This is a very small bakery but, there were many ppl in line so I figured it would be pretty good. I went in for something sweet as it was about 8 in the morning but, there were scones, fresh out of the oven that I had to try. I got the cheddar and chive scones. OmG. So warm and good. Crisp edges and soft and fluffy everywhere else. I ate it in minutes. This would go amazing with a side of pasta. My goodness. 10 out of 10. When I am back in the area, I'll try a warm Blueberry scone.

We were lucky enough to snag some goodies and got a bit of everything, we just weren't patient enough to wait to photograph everything. We did the Za'atar Gruyère Croissant, chocolate croissant, the cheese biscuit item they had (don't remember exact name) and the sfogliatelle. I'm in search of the best croissant in DC, so I regret not getting the regular croissant on this visit, but the chocolate croissant gave me an idea of what to expect. Buttery, flaky, crispy, with just the perfect amount of sweetness. The typical chocolate croissant was my personal favorite. When we asked what the most popular items were, we were surprised it wasn't the more classic bakery items, but we enjoyed what we tried. We want to go back soon to try some other items as well. My friend got a coffee and also enjoyed that! This is the perfect place to stop by for a treat if you make it in time!

The perfect temperature. The cheese was very good, creamy, naturally flavorful not overly so. I guess I just can't praise this place enough. I stayed a while so need up getting a second drink, the Sakura matcha latte which was very tasty too - all round the right amount of matcha-y! Lol! I also ordered the blueberry eclair - not too sweet. Perfect size. Perfect ratio. Not to mention, beautiful. Just perfect. Love this place! Will go back every time I'm in town. Not crazy about the parking situation in the area but whatever, that's the way it is round there and luckily I found a spot easily :) Check this place out. It's truly lovely.

Delicious macarons... but your wallet will notice!…read more As a gluten-free girl, macarons are one of my favorite desserts, so anytime I spot them, I HAVE to try them. Naturally, I was very happy to have Olivia Macaron right in my Union Market neighborhood! I've tried several flavors, but my favorites are definitely the honey lavender, red velvet, and lychee rose. They also occasionally offer specialty flavors, which gives me an excuse to keep coming back and trying something new. Now, let's talk about the price. These macarons are delicious, but they are BY FAR the most expensive macarons I've ever had -- and I've purchased macarons in both Paris and New York! They're definitely more of a little treat-yourself moment than something I'm casually grabbing by the dozen. The shop itself is quaint but super cute and inviting. It's a nice neighborhood spot to grab a coffee, enjoy a macaron, and even sit and get a little work done. The staff has always been friendly and helpful, especially when it comes to recommending flavors. Overall, I'm really happy to have Olivia Macaron in the neighborhood. The macarons are delicious, the flavors are fun, and the space is adorable. I just need those prices to come down from the penthouse a little bit.

The ambiance was cozy, inviting, and definitely made for a nice café experience. Now, onto the crème brûlée matcha! I was SO excited to try this because I've seen it all over TikTok and wanted to see what all the hype was about. I ordered mine with oat milk, although they use Oatly, which isn't my personal favorite. The crème brûlée topping itself was delicious! That crunchy, caramelized crust was definitely the highlight for me. However, I wasn't as impressed with the actual matcha drink. The syrup was extremely thick and settled at the bottom, so I had to stir the drink before almost every sip. Unfortunately, the matcha flavor itself just didn't do it for me. The drink also came with a macaron, and WOW--it was spectacular! Easily another highlight of my visit. Overall, I enjoyed the café, the atmosphere, and the customer service. I would definitely come back to try some of their other lattes and drinks, but I probably wouldn't order the crème brûlée matcha again.

I was informed that they don't carry pastries and that they only had it that one day because they were short on macarons. She said that day they didn't sell many of the pastries so she gave them away at the end of the day. This location is much more convenient to me than Georgetown as I don't like driving downtown. What a bummer. It was a sad, sad day as I left empty handed since I don't like macarons and I was looking forward to the pastries all week. :( I recently learned though that they will be opening a new location in Bethesda Row so I plan to get my pastries then. Yay!!
