they're just fine. I won't wait in line for twenty-thirty minutes for them, but if I want a breakfast taco and don't feel like driving into the city, I'll stop by if the line is short. The parking situation is kind of atrocious, and pulling back out onto Highway 290 can be a bit of a pain. I've never heard so much honking while people were trying to back out. The service is friendly, and they're happy to answer questions. It's worth a stop to see if you like it, but I disagree with the other reviews that they'll knock your socks off. read more

I know this place has gotten quite the following and their tacos have always been good; yet lately there have been some issues. First, notice the workers do not wear "hair nets-never" and sometimes I have seen some not wear gloves, as often. I had recently gone to pickup a number of tacos for a large group and half my batch had more than we bargained for; hair is not appealing meal in any way shape or form... I bring their well-priced HUGE breakfast tacos to work to score brownie...ahem...taco points with my colleagues and they know what that little brown bag means...heaven's inside. I've ordered everything they make for friends with various tastes and have gotten back nothing but rave reviews. I'm partial to the fully dressed fajita taco (beef skirt steak, beans, onions, cheese, cilantro) and the traditional bacon egg and cheese. But on Saturdays-only you can get a Desebrada taco...melts in your mouth. Your choice of red or green sauce for your tacos. I'm a green girl myself. We are in Austin twice a year and discovered this little spot on a side trip to Round Top. We passed them by on several trips thinking this little hut could not possibly have good food. OMG, were we ever wrong! We ALWAYS stop now and, last trip, even made a special detour on the way to Hill Country wineries to get our breakfast taco fix. Husband LOVES the churizo and eggs taco. I have tried and tried to make them for him and even though he says they are good, I know he's longing for Taco Stop! The bacon, egg, and potato with a little red sauce is my choice and it is delicious. Their tacos are soft and fresh. The bacon is thick and crispy. The red sauce has just enough "bite". Their parking is dirt and sometimes there is a drop off from the shoulder to the dirt. Watch for trucks and traffic zooming by. There is always a line, but everyone is friendly and patient.
