It is a real pleasure for me to write a review about this new addition to the downtown Asheboro's business scene. A tremendous amount of "blood, sweat and tears" has gone into the making of this fabulous restaurant. Mix passion, vision, and a desire to be the very best restaurant in the region and you are just scratching the surface of what is behind this fine establishment. Nothing gives me greater pleasure than watching someone's dream come to fruition. Dustie Gregson has been working on the concept that has finally become The Table Farmhouse Bakery for many years. When you first walk through the doors, you are reminded that every detail down to the salt and pepper shakers has been carefully thought out to bring diners the most pleasant of experiences.
Visiting a restaurant with great food is always enjoyable. Eating in an establishment that has great ambiance and atmosphere takes the experience to a higher level. Finding one of the very few places in the world, that combines world-class fare, an almost surreal atmosphere and service driven by passion and you've just entered The Table Farmhouse Bakery. Imagine a Dean & Deluca without the snobbery, Panera without the corporate culture and a higher-quality menu and a Williams-Sonoma atmosphere without the high-price tag and you are getting a small idea of what it is like to dine at The Table. Add the warmth and welcoming attitude of everyone that works there, and it's a place you want to visit over and over again. In fact, my lovely wife, has done just that by eating there every day since they've opened.
Sherry and I were invited to a pre-opening trial run last week and I knew immediately that The Table was going to be a hit. I did not know it was going to be as popular as it has become as quickly as it has. In fact, it was so busy on the first day, they ran out of food. After restocking, the second day was much like the first and the traffic has been heavy every day since. My sense is, the steady flow of people eating there will not dwindle any time soon.
You are probably saying that is all fine and good, but what about the food? The food is OUTSTANDING and there is something on the menu for everyone from freshly baked pastries to daily soups to salads and sandwiches. I love pimento cheese so when I saw that their menu included a variation of the sandwich that made my childhood memorable, I had to give it a try and I am glad I did. In short, this is not your momma's pimento cheese, or maybe it is if she happened to make it better than anyone else. Add a couple of slices of applewood bacon on freshly baked sour dough bread served (I am salivating just thinking of this sandwich) with either fresh fruit or french fries cooked in truffle oil and, you have the outer worldly experience that comes along with everything that is served there. In short, the food transcends words, or at least any in my vocabulary. It is something you have to experience for yourself. A word of warning though...once you have experienced the food at The Table, it will be difficult to go back to your regular lunch place. read more
