Tried this place out today and the food was delicious! Wasabi salmon over stir fry veggies/ginger rice and the shrimp scampi pasta special. Seriously worth trying if you want fresh ingredients at a good price. Lots of selections, quaint decor, excellent service. We will be back. The Table Bistro was my FIRST restaurant in Athens, GA. I'm so glad I got a chance to try this place during my spontaneous visit to Athens. The Table Bistro is a cute, family-owned restaurant. They really make an effort in providing excellent service. The chef is also very friendly and personable as well. They use high quality, fresh ingredients and their presentation is on point. I went with a group of people and was able to try several items. I recommend the Asian chili pasta, Blackened Wasabi Mahi Mahi Sandwich, and Creole Shrimp & Grits. The asian chili pasta is made with vegetables, fettucinne noodles, and their sweet chili sauce. It had a nice balance between sweet and spicy. I eat pretty spicy so while I find it an enjoyable spice-level, others might find it super spicy. Their Creamy Basil Arugula Pesto is made with Arugula, Basil, Pine nuts, Garlic, Parmesan Cheese, and Olive Oil. I really liked how it did not feel heavy, but found it slightly lacking in pesto flavor. I had a cup of their vegetable soup which came out with thinly sliced baguettes. Simple, but good for a cold/chilly day. The Blackened Wasabi Mahi Mahi Sandwich really took me by surprise. The balance between the flavors of the jicama cilantro slaw, arugula and their wasabi lemon aioli is just mouth-watering good. The only thing I wasn't a huge fan of is their bun. I didn't know how I would feel about their Creole Shrimp & Grits. However, it was actually REALLY good. Do try this one. I was able to try three of their desserts including the Cheesecake Ganache, Key Lime Tart, and their homemade Reese's pie in their mason jar. The Cheesecake Ganache was my favorite out of the three. Not too sweet and delicious. Their Key Lime Tart tasted more like a key lime pie with a cheesecake base. The homemade Reese's pie was a bit sweet for my taste, but nevertheless very good as well. Great service, Great food, Budget friendly!!! I've only been here once, but I hear from others their food is consistently good (Very important). The bathroom is also very clean with Nice, Soft toilet paper that is friendly on your tush. haha. They even have a baby changing table in the bathroom. First time tonight and we really enjoyed it. I had the portabello jalapeno sandwich it was savory not too spicy and delicious. My wife had homemade vegetable soup and a salad and it to was delicious not overly salted like so many restaurants can be. The people that run The Table Bistro are a family and they're lovely. We have been wanting to try this place forever and we're so excited about it! It's hidden on the first level of an apartment building on Baxter so be on the lookout. We had lunch on Tuesday and I've been dreaming of the blackened wasabi fish sandwich ever since. We started with crabmeat stuffed portobello appetizer and it was divine. Hubby got the chicken sandwich which has a delicious curry aioli and my fish sandwich was amazing. We can't wait to try again for dinner soon. Seating inside is quite limited but plenty of patio seating too. Outstanding flavors and excellent service. I'm excited to suggest this as our new workday lunch spot. read more

I can't begin to comprehend how amazing and complex my meal was here. The chef managed to combine nearly 10 different distinct flavors and created a dish i will never forget. Lemon, Jalepeño, plantain, radish, balsamic vinaigrette, rice pilaf, cajun spices over a crab stuffed salmon is something very very few chefs can pull off. The taste was something you can only normally get in michelin starred restaurants. Not to mention the exceptional cheesecake with the perfect sweetness and consistency. I'm not sure I'll ever enjoy food in general ever again compared to this place. As a chef myself I feel insignifigant to this singular chef's ability. You heard me, singular. There is one guy back there making everything, and there is no variation in quality. Every dish this person puts out is flawless. If you see this nameless chef out there and are willing to take on an apprentice or atleast another server I will be willing to work here all summer. read more

They do gluten and dairy free options for many things. They could easily charge 3x what they do and it would still be a great value. One of the best meals I have ever had. Our daughter was raving about this place so we went there for her birthday. We expected something good and clean. But I did not expect the amazing blend of flavors. I had the crabmeat with blackened salmon. Amazing! Creamy and a bit spicy but not heavy. Plenty of crab and salmon. My wife had the ginger salmon special which was much less spicy but also very tasty. Our daughter had the Tuna salad. All were perfectly prepared and presented. As soon as you walk in, you are greeted with a huge smile and big welcome. We were immediately seated, served water, and handed menus and utensils. Our food probably came out about 15 minutes after ordering (we got there early and it wasn't TOO busy yet). The steakburger with potatoes on the side were AMAZING. Hands down, this was the best food I've ever had. Admittedly, I've only been here one time, for lunch, and disappointingly, the appetizers were not available (I'm not sure why), so all I got to try was the shrimp n grits, but this was DEFINITELY the best shrimp n' grits I've EVER had. This is an underappreciated gem in Athens - seriously, everything my husband and I have had here is phenomenally fresh, both in terms of ingredients and concept/execution. But the last two times we've tried to go, they haven't been open, despite being during normal business hours (Friday dinners between 5 & 7). There has been no indication on their storefront or social media that they would be closed, and when you call the restaurant it goes directly to a voicemail. I hope the owners are OK, and really hope they are not closing for good because I would cry and cry and cry...I need that fra diabolo, dawg. It's the best Italian restaurant in town, and it isn't even an Italian restaurant. read more
