The Sundae Saloon is across the street from the Park Theater on Hwy. 36 just 1 block from Elkhorn Ave. (the main drag). Can't miss it. I rolled my window down & inhaled while waiting @ the stoplight, & my car sensed a nearby parking space. I was set on a Funnel Cake, as I rarely have the opportunity to buy 1. But I was unprepared for the assortment of rare concoctions inside. The hard-working Owner was everywhere, doing it all, while being friendly to the customers. I spent an hour happily sitting on a saddle-stool. I will forgo listing the treats I enjoyed in addition to my Funnel Cake ~ but suffice it to say that the Sundae Saloon will be my 1st stop on my next visit.

    Dole whip

The people that run this spot are incredibly nice and accommodating. I think that they're prices are very reasonable. The only downside is that they have very basic and very few flavors. I come every season for the dole whip, it's amazing!

The turle sundae with butter-pecan was a real treat this past Saturday. My wife really was happy to have vegan-ice cream options.

The portions are horrifically small for the price ... the other ice cream places on the strip are a better choice !

Unfortunately, he didn't seem very interested in helping or ensuring we received what we asked for. We purchased three pieces of chocolate for $23, which already felt expensive, and when we returned to our hotel we realized they had given us the wrong chocolates--no tiger butter at all. We tried calling the shop to address the mistake, but it went straight to voicemail. Between the lack of customer service, the error with our order, and the high price point, the experience was very disappointing. For the cost, the quality did not meet expectations. Sadly, this place feels past its prime, and I wouldn't recommend it.

That being said, the elderly gentleman who took our order wasn't nearly as sweet as the product he was selling. In fact, he seemed put out to see a patron enter into his establishment at all. Regardless of the stale service received, this is a unique spot for families, with plenty of space for kids to run around, amidst a fun colorfully lit backdrop that gives off an arcade feel from an era gone by. The framed canine on the wall, much beloved by its owner, is a cute touch too. The sweet snacks once sampled back in the car weren't terribly fresh, but we plan to visit again and try more items on the expansive menu.

We were drawn to this one being a bit off the beaten path (just turn down one of the side streets) and the prospect of vegan flavors. While I'm not vegan, I love vegan ice creams! The shop owner was super kind in letting us sample flavors before ordering. My most favorite was the vegan mint chocolate chip! It had a perfect delicate mint flavor and the right ratio of chocolate chip to mint (not every single bit was a chocolate chip, so it complimented rather than overpowering my cone). They even add rainbow sprinkles free which delights my inner child. We loved this shop so much we ate here three days in a row, and it was my favorite food adventures in Estes Park! My boyfriend tried Lavender Honey, Coffee with Bailey's, and Huckleberry Chocolate Chip and loved them all. I would also recommend the Elk Tracks and Cookie Dough Flavors. This place needs more hype! The interior of the shop was super cute. We enjoyed eating our cones along the river walk.

Love this place and will be thinking about it on our next trip through town. Wow! What a vibe!…read more Things were picking up by the time we got there for lunch. We were greeted by a really nice blonde girl that showed us our seats. She was down to earth and was just beaming with great vibes. Then we got Matt. As if the experience wasn't already great from hanging out with friends, Matt invited us with an amount of aloha that is only found in Hawaii! We ordered chips and onion dip. The ramekin that the onion dip came with was really small compared to the amount of chips we received. It was delicious! Maybe substitute toasted bread next time? I ordered the poke and that was outstanding! It came with a creamy ginger dip that tied things together. For being landlocked and in the mountains, this is a dish I will remember! Matt also brought out a Hong Kong sriacha that definitely elevated everything. The reggae (music), positive vibes, and down to earth feel was a great way to end our trip before getting back to the grind. What a place! The scenery speaks for itself too and the staff is top notch!

For entrees, we selected carnivore and sweet potato gnocchi. One major thing I liked about their dishes is the variety of vegetables within the soup and entrees. Carnivore had freshly sautéed broccoli, and Gnocchi had zucchini, onions, and cauliflowers. It makes the whole meal feel more healthy and balanced. We finished our meal with lady bird bread pudding. Overall the service was great and welcoming. Highly recommend! PS. They also offer to send out a postcard for you. I enjoyed writing the postcard in the restaurant!

All symptoms point to food poisoning. We will not be back. This was our first visit to You Need Pie. What we liked: Our waiter was really hospitable, friendly, and did his best to provide service in a timely way despite being the only server available for all the customers. The coffee was decent, though in a small mug, and so was the hot chocolate we orders for the kids (which came with whipped cream, much to their delight!). The decor on the walls felt kind of scanty but what is there was cute. There is a pretty wide pie selection. Food serving sizes were okay. The single person bathroom was clean. What we didn't like: *The $2 veg add-ins of onion and jalapeños to the $12 omelette were raw. *The corned beef hash was extremely basic and barely seasoned, the potatoes were well cooked but bland and pale. It was edible but not worth $15. *Our party ordered a $9 bread bowl soup and waffle fries as well; it was eaten but the cheese ingredient was really overpowering in flavor - the small size was a good thing, in this case, because otherwise it couldn't have been finished. *The batter on the chicken tenders in the kid's meal were almost burnt on the edges, but still pale everywhere else. Something off with the oil temperature I guess. They didn't get eaten. *The color of everything was pretty much all beige and served on white plates, which impacted the impression of the meal - zero visual appeal. One of my favorite parts of eating at mom-and-pop diners is the way the meals feel homey, warming you from the inside out. This did not create that kind of impression. Lastly, the pie (which was the main draw for us and why we picked this dining option). We ordered one slice of rhubarb at $6.25. The pie was very disappointing - something in it was either stale or had gone bad. It tasted really unpleasant and we ended up throwing it away. Our total for everything was about $80 with tip and it was sadly not money well spent. We love stand alone dining options but probably will not be returning.
